So we could start our next game with the following (Assumes Shinnie already signed before 12pm)

    Amos
    Gunter - Inniss - Famewo - Maatsen
    Shinnie - Watson
    Maddison - - - - - - - - Doughty
    Bogle - Washington

Subs: M.Brewer, Purrington, Pratley, Levitt, Williams, Smyth, Aneke
  • Done deal for Smyth.
    He was announced at 4.31.
No he wasnt... Was announced @ 4.30
  • Whatever people's views are on the window just think of where we would be right now under ESI's ownership. I for one think we have done some very good business in ridiculously tough conditions with the cap and embargo. Will judge once everyone has been here a few weeks and Bow has got the team to gel.

Two fantastic signings Imo, it's nice to see us finally having depth in each position. Going to be an interesting one tomorrow with so many new faces.
  • I didn't want Bonne sold because I wasn't sure who we might replace him with. Looking at all the business in its entirety, I think Bowyer is trying to spread the goals through the team. If we pose enough problems, who knows. We do have to remember the level. I do think people respect League One a bit more than they should.

The challenge is to get things working quickly. And to become a front foot team again. We certainly should be able to do that.
This is very true, if Josh Magennis can get 10+ goals in a season I think nearly anyone can!
But we didn't go up with Magennis up front...

Washington is the closest we have to a goalscorer but if both are fit, I would like to see Aneke and Bogle softening up defences and we could be successful. But we do have quite a few ifs in there.

  • Shinnie and Smyth look like identical twins. Is someone cloning these guys?

Decent window as far as I'm concerned. On paper we have signed without a shadow of a doubt the most threatening midfielder in this league for the past 4 seasons in Maddison. Nottingham Forests captain who was integral for them, Gunter who has never played at this level? Shinnie who won promotion, a hard nut centre back, Bogle who has moved twice for 7 figure fees, young Chelsea talent and now a nippy forward just in the last few weeks.

That is absolutely a good window, you will struggle to find another league 1 side with a better window. I understand selling a player for 2 million and not spending it is frustrating but it probably covers the fees for all the players we have brought in. I also don't like the snobbery I've seen on twitter about Luton, the reality is they've been a better run club than us in recent years and have a better side, that's football, swings and roundabouts.

Roll on the rest of the season, very much half glass full
Josh Parker has had 2 promotions on the trot and is now a Championship player.
That’s like saying Liverpool’s third choice keeper is a premier league winner! Parker has played less than 10 times for Wycombe

Excellent window. 9 in short period of time to add to the 2 before. Would have liked to have had an extra  striker and I am sure Bowyer would to. However starting from where we were 2 weeks we must be realistic.
Could be an interesting season. Need to keep in touch while gelling. The league is a marathon not a sprint!
  • Doughty stays?
As does Phillips at this rate...

Whenever I've seen Smyth play I've really rated him, reckon he's slightly quicker than doughty too. Versatility will be useful as gives us a different option up top as well as on the wing.

Can't see him being thrilled with his agent. Bloody hell, what a mess.

I wonder why Smyth wasn’t included in the Bonne (who we should never have let go) deal?

Maybe we just had other targets at that time.
QPR don’t use him as a striker so they wanted to sign Adomah / Willock before letting him go on loan.

    Is that it?

Yes, people are being a bit harsh on a player we haven't seen play for us. League One defenders are generally slow and if we do have pace, strength and ability, many of them ought to crumble.

Doughty has just posted a picture of himself in a Charlton shirt on his Instagram, so assume he is staying

His agent has ruined him here, really poor and another example of not always doing what’s in the best interests of their client.

Sure looks like it at the moment, which is great news IMHO.

All in all it's been a good window.

Miracle where the team is now really considering where we were a few weeks ago.

I do think selling Bonne was a mistake at this point as I'm not convinced we have enough goals in us but time will tell and what do I know.

Excited to see this lot play

I like the look of Smyth from the (very) limited youtube clip that was on here the other day. I just hope he can finish off all the chances that our supa dupa midfield will be creating............

Good news that the two today appear to have been with is for a little while.

    All helps.

Given where we have come from in the last few weeks, I am very happy with what we have done in this transfer window. Disappointed to lose Bonne, although I felt he hadn't done anything since the (first) lockdown, but Lee, Steve and Thomas have brought in some great experience, both in general terms and in terms of this division.

We may be a little light up front (not you Chuks  ;) ) but we have a midfield (and defence with Gunter and Maatsen) full of attacking promise and players who can provide the assists that some of our front men may never have had before.

I'm really looking forward to the next few weeks as these guys all start gelling.
