That's all that matters. I don't care if Stoke win 5 -0. All you need is 3 teams to be below you. Assuming Wigan do get the 12 point deduction then I'd rather Luton & Barnsley lose all the rest of any 6-pointers that they play.
I'd just rather there were more than a three point gap between us and them, dont want to rely on a result against Leeds
But currently there is a 5 point gap between us and Barnsley, 6 with Luton & 8 with Wigan.......with us having a better goal difference so you could effectively add a point.
All means we might only need another 4 or 5 points as I cant see them winning 3 or 4 games out of 5.
Saying that.......our next game after Brentford is against Reading !
I can’t see us getting another win to be honest . All we can hope by the time we play Wigan they will be down and most of the players will have left having not been paid .
Barnsley’s next 2 games after today are away at Luton and home to Wigan.
Good news for us, that’s 2 massive games where at least one of them will drop points.
Ideally would want a draw in the first game & Wigan to beat Barnsley.
So long as Wigan lose today and fail to beat QPR in midweek. Then yes that would be ideal for sure and mean a win for us against Reading next Saturday would put us 7 clear with 3 to go.
Currently we're 8 points ahead of Wigan. 6 to Luton, 5 to Barnsley
Isn't the Wigan thing subject to various legal challenges? I think we should adopt the attitude that they're still on 50 points tbh and staying ahead of Hull is the priority
There Is there a scinario if Wigan were to lose their next three games , where it would benefit us to lose to them so they don’t drop into the bottom 3 before a points deduction. Not sure mathematically that can happen ?
Also, frankly speaking it feels frankly immoral that we'd stay up at Wigan's expense due to their new owners apparently betting on them to go down and tanking them on purpose. I wouldn't feel comfortable if we're kept up by that

Makes no difference, if they were to already be in the relegation zone they go down and get the points deduction next season. If they finish above it, they get the deduction. Without the deduction, they’re very unlikely to finish in the bottom 3.
We should only be focusing on getting the points total we need to ensure safety, without the points deduction of other clubs. The points deduction makes it easier for us of course, but as long as we finish above 3 other teams, that’s all I care about.

I think if Luton and Barnsley draw on Tuesday they could both be gone, strange but Wigan, Barnsley and Luton looked like being the 3 all season , if you had said that at the start of this week you would have said never , now it looks very much the case again.

After Luton they've got Wigan then they play 3 of the top 4

I'm just glad we don't find ourselves in that position :-)
