Good win, rode out luck at times, a little scrappy early on.
If Tommy Boy can get it over the line and we get these 'eyebrow raising' players in. It'll be a great season I expect.
If not, then top ten wont be to bad until the next knight in shining armour takes oN trying to unravel the infinite labyrinth that is ownership of Charlton.
I didn’t think we played particularly well but we always looked comfortable.
a shout-out to the make-shift defence and Amos looked as safe as he did last time around, therefore, I can see why we’re prepared to cash-in on Phillips.
Strength in-depth is the problem right now but hopefully we’ll get that sorted in the coming days/weeks...
Any neutral watching that cannot fail to be mightily impressed and might possibly conclude that Charlton will be a real threat. That may well be the case, but so much of that game was disjointed and unconvincing. Having now watched Quest and Match of the Day it seems that the general malaise and rustiness is widespread so it's hard argue with Bows view that the main thing was the 3 points and clean sheet. We will play better and this victory will help build confidence and momentum. From a personal standpoint it was fantastic to watch a game with my son for the first time since March.(socially distanced of course) We hooked my PC up to the TV screen. Later watched Liverpool/ Leeds and then Quest and MOD. Chewed the fat and had a real laugh - amazing what we used to take for granted before lockdown
I think first game up with a transfer embargo (thanks Southall you twat) three points was key. Take the positives, dome good performances here and there. The negatives can be ironed out a bit as new signings and new owner hopefully come in. First day of the season rarely suggests how things will pan out, so for me yesterday was just enjoying a win.
Took us a while to get going but thought we were comfortable if not spectacular. Defence is the obvious issue but hopefully we can patch that up sooner rather than later.
Can’t be too disappointed picking up points while we wait for the takeover to go through, happy days!
Also happy for Doughty to get a goal, I’d been a bit concerned before he was going to carve himself out loads of chances but always fluff the shot. Hopefully this gives him confidence going forward.
Bowyer not happy with performance. Setting his standards pleasingly high because I was impressed with a lot of our play. As he said, take the (wonderfully morale boosting) 3points and "we go again"

Another game closer to a takeover and stability.
He’s always set standards high and I think it’s one reason we compete in almost every game under him. It’s never been acceptable to use what’s going on in the boardroom, lack of signings or our budget as an excuse.
It was quite relaxing. Finished work at 12pm yesterday. Got some chicken and chips form round the corner, was having a nice relaxing beer watching Sky sports sat, not panicking of a goal going in just before half time and with 10 mins to go thought "Not even Charlton can lose this", At the time seeing Thomas keeping an eye on the game tweeting, 1-0, then 2-o and then after "saying well done Lads". In the last week since PE has got a trial for a right of a appeal being accepted and his laughable statement in Standard, I have gone from very angry to very chilled. If Mr Stangaard is quite relaxed about it all and not worried then neither am I? Last Week when he turned up at the ROD he had a smile like the Cheshire Cat. So was I at 5pm last night.
What is nice, is for the first time in 4 or 5 years (or however long this shit show has gone on for) I feel as though I can get genuinely excited about a prospect like Doughty or Gilbey.
We should now be a club on the up, and one players hopefully won’t want to jump ship from first offer they get to do so.
Did JFC add anything? He's such a hit 'n miss player, that his performance swings each game.
Beggars can’t be choosers. He’s not the answer but he’s ours.
He has to realise that he is a senior player now. Really need him to step up. Hair and beard looks great, but be good to see some games dominated.
For me, he’s not a holding midfielder and he’s not really a deep-lying playmaker either. Got the ability and passing range to be, but more able to put his stamp on the game than that. He’s far better when he has someone more defensive next to him and can allow him to venture forward that bit more. He was, at times, excellent next to Kashi. He’s got the ability to score goals and was really unlucky not to score in the second half.
Maybe if Levitt turns out to be a great signing and plays the deep-lying playmaker role, it could free up Forster-Caskey to get forward and contribute more in front of goal. That to me, is where he‘s more effective.
I find JFC very ordinary nearly every game. He's not bad, but he doesn't make an impression.
He's not a great shield in front of the defence like Pratley.
He doesn't make crunching ball winning tackles.
He doesn't slide through passes like Gilbey did today for the first goal.
He's not an up and down player.
He doesn't run into dangerous positions and he rarely shoots.
What does he do? Basically moves the ball on sideways mostly in an anonymous way.

Please can we go with this line up on Tuesday and try and give them a game?
Cracking ball from Gilbey? for Doughty’s goal
Very early days and haven't seen enough to judge but I get the feeling he'll be a Championship player in a year or two... hopefully with us.

Yes. But get Greg and Terry to learn how to pronounce his name properly!
We won without being troubled and we didn't even have to withstand much pressure at the end.

We need to rest up many of that 11, ready for next Saturday.
