Des and Roger Whittaker performed as a duo singing the Skye Boat Song.
It was that awful it was hilarious. I am sure he knew that.The Kop adopted "Careless Hands" when the late Gary Sprake threw the ball into his own net. As AFKA said, Des loved to send himself up.RIP.

The sketches with Morecambe and Wise were so funny - proper old fashioned comedy gold. Something that crossed generations - I remember laughing along with my Dad at them.

For a long time I dismissed him as a lightweight. Later I realised how good an entertainer he was. (Never liked his singing though.)
