We just need a goal or two from somewhere tonight, it doesn't need to be a striker.DamoNorthStand said:What people are not taking in to account with their permutations is that we are total and utter chuff up front. We will do well to score another 3 goals never mind go unbeaten in 3 games.
I know its nice to follow your heart but lets just consider what we have been seeing on the pitch. No lack of effort - but if you're not good enough to score goals then there is only one outcome.
The only way we will stay up will be down to circumstance (points deductions) or other teams capitulating. Not saying thats impossible - but IMO we need Wigan and Sheff Weds to get -12 and for us to stay above them both.
49 points might be enough to stay up even if we lose to Wigan and Leeds1 -
It would be a fitting end to this bizarre season.ForeverAddickted said:

Barnsley could lose tonight and still get 49, point more than Huddersfield have.Andyessgee90 said:As long as it isn’t at the expense of us, I’d be quite happy to see Luton survive. I must have done well over 100 predictors in the last two weeks looking at all permutations. If we win tonight And Barnsley lose tomorrow that effectively relegates Barnsley due to GD right?
They'd have the greatest escape of the lot of us if they stay up2 -
I think 49 points will be enough to stay up.killerandflash said:

Problem is I don’t think we will get them.0 -

I've gone through the remaining matches and plugged in some scores:

I've got us down for two draws and one goal scored in our last three games and it's rather tight at the end ...
Barnsley, Luton, and Huddersfield (despite their 726-match unbeaten run) get relegated, we survive on goal difference, and Wigan drop to 18th after their 12-point penalty.
At the other end the Spanners sneak into the play-offs, 16 points and 8 wins behind 3rd-place Brentford, before going on to mug Fulham in the Final.
Every silver lining (us staying up) has a cloud (Spanners going up) ... but that cloud has another silver lining in that we don't have to gift them 6 points next season!
Note: This does not include any possible penalty to Chef Wendy as I don't expect an announcement until at least the 2026 season by which time the Football League will have hoped that everyone will have forgotten what all the fuss was about. What should happen is that the Massives automatically finish in 24th place meaning the Terriers stay up but I suspect that the FL have the backbone of a jellyfish and will fudge everything. Again.3 -
So two draws isnt the end of the world... Just makes us more nervous and means we have to rely on Huddersfield losing their last two games
Which isnt bad seeing that they play West Brom on Friday so we'll know that result before we face Wigan0 -

Serious pressure though if we lose or draw tonight and they've got a result on Friday.ForeverAddickted said:So two draws isnt the end of the world... Just makes us more nervous and means we have to rely on Huddersfield losing their last two games

Can't wait for this place to go into meltdown after we lose tonight.
The last 5 teams to play at St Andrews have scored 3 goals each. We've scored just 3 goals in our last 8 games. I know we only need to score once to win but unless Bowyer changes his mindset we'll be playing not to lose.2 -
To be fair the only game we've played not to lose since the restart was against Brentfordgolfaddick said:Can't wait for this place to go into meltdown after we lose tonight.

I see it more likely that they're be ritual suicides! 🤣 We don't take bad news well on here..... Buy hey... look on the brightside... If we win it will be like Xmas come early!golfaddick said:Can't wait for this place to go into meltdown after we lose tonight.

Edit: Even Brentford I'd argue we didnt play to not lose... Could easily have been 3-0 up had Pearce's effort not hit the bar or Bonne had got the ball the other side of the post shortly after HTForeverAddickted said:

So you are wishing is to lose just so you can see a melt down on here. Odd.golfaddick said:Can't wait for this place to go into meltdown after we lose tonight.

Plus, we will win and bed wetters like you will no doubt find setting else to moan about and more misery to glorify in.3 -
......and because Bow brought on Oshilaja instead of Purrington. Osh was poor and guilty of failing to challenge for the ball leading up to the penalty. I am not a fan of him. Not sure what he offers us tbh.ForeverAddickted said:

Yeah the subs were questionable and have been a few games but would still argue that Bowyer's mindset isnt just setup to not losemeldrew66 said:

Any points deduction should either deny a club a promotion or relegate them.LargeAddick said:
But if they legitimately stay up and then are deducted 12 points it’s hardly a punishment. If they finish in the bottom three and then go down and are deducted 12 points at the start of next season then that is a huge punishment. It’s ridiculous really. If the punishment is 12 points it should be applied immediately irrespective of league position.Chris_from_Sidcup said:
The punishment is a 12 point deduction.bobmunro said:ross1 said:
If they are relegated, (which on the points they are on, will not happen), point deduction next season, if not point deduction this seasonCallumcafc said:
Maybe I read the ruling wrong but I thought it wasn’t applied until next season if it didn’t affect the outcome (ie safety or relegation) of this season.ForeverAddickted said:
Surely not? - I thought that only counted if Wigan went down without the deductionCallumcafc said:
If they end up safe with the theoretical deduction, the deduction is applied next season.LawrieAbrahams said:Wigan wouldnow be safe without the 12 point deduction. They should deduct it now, so the tables show a true reflection.
That doesn't seem fair - if the 12 point deduction is applied this season and they stay up then where's the punishment?
It's not a 'however many points it needs to relegate a team' deduction.
It has to be punishment.
Otherwise a 12-points deduction is no punishment at all in the Championship.
It's meaningless - a slapped wrist at worst.
No disincentive. And not punishment at all.

LB worked it out on three groups of three games, four points in each group giving a total of 12 points. First three 7 points, next three 0 points, therefore last three games 5 points needed to get 12 points. One win and two draws.............yeh right1

Bowyer wanted 12 points overall... He'll get 14.ross1 said:LB worked it out on three groups of three games, four points in each group giving a total of 12 points. I've never really understood these mini-target ideas ... four points from each group of three games etc.ross1 said:LB worked it out on three groups of three games, four points in each group giving a total of 12 points. It seems to me that, if you don't hit the target, everyone just shrugs and says 'Oh well'.
I played in one team where the Coach had a slightly different idea. "Three points per game ... there's your bloody target."5 -
Brentford 1-0 up against Preston already0

We did bloody well compared with everyone else to hold out till the 75th min!!killerandflash said:Brentford 1-0 up against Preston already1 -

Imagine how scared you must feel being a West Brom fan right now.
If they drop into the playoffs, I cannot see them winning it.

Count yourselves lucky n'all that you get two gimmies a season off us as well!Big_Bad_World said:
Or, think about it another way. We've lost 10 fewer games than you, conceded 12 fewer goals and only lost more games than 3 other teams in the division.Addick Addict said:To think Millwall could be promoted to the Premier League having won just 17 out of 46 matches. And we could be relegated to League 1 having won 4 less games than them.
We're not going up, so no need to worry yourself too much

Bristol C 1-0 Stoke just before HT1

SSN now saying it’s boring.0

Full times.
Brentford 1 Preston 0
Bristol city 1 Stoke 1
Stoke move to 50 points and are pretty much safe now.0 -
8 straight wins for Brentford. Looks like automatic promotion is going to go right to the last day between them and West brom.0

Attention turns to Huddersfield v West Brom on Friday night
Huddersfield get nothing from their games and we only need a point to stay up
