The only way round taking out a mortgage for a standard train fare is to take a punt on a cheap advanced ticket and on this occasion many of us will come up short.
I would love to see the whole rail industry renationalised and all these greedy rail operators go bust.
If you like myself went for the advance booking using nominated train to from and from a specific station they have written on the ticket non refundable. Over the years have had games cancelled due to weather or moved by TV and never had these very cheap tickets refunded.
