    RIP. Not my sort of music, but an all-round entertainer who was never afraid to be sent up. Grew up with him on Morecambe and Wise.

    There was an ad in the 70s - a fisherman playing a Des O’Connor song.  He lowered the speaker into the water and the shocked fish leapt out the sea and into the net.

    Thanks for finding that Andy.  I hadn’t seen the ad but it was recounted in a warm tribute to Des O’Connor in the DomPost morning newspaper.  Made me laugh so thought I would mention it.
