After seeing he'd left my first thought was why on earth we never insert buy-back clauses like lots of clubs do. Lo and behold, I see 5 minutes later that we have! Smart move, sell on clause involved as well... A sign of good, long-term leadership, at last
Other u23s have broken through and improved under Bowyer, maybe they just don’t think he’s good enough at the moment. They clearly think he has potential given the buy out clause.
What exactly is a buy-back clause and how might that work? Just first refusal if they want to move him on?
I imagine we've got X number of years to buy him back at X amount
We can probably exercise that at any point
e.g. If Man Utd suddenly want him for £15m yet our deal with them is £500k, we have the right to buy him back and then sell him on to Man Utd for that £15m ourselves - Its effectively what Barcelona and Real Madrid did with Deulofeu and Morata
I liked him and hoped he would come through as he had pace and strength. I hope he has a successful career and would be nice if he did come back.
I too thought he would come into the senior team. I don't think he will be back after reading his farewell but I do expect him to go on and be a good player. Probably do a season at Colchester then go straight to a Championship club
Not bothered. Would have made it here by now if he was going to but good luck to the lad.
U say that but our players often go on to be good
That is my one major issue with Bowyer. He has never looked at trying any of them apart from Barker, and that was forced on him. He then was dropped and never even got a chance on the bench when we had major defense injuries. A young player does well then you surely keep him in around the squad and try and nurture that? He don't seem interested in doing that and it's bothering me. All good managers should recognise good youngsters and at least give them a chance

The guy next to him in the photo has some serious hair!
With my "would I lie to you" hat on, I'm saying true, as it sounds to odd to be made up
Each time I hear more it adds to my concern. Smoke and Fire and all that.

We already know.
