Did the centre circle today, absolutely buzzing brilliant performance, brilliant day and the valley was rocking. First game at the valley this season and I’m well and truly back in love.
Really please for Bonne, think he’s gradually becoming a very good centre forward. He’s good in the air and his hold up play today was excellent.
Thought Pratley and Lockyer didn’t put a foot wrong, both superb.
Gallagher will be pushing for Chelsea first team next season if he carries on playing like that.
My MOM was Cullen. The boys got such an engine. He won the ball back countless times today and when he did his passes were spot on and almost always forward.
Took my 6 year old for her first game aswell and when she was clapping along I’m not afraid to say I got a tear in my eye.
North upper was bouncing. Not enjoyed a game of football like that for a while.
Well what a day. Starts well watching England win the Rugby. Then off to the valley. Met TCE before the game with his beautiful dogs.lovely to meet you Ray. Then met Johnny Jackson which is always nice. Went into xbars for a couple and had a chat with Ricky Otto before joining up with my crowd. Onto the game itself I thought we were absolutely brilliant. Young Coner is going to have a long career ahead of him at the highest level. Make the most of him while we can. Pratley just keeps getting better and better, can't wait to see how good he will be when he's 40. Phillips also is going to play in the premier league one day hopefully with us. The whole team deserves at least an 8 on the statistics thread. All in all a brilliant day.cant wait till next Saturday when I'll be going to WBA. Anyway night all have a good weekend.
I was just thinking that Macauley Bonne has a look of Ray Treacy about him. Then he goes and scores a very good goal against Derby County. I have a gift!
a very good game, full of stellar performances, notably Sarr,Pratley,Gallagher and Field in second half. Hugely impressive, never really in doubt and Dillon had little to deal with. Great goals too. All in all a very satisfactory Saturday what with England earlier in the day, and Millwall throwing away a 2 goal lead with 6 mins to go .
Very good all round performance. Think had Williams stayed on we could have scored a hatful, he was running the show.
Will probably get shouted down, but up until the goal I thought Gallagher looked off the pace today and was worried so many games were catching up with him.
Pratley my mom. Won everything, he suits that role in the middle of 3 centre halves very well.
Cracking move and finish for the opener.
Suspect Cocu will get the boot from Derby before long. The way he had them playing is totally at odds with the Championship and they seemed unable to cope with being pressed. It's noticeable that since Swansea did a job on us (pressing high up the pitch) we have adopted a very similar approach.
First game this season. Was gonna put a bet on Charlton to win and Bonne first time scorer. Got a bit of man love going on for Bonne. Works so hard. Everyone done so well, maybe I see Leko in a different way to others. Such a frustrating player. Really is.
Outstanding, truly outstanding. What a bunch of lads we have and such a great time to be a CAFC fan. Baby Beckham on the scoresheet with the goal of the season.
First time at The Valley this year. Everything that has been written about the new atmosphere is true. Honestly, cannot remember when it has been better. I mean that, for a routine game, the crowd doesn't wait for the team to lift them before they get going.
I don't think Derby are a rubbish team. We just played them off the park with our energy and workrate. By the third they just wanted to get the hell out of there.
Never forget the immortal words of Sir Lennie: " By October, the die is cast"...
To a man we were superb. Pratley was a beast. Cullen has an engine. Field I thought was class today and Kayal also showed signs of promise in his brief cameo.
If Gallagher continues on this curve. He’ll be an England international.
Bonne is also showing he is more than capable of deputising for Taylor.
I wonder what Bowyer will do when Purrington is fit.
Did anyone catch much of the handbags in first half. Lockyer vs waghorn was it?
Absolute magic. Well played all. Darren MOTM for me, closely followed by Lockyer and Josh Cullen. What a goal by Gallagher. The dip he got on it was incredible.
Great goals and a team that’s getting better and betterer 🙂 Bonne is coming on leaps and bounds and Pratley was süperb. Then the ever energetic skillful Conor caping his performance and the team’s performance was the icing on the cake. I’ll mark them all 10/10.
You could see from the outset the players were hell bent on getting revenge for that 1946 F.A. Cup Final defeat. Indeed every team Lee Bowyer puts out is hell bent on getting something every game. I mean when does 'this is all getting a bit silly now' morph into 'this is all getting a bit serious now'? The simple answer by the way, to all questions about life, the universe and everything is 'Whatever Lee Bowyer says'. Whether it's from the touchline, the stands or on the training pitch! IT IS WHAT IT IS might be the wisest saying since Confucius walked the earth, closely followed by WE'LL FIND OUT WON'T WE. Indeed Derby County found out what all the rest have been finding out, that we are as Bowyer continually says 'good players' and 'we will surprise a few people'. I think it might be reasonable to say that for all the significant minutes in the game we totally dominated Derby and they found it difficult to live with us. Indeed it is weird, because palpably Derby and loads of these Championship teams have good players, the number 10 who kept getting booed looked a damn good player to me, and there were others (although not Waghorn today) who you wouldn't mind playing for us, yet I wouldn't have swapped any of the Derby County juice today for any of the Charlton right stuff. They were never from concentrate but we were freshly squeezed and natural. No single Charlton player was a less than 7 in my eyes, sod it, none were less than 7.5. We took a Swanseaesque early lead, but built on it. The second goal just after half time was a bit harsh on Derby seeing as they were still in the changing room when we scored, but as it was Naby the (crappy) ref let it stand anyway. Then we build on the usual platform of 80% Charlton effort, plus 20% Charlton Class, with the addition of 100% Conor class, great third goal that wasn't even a thunderbolt, it was simply a great goal. The Bowyer set up of pressing Derby high up, dropping the superb Pratley into a fluid back line worked brilliantly. You might have expected a diminution in our play when Williams went off, but for me that was the best we have seen of Field so far. Bowyer talked of preparation in the week, and it was so good that today was even sometimes a bit of a cruise, a surprise against Derby when you consider the millions of pounds they had on the pitch compared to out own fifty pence outfit. As for the players, well Dillon made sure of the clean sheet when Derby pressed for that late consolation goal, and my analysis in true Fast Show style is: Solly scorchio, Pratley scorchio, Lockyer scorchio, Forster Caskey scorchio, Cullen scorchio, Gallagher scorchio, Williams/Field scorchio, Bonne scorchio, Leko nearly scorchio and of course Sarr was red hot scorchio.
What also feels weird is writing all this knowing I would still be utterly delighted with staying up. Nothing makes sense any more and the illuminati have won.

Not rubbish, but this is going to a season of transition for them.
Last season they had Lampard as manager, plus Wilson, Mount and Tomori in the side. Any team in this league is going to struggle losing that lot.

That was like last season when we dominated games from start to finish, scored goals and cruised the last 20 minutes.
Derby offered almost nothing and deserved even less.
Not a poor performance from our players. All did well in a new formation.
Fine pass from Sarr to put Williams away, fine cross too but Bonne does so well, gets in front and touches in. He is improving game by game, Lyle who? : - )
Pratley marshalled the back three well. JFC and Solly did very well as wing backs and the midfielders ran their hearts out.
Sarr scores with a great header but Gallagher tops both goals with a sublime dipping shot.
Dillon had very little to do but when called on late on he kept a clean sheet.
Bowyer can stay in the stand if that's how we play.
