Not if we have less points  :)
  • This is the Best league in the world.Fcuk the Premiership this this the most competitive-Don't count on any other teams. Its in our own hands
Charlton | Stoke | Huddersfield all lose their next two games

Hull draw one game, lose the other Middlesbrough draw their next two...

That would really set it up for the squeakiest of bum finishes

Please let this be the week where we hear news of a nice juicy points deduction to Sheffield Wednesday. The cheating bastards can't get away with this one, surely.

Really, if Wigan are getting -12 because of administration, the punishment for Wednesday ought to be more as they deliberately tried to gain an advantage and broke the rules. I can't see more than -12, but it would be beautiful if they got handed say a 16 point deduction. With that, we'd be 6 clear of the bottom 3 with 5 to go.

Please let this be the case and they get punished!
  • Leeds fans will be delighted with Barnsley, Huddersfield, Boro and Hull looking like relegation candidates. Must be some appeal for them to allow a local rival to be relegated by playing the kids on the final day.
  • Tried a few permutations to see how interesting it could get going into the final week of the season at either end of the table, and for the play-offs.

Take 12 points off Wigan to throw them into the mix too.

In 1990 Swindon Town won the Second Division Play Off final to win promotion to the top flight but were found guilty of financial irregularities and demoted to the Third Division. On appeal the punishment was reduced to foregoing promotion and they stayed in Division Two.

Sheffield have been charged with, essentially, financial irregularities so surely a precedent has been set with automatic relegation?

Wigan has gone into administration and the world and his dog knows that a 12-point penalty follows such an event so the Football League had no option but to announce it with caveat around the season in which it will be applied.

In the case of the Massives maybe the FL are waiting until the end if the season to announce verdict (guilty) and sentence (relegation) so as not to influence how the remaining matches are played out?

Or maybe I'm giving the Football League too much credit and they're going to display that they've got no backbone and instead hand out an inconsequential points penalty that stops short of sending Wendy down.
  • Depending on a Sheffield Wednesday points deduction, ex Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock going to Hillsborough on the last day of the season could be interesting
  • Herbie Kane out for the season according to McCann on BBC Humberside
  • Mind you, similar to the scenario when Fortune sent Palace down, when any one from four could have survived. Good fun when you're not in it. Poor old Gillingham have also 'masterminded' a couple of last-day relegations that required about four results to go against them
  • I wouldn't expect Barnsley / Luton to get that close to everyone else but wouldnt be surprised if 22nd to 18th end on the same number of points
  • Of the games since the restart everyone on 46 points or less ( the bottom 7) have scored 4 from a possible 9 except Stoke who have scored 3 from a possible 9.  2 points separate 18th to 22nd with 15 points left to play for.

    So clearly...um...I dunno.

You think it is likely we are going to concede 8 more than we score and Luton are going to score 6 more than they concede in the next 4 games, and we are going to draw one and lose 3 and Luton are going to win 2, draw 1 and lose only 1?
  • My head hurts
  • 50 points should be enough.
  • Well it could be worse. We could've gone down a couple of weeks ago via PPG! :p

Us scoring enough goals is really going to be a problem
still think 49 points will be enough.  If so we would only need one more clean sheet and one more goal all season as long as they come in the same game.
  • That table would be bloody brilliantly for the neutral. I’m sure we’ll be on at least 49 going into the final game.

For that table to be correct we would have to lose each of the next 4 games by a margin of 2 goals, and Luton would need to win each of their next 4 games by an average margin of 1.5 goals per game.  I know we are a bit shit, but I don't think we are that shit.  And I don't think Luton are suddenly going to just roll over the opposition.
  • All I know is that before the weekend I thought we would need 53 or 54 points to stay up. Now I'm with Bows......50 might just do it. 51 to be absolutely safe.

    1 win & 2 draws.
  • I'd be surprised if Birmingham get 6 points in the next 4 games too. They've drawn a lot of games but have won none of their last 8. I think they'll finish a lot closer to the bottom 3

I've been really surprised at how freely Hull are scoring after looking toothless against us. 3 goals vs Brum, 2 against Boro and 2 against WBA.
