I thought we looked the better side through the first half, but then looked very hesitant throughout the entirety of the second. Sometimes, a soft penalty and a clearly offside goal will fire up a team, but we just seemed to lose our nerve today. Lincoln were ordinary at best.
We’re just days out of a long, long period of high stress and uncertainty. It will take time until that spell is broken. Let’s take the opportunity to focus on the fact that with Thomas we’re on the way up, irregardless of poor results like today.
Didn't expect to win and thought a draw would be lucky against a tough, experienced side that have come from non league to here in not very long. They aren't a tinpot side despite what some on the prediction thread seem to think. They would struggle in the champ largely because their earning potential is limited, but are proper contenders at this level.
We are just days into starting to rebuild so I'm just not going to worry about this - I'm still excited about the possibility of seeing Charlton become once again a team to be reckoned with after a real chance of ceasing to exist. We will look like a very different team by May.
First half - some good football and we had our chances. Couldn't see why the penalty was given - good save by Amos but must have been offside for the goal. Slow start (again) to the second half. Thought the changes didn't work and it finished us off...
Starting to see why it’s has taken three years to come out of division the last couple of times. We have an arrogance that as we’ve played in championship we deserve to pick the win against these small clubs. Need to get back to what works in league 1.
Movement up top by Bonne & Washington was terrible and gave Lincoln an easy 90 mins.
Two weeks in a row we’ve conceded and we haven’t offered anything after the goal. This is a concern Bowyer. Unless we score first we are always going to get beat.
Queue the 'we lack quality, Bowyer has nothing to work with, we need new players' brigade who totally ignore the fact that Doncaster and Lincoln are not exactly full of quality themselves yet have won by basically just doing nothing much.
Personally I feel we have been tactically all over the place the last two games. I really don't understand what the game plan is in the centre of the pitch - our centre midfielders just end up so deep. It's like we want to try and stay 0 - 0 until Williams comes on.
Got to remember we're on the same points we were on after three games in 2018/19
We've got plenty of style about us at this level but still need to find some substance - Problem is we need to be the team scoring first, cant think of just a handful of teams that wont score first and sit back to protect what they've got... Its exactly what Lincoln did all game and I give them credit for that
Every time we went forward in the first half they ensured that they got bodies back and in numbers that made them impossible to break through... When they got their goal they had even less impetus to get forward which made our job even harder as they gave even less space which made passing / crossing all the more harder
As I said just before they went 1-0 up... This is something we need to get used to in League One as Lincoln might be up there, they might not but they're not going to be the first team that'll play like this!!
The secret to getting out of this Division is pretty simple... Find a way to break those teams down!!
We were 2-1 to win before the game and I wasn't tempted. V's Lincoln...!
I only watched the last 20 mins, it was dreadful. What was the corner about for their second, Oshilaja just kicking it out of play, I never even saw that in the Bromley & Orpington 5th division when I used to play Sunday league. Then a free header for their top scorer.
Our team is a million miles away from top half, let alone promotion. Those talking about how many midfielders we have... Maybe in numbers but not in quality. We need reinforcements all over the pitch.
First half should have had 2 goals, then the absolutely incompetent officials allow a goal that was at least 2 yards off-side!!! Second half we were awful....gifted them a corner in the 88th minute and put no-one of any height on their top-scorer! We need 8/9 new players as a matter of urgency and Pearce back very soon. I was one to give Bonne a chance but last two games he has been appalling, and without a out and out striker we are fucked!! Positives were Levitt, Washington, Oztumer (sp), Purrington and Akin (Norwich youngster)......with a decent cameo from Watson...thats it!!
When we are able to field our first 11 like we were today, it should be better than that. Christ we should have been 3 up. However, I called on Lincoln will score, we will turn shit and then let in a soft second. We really are just fecking predictable. Still we will have a few new bodies shortly, what’s the betting they join the shit show, rather than improve it.........
Few things (forgetting the abysmal decision for the 1st goal). Doughty should be taking games like this by the scruff of the neck....but looked pretty average today. Oshilaja is pants. The way he gifted them the corner for the 2nd goal is inexcusable.
Don’t get the Williams thing - fit enough to start for Wales but not in league 1? Don’t understand it.
Sounds like a shocking decision, but a familiar tale of not finishing opportunities/converting chances into goals.
It will be exceedingly difficult to win promotion this season. You can't repair 6 years of grave mismanagement ending in 9 months of decay like we've just had in a fortnight's worth of new signings whilst constrained by a salary cap.
2020/21 needs to be about getting the club back on a level and starting to build. Anything else is a bonus. You never know, we might get to a point where we finish a season and don't see half our squad disappear out of contract or on loan return (unless we want them to).

First half ok but we degenerated in second half and lost shape. Forwards are a concern. Lots gonna depend who Bowyer brings in. Not confident at all we will push for play offs. Let's judge more after Christmas and see where we are.
Liked the look of Famewo, Levitt grew into the game and I though Oztumer was responsible for a lot of our better play, although if you're relying on him to head a cross in the box something has gone seriously awry with the formation. I'm assuming taking those three off was for fitness rather than tactical reasons as we definitely lost something when we did. Will be interested to see how much of Bowyer's focus is on us not taking our chances, as opposed to the ref being utterly woeful.
the first half performance was okay, if we had better composure and decision making in the other teams area, we would have been in the lead which might have meant the poor second half performance wouldn’t have happened.
there were positives and also negatives. We need more players! No need to panic just yet!
Today also showed how our luck in the game hasnt improved
Lincoln; Get a free kick from a dubious handball... goal from an even more dubious offside Charlton: Levitt has an effort, leaves the goalkeeper misplaced, ball trickles the other side of the post
Lets not kid ourselves, had that effort been the opposition then that would have been a clear goal!!
Somehow we looked comfortable in that first game... Ever since though having today as the first missed game we look disorganised and that's Bowyer's job to sort.
We can blame the tools on the pitch, but it's the managers job to get the best out of them, not blame them.
Only three games in and we have some points on the board, BUT Lee will need the backing that he is looking for and some of our players need to remind themselves that they are capable of a lot lot better than today.
A shame they couldn’t put on a bit of a show, but this is the Charlton way...

This is supposed to be an Olympic sport for Christ sake. Not a game made up by children in a playground.
Is it handball - offside - a penalty maybe.
I don't know mummy.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeee… I'm a referee!

In 2018/19, we had (until the end of January) Taylor and Grant up front.
This year we have got Bonne and Washington up front.
And that's why we are going nowhere this year.
