So it’s three from five, two from four if you’re discounting Barnsley and their incredibly tough fixtures.
All
four are playing another team in the mini-group tomorrow. We are two
points ahead of the pack which puts us in a relatively strong position.
Win tomorrow and we are guaranteed to be safe. That is not true for any of the other three teams.
A
draw isn’t the worst result but it does leave the door open for Wigan
plus one other (both if they draw) to jump above us if they get a result
from their last game.
A loss will be painful. Pray for a Hull/Luton draw if that happens.
Should we secure safety tomorrow I'm still expecting some to come out with: "Yeah but we'll go down next season"
Don't know why it's bothers some so much if people err on the side of pessimism as it'll make no difference to the result what anyone's attitude on here is.

Trouble is there won't be enough humble pie to go round. I hear all the supermarkets in SE London and NW Kent have had a run on it after it was revealed that Bowyer had no choice but to take the cramped up Williams and limping Doherty off at St Andrews 😲.

True but can you imagine what it would be like in the Valley tomorrow if people transferred their anxiety onto the players in a relegation dog fight. I can because I've experienced it several times since the late 50's and I'm glad that they are playing behind closed doors for that reason alone.
Obviously gutted that Huddersfield won but I would quite like to see Brentford in the top flight. It would be the first time since 1947. What a great year that was.
Why is everyone saying best to play Leeds now they are up. In my mind they will play free flowing exhibition football and shred us to pieces rather than being nervy about missing out and letting sneak something

Just like Liverpool did after winning the league you mean?

Right but it makes no difference this time around. Also I'd like to think you can be anxious but still get behind the team come kick off.
Leeds are virtually guaranteed the Championship. 6 points ahead with only 2 games left and a significantly better gd. A point this weekend makes them champions so hope they all go out on the piss and have massive hangovers Wednesday. No crowd must be a big advantage to us on this one.
Brentford have the superior GD - If they win their last two games and Leeds lose their last two games (great for us) then Brentford of all teams take the title
And I only say that last bit because Leeds and West Brom were so clear it was ridiculous to think in January that someone else would win the League
Under PPG, not only Leeds but West Brom would have been automatically promoted by the EFL.
Now Brentford must be considered favourites to take 2nd place. PPG is wrong on so many levels.
am i actually reading all this fuck west brom hope they fuck up the play offs yep great they'll be playing the scum in the play off semi ffs
liven up, we're shit but them being in the prem on top of our complete clusterfuck of a club and team would send me over the edge
Like you mate there's no love lost for me on the Spanners but their future doesn't concern me one iota at the moment. I'm 100% ( I know you like a percentage) into us staying up. What happens after we'll just have to suck it up in the hope we get rid of the shysters and we can get back to beng a proper club once more, reestablishing ourselves as number one in South London 😉.
Well I am gutted Brentford are going up. Usually love the underdog but with Bournemouth and Norwich going down and Leeds going up I thought next seasons PL was looking a bit stronger than usual which could cause issues for Palace. Now Brentford will be the whipping boys.

No way will Brentford be whipping boys in the premier league. They’ll probably do better than Leeds and will mist definitely do better than whoever goes up via the play offs
We have QPR, who have been poor since returning, and Huddersfield, who after tonight will probably be safe by the time we play them and playing for nothing.
We’ll probably lose them both now I’ve said that though lol
whatever though we’ve had a great season. Looked like we’d be in a relegation fight when Harris was in charge, or a dull mid table mediocrity at best, but since Rowett took over he’s got us within an outside chance of the play offs. What a turn around.
Really looking forward to next season and seeing what Rowett can do with a pre season behind him and a chance to mould his own team.

Of course you can and I know why people do it, to manage expections then get a big kick out of Charlton defying the odds and less down if we lose with their self fulfilling prophesy. That's the way some people tick but I and others on this thread don't and offer up a different take on things. Just as well otherwise the world would be a sad place if we all thought the same. Doesn't make any of us bad people or less of a fan with the support we give at games.

I don't think I implied it did. Of course different opinions are great, my point was I'm not sure why it bothers people when some are more pessimistic than them, that's all.

I would have thought it obvious because they don't want their spirits to be dragged down as well so they try and offer up a brighter outlook. I thought I'd explained that, anyway I'm not a psychologist so enough from me. Try and enjoy the game tomorrow when I'm sure I'll be as anxious as the next person 😉.

Likewise should be lose tomorrow and next week and go down, I still expect some to say “Look it’s not over yet....”. Until they are reminded it is indeed over.

F**king well screws with your mental health as well!! - Hearing nothing but misery makes you miserable too
I can deal with the constructive critiscm from fans who actually know what they're talking about but the comments that have no use just dont help anyone - Couldn't be arsed to write the Match Preview for today because of the anxiety brought on by them, felt it would be just filled by the twats who dont actually want to contribute anything useful and its difficult to ignore them when they pop up so often in a thread, so why bother creating another thread for them to have another chance to drag everyones spirits down
Thankfully in this case I spoke with Sage who persuaded me to continue and during our private discussion mentioned some good news that lifted my spirits back up to the normal level
Of course my anxiety was for nothing as the preview continued with its usual theme
Maybe when I'm feeling like that I should just step away from CharltonLife for a bit but why should I have to?

I cant count for anyone else but I'm aware of the fact that we can get relegated
Unlike most though we've not given up like too many fans have
How is this for mind games from Slaven Bilic post match... Surely cant be being serious!!
Slaven Bilic has just told me he has given up on automatic promotion. "I'm preparing for QPR and the play offs!" Extraordinary. Mind games, me thinks #WBA#EFL#BrentfordFC
I said to Slav that surely the only thing that is predictable about the Championship is its unpredictable. And he then said: "No, I don't see it. We now prepare for QPR and the play offs!" #EFL#WBA#BrentfordFC
I think you can't write off #Stoke or even #Barnsley from shocking #BrentfordFC. Barnsley should have beaten #LUFC yesterday and #StokeCity can be a tough place to go. There is still enough football for another twist. He knows that. #WBA

Three guesses what happened to Charlton that season!
We started the next season in the second tier!
