Still needs to keep belief in his players and keep confidence up?

Surely the better thing to say would be: "We'll prepare for QPR, if Brentford are to slip up then we'll be there to captalise"

I get the honesty and realism but think he's being too honest

Don't know why it's bothers some so much if people err on the side of pessimism as it'll make no difference to the result what anyone's attitude on here is.
True but can you imagine what it would be like in the Valley tomorrow if people transferred their anxiety onto the players in a relegation dog fight. I can because I've experienced it several times since the late 50's and I'm glad that they are playing behind closed doors for that reason alone.
Right but it makes no difference this time around. Also I'd like to think you can be anxious but still get behind the team come kick off.
Of course you can and I know why people do it, to manage expections then get a a big kick out of Charlton defying the odds and less down if we lose with their self fulfilling prophesy. That's the way some people tick but I and others on this thread don't, just as well otherwise the world would be a sad place if we all thought the same. Doesn't make any of us bad people or less of a fan.
I don't think I implied it did. Of course different opinions are great, my point was I'm not sure why it bothers people when some are more pessimistic than them, that's all.
I would have thought it obvious because they don't want their spirits to be dragged down as well so they try and offer up a brighter outlook. I thought I'd explained that, anyway I'm not a psychologist so enough from me. Try and enjoy the game tomorrow when I'm sure I'll be as anxious as the next person 😉.
F**king well screws with your mental health as well!! - Hearing nothing but misery makes you miserable too

I can deal with the constructive critiscm from fans who actually know what they're talking about but the comments that have no use just dont help anyone - Couldn't be arsed to write the Match Preview for today because of the anxiety brought on by them, felt it would be just filled by the twats who dont actually want to contribute anything useful and its difficult to ignore them when they pop up so often in a thread, so why bother creating another thread for them to have another chance to drag everyones spirits down

Thankfully in this case I spoke with Sage who persuaded me to continue and during our private discussion mentioned some good news that lifted my spirits back up to the normal level

Of course my anxiety was for nothing as the preview continued with its usual theme

Maybe when I'm feeling like that I should just step away from CharltonLife for a bit but why should I have to?

Nothing wrong with taking a step back/away from here now and then.

Glad you were persuaded to carry on with the Previews, it is appreciated so thank you to both of you that do them.

Hopefully will join you for the ups and downs later today.

Surely we will at least have a shot on goal today?

Nabster to score the winner and clear one off the line in the 97th minute going down in folk law, as if he hasn't already 😉.
  • The game kicks off and it’s 0-0 and the as it stands table has us “up” a point from where we were after 44 games

we’re only 1 goal and a referee that can’t keep the time from nicking all 3 points ...
    anything is possible

our well run club do not deserve to be relegated, these nice helpful guys deserve to be rewarded for their philanthropic attitude to us , safety beckons
  • Shitting ourselves over a home fixture vs Wigan.
What a sad state of affairs.
Makes a change from shitting ourselves about a home fixture with Doncaster (or Rochdale or whoever).
  • We are due a flukey win, the game where one team is completely dominant but somehow fails to score (hitting the post, dodgy refereeing decisions etc)

I agree with you, we are due a flukey win.

Actually we're due quite a few flukey wins, given the squit we've had to deal with in recent years.

However, the footballing gods will probably decree that we can't have one until Halley's Comet next trundles by.

Well, it's looking like that ain't gonna happen this season! Nothing has gone our way in the last 5 games. Wigan's
2nd goal after us missing 3 fab chances and not getting a 70/30 penalty was soooooooo predictable.
  • Brentford choking at the moment
  • Brentford blow automatic promotion. Needing just a point at Stoke to go into second on goal difference they lose 1-0.

    Leeds are promoted as champions.

West brom need a win at home to QPR on the last day to seal 2nd spot.
  • Think I would prefer Hull to win now

If it finishes a draw then both teams go onto  46 and Luton just need to beat Blackburn to go above us

If Hull win they would need to get something from Cardiff who will need to win to get into the playoffs to go above us

Provided we dont draw on Wednesday ourselves
  • Anyone got a stream of Hull v Luton?
  • It's a good thing Leeds are champions already, won't have that to play for now.

    Don't torture yourself.

  • Can’t be bothered to check if anyone has said this but Fulham could be our saviour . If they beat Sheff Wed they need to beat Wigan next week to possibly get automatic promotion. That would mean with their 12 point deduction we would be safe regardless off our result at Leeds !
Im liking this one beds 👍

I'm tempted to pay a tenner and watch!

    Correct

The shock defeats for WBA and Brentford mean Fulham (if they win today) could still clinch automatic promotion next Wednesday, a very different prospect to a team saving themselves for the playoffs

The Wigan players looked devastated at the final whistle

Yes, i think we definitely want a Hull win looking at the fixtures that are left.

This scenario needs a result in Hull v Luton now !!

we need a winner in it ...
to take out the draw and win finish for Hull and luton

we also require Barnsley to not win both games ....forest (h) tomorrow Brentford (a) Wednesday
  • Got a feeling Im watching the wrong game somehow...

  • Luton win is the worst result for us.

Hull win i'm not too fussed about, as i think they'll lose on the last day.

Draw does neither of them any good.

Scott Parker (part) redemption is beckoning you you oh i just cant say it , trying  to stop swearing
  • Cardiff 1-0 up.

Worst result for us will be them sealing a play off spot today and having nothing to play for v Hull on the last day.
