Very scrappy 1st half but in the 2nd we made better use of the conditions than The Cobblers had.
This was a HUGE team performance for me with every single one of our lads playing their part. Would be harsh to select a MOM.
Saying that, I was so pleased to see our Jonny taking the opportunity to start with both hands/feet. Giving the gaffer more options than he ever dreamt possible.....and the fans more optimism .
FOUR clean sheets on the trot too .....sorry, Dillon.
Didn't think I 'd ever be smiling this much after watching us win from our sofa and would hazard a guess that even Golfie can't stop grinning.
3 more games before our latest attempt at a looong Cup run.
Could that be 9 more points for our battered and bruised boys ?
Especially given the conditions how good were the defence?! Really think in Famewo & Inniss we have something similar to Morrison & Taylor/Cort. Capably supported by Gunter & Maatsen. Behind them Amos superb.
I wasnt impressed by Maatsen today, difficult game though given the conditions
Thought he struggled to get going for the most part, can see why he's been eased into the first team rather than starting straight away
Would you pick Purrington to start the next game?
Didn't think so.
Que?
I didnt say he was shit, I said I felt he struggled given the conditions - And yes if the opposition required it then I would switch him on occasions with Purrington
I dont give up on a player after one mistake, @Sage made a very good point after Blackpool about him, thought you'd understand that Leuth?
"The change in the second half with Prattley in the midfield re-energised our attack and we became more fluid despite the worsening conditions."
No, we didn't. This is the fakest of news. The entire game was a truly dire shitfest played in gale-force winds against a team of brutes. We created even less passing play in the second half. The impact Pratley had was to offer us another big lad to stick in the box for a set-piece, and he duly Brexited one in from a decent knockdown and a Bogle random-ball-direction-generator. The actual game was a continuum of horror, and I'm very glad we came out on top, because fuck me, if we hadn't won that, I'd be a little glum right now. Glummer than I am. Which, given my various pronouncements on the match thread, is not as glum as I should be
Ryan Inniss changed the game. He was our X-factor in both boxes. He has The Force
I feel like Naby's implosion for Huddersfield is a beautiful metaphor for how badly wrong you've got it today.
I'm just not cut out for a windy afternoon in Northampton

No, but Maatsen was still at the very least solid today and wasn't ever skinned. I can't think of a single circumstance where I'd pick Purrington ahead of him. Decent League One pro versus someone who's virtually good enough for the Premiership even now
Look brilliant at the back. Pratley made a huge difference when he came on - very well taken goal. So nice to have options.
Innis carries on like this and he's got POTY sewn up. Nothing looks like getting past him. Famewo is equally effective but goes about it in a subtler way. Gunter and Maatsen look very solid and are very capable of bombing forward and linking up play.
We found it very hard first half but we continued to battle and eventually it started to pay off. Hopefully Alfie just had some cramp but we have Maddison ready to come in.
Really hope Chukwuemeka (didn't know that was his full name!) is able to come back into the team on Tuesday as he brings so much to the team up top. Although Bogle put himself about well today - he desperately needs that first goal. Gutted Smyth couldn't bury that chance.
4 clean sheets in a row and 10 points from 12 - superb. Especially considering this team has just come together. This could be an exciting season indeed.
Also, huge shout out to Amos - he looks so assured and commanding in his area and his distribution is better than Philips' so far. Great ready-made replacement for last season's POTY

Wouldn't it be great if the Famewo loan deal has an option to buy ? Too much to hope for I know but with him and Innis I think we would be well set up for a few years
Thought the back 5 immense - rest of em, ok ish, apart from Williams, poor - great to get the 3 points
I don’t think Williams was that bad, the game passed him by a little, but it wasn’t really the type of game/ conditions you would expect him to be good in. I think he is taking a bit of unnecessary stick based on bowyers comments. I’m sure he will come good again, and maybe chip in with a goal or two.at the moment I don’t see why there should be any negativity. Like bows says ‘let’s go on a journey!!!.And yes the back 5 were top class.👍
Good result, but poor game played in a gale force wind on a bobbly pitch. I thought Levitt looked lost in the first half, he hasn't got the physicality to play that role against an aggressive, strong verging on the dirty side type of opposition. As he couldn't control the base of midfield, the rest of the players in midfield struggled. Prattley coming on made a huge difference. The centre half pairing of Innis and famewo looks great, with Innis my man of the match. Amos played well and his distribution for the own goal was fantastic. Alfie's injury looked serious, hammy for me, 4-6 weeks out. Bogle impressed in the second half with his workrate and no little skill. Up to 8th game in hand COYA.

Well, Fanny's believing once more.

Absolutely buzzing. 3 wins in a row and 4 clean sheets in a row.
Roll on Tuesday night.
Enjoy your weekends everyone! COYR

Edit: We're both right. You learn something new every day
You know how Bowyer thinks.
And he'll also know how Gobbo Robbo thinks.
Amos
Gunter Inniss Famewo Pearce Maatsen
Watson Pratley
Doughty
Bogle Aneke
Kick and rush, strictly no passes to teammates, win yer corners, bish bash bosh
Strength in depth at last.
And to think it was his first ever game at this level. Seems to have a promising future, maybe as a top ref?
Anyway, good luck to him.
If he continues to have good games like today then he doesnt stand a chance of rising up the league given the standard of officials higher up
He'll change the shape and gameplan whenever he needs; and sure, Pearce will play a part in that.
The defence is becoming properly solid so now the attacking side can develop and hopefully we can see a clean sheet AND better performances.
Levitt/Williams/JFC wasn't a great trio, all 3 can add something to this side but not together.
Amos
Inniss
Pratley/Watson
Aneke/Bogle
That's your spine, start with this as much as possible and with the options we have add to it as per tactics and game plan.
Amos played well and his distribution for the own goal was fantastic.
Alfie's injury looked serious, hammy for me, 4-6 weeks out.

Be interesting to see that back 4 against anyone with pace, but so far they look pretty unbeatable.
Now need the midfield to really click and Bogle/Aneke go on a scoring run.
