as you write FA it'd be good to give Maynard-B (especially) and Maddison a run out .. however I hope Bowyer doesn't just select any old pick up team and in doing gives Plymouth a better chance to win than they deserve. The Pilgrims are in decent form themselves and in these tough economic times both clubs could use a win prize however slim it may be. ALSO, it'd be nice for us to go on a decent cup run for a change .. there is no better habit than the winning habit.
EDIT .. b t w thanks for the write up on Ryan Lowe, a manager well worthy of respect and surely destined for a Premier L job one day

CAFC 2 v Plymouth Argyle 0
A decent manager but a bit premature to suggest he's destined for the Premier League, having never played higher than L1, and so far having achieved 2 successful L2 promotion campaigns
It's worth noting that he left Bury well before they collapsed, so clearly was aware that the club was in trouble, despite just being promoted

So presumably a loyal servant like yourself would hang around an organisation even knowing that it was certain to go bankrupt and leave you out of a job ? .. IF so then big idiot you ((:>)

I wasn't criticising him, if anything I was praising him for being aware of what was going on, as it certainly wasn't obvious to the outside world what was going on at Bury when he took the Plymouth Job on the 5th June
If anything it was more a reply to the excellent match preview on the 1st page, which slightly gives the impression that he took the Plymouth job because Bury collapsed
Can't give shit about this match. Hope none of the recent 1st team are anywhere near the starting 11 & the only ones involved are those needing to play to get minutes into their legs like Maddison.
Can't wait for this one . I love the magic of the cup . Unfortunately, I don't think Bowyer is fussed about this one and will select an under strength side . 3-1 to Argyle .
Yes I know it’s the FA cup but for me it’s all about getting out of this league so not fussed one way or the other, hopefully whatever the team no injuries at all - COYA.
Everyone picking JFC. Yes he was rested last match but hes played a lot of minutes before that and with Gilbey injured he is pretty important. With his injury record I'd be avoiding playing him in this match. If he was too far "in the red" to even be on the bench last match I cant see bow even considering him for this.
I would like to see us put out a team that is balanced (resting some players added to a strongish team), so that we can keep the winning run going! Nothing builds confidence for a team more than winning, and there is now a break for two weeks after tomorrows game. I get that its the FA cup and we're not going to win it, but mentally I would think LB would prefer to keep the run going.
It’s Charlton I want is to win as I do in every game we play. Winning breeds confidence and it likely to be a maximum of 3 or 4 extra games no replays either. Getting out of this league is obviously the priority but as we know our players are just as likely to get injured in training as playing in a match.
I personally wonder if the smaller teams will take the FA Cup a bit more seriously for the prize money I know it’s not huge but 3rd rounds win or a TV game would be a significant amount for clubs getting just IFollow cash as their main income through the door.
Hoping we put out a decent side win, get an easy draw at home win then get Arsenal or Man U be on TV get a significant pay out and use it to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window.
If we win we can use part of the prize money to pay any fine we may incur for playing the full U23 team on Tuesday and give all the players a fortnights rest. Except of course the internationals who apart from the one game Washington is playing in are off for a load of meaningless internationals during a worldwide pandemic!
What is different this season is that we can put out a decent side and rest first team players at the same time. We also have a break after the game. Sometimes you want players to play games, otherwise you wouldn't have friendlies or behind closed doors games.
We have Tuesday for U-23s and players like Maddison (to get more time) and Pearce as a first game back.
No one gives a shit about the FA Cup and for good reason Charlton will not win it this season. My hunch is Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal or Chelsea might be the surprise winners this year as for ten of the last eleven seasons. Even a cup run is pointless without any fans or gate money. Why do they bother?
It is true and a bit sad given the excitement the competition gave us in the past. But I do think we should try to win the game whilst remaining risk averse. There are quite a few players who will benefit from game time. I think maintaining a winning run will not harm confidence either.
I would like to see us try and win it. Not cos we will win the competition - we won't - but to maintain the teams momentum, confidence and winning mentality. We also have enough players (I'm not going to list them - we all know) who haven't played enough minutes, are a bit rusty or unfit and need game time. Put out a decent mix of Under 23's, players needing minutes, and have a backup on the bench. Bowyer always wants to win and I think this game will be no exception. As others have said - there is now a break to the next game - need to keep the win desire going.

Fuck the Cup, we need to get out of this league pronto
'Twas always a sea-faring port, pilgrims and pirates, dockyard and warships.
"Lowe said: “If changes are there to be made then we will have a look at it, but it’s the old saying of why change a winning team?
“The lads are doing terrific and we don’t want to just change for the sake of changing.
“If we look at something and it’s tactical, then maybe, but we are not taking it lightly. We are going to treat it as a league game.”
