Family entertainer, very gentle humour though well thought out and written, Des Eric, Ernie, Brucie will keep them entertained upstairs. RIP Des always enjoyed your shows.
He’s gone to join the choir invisible ( I bet they’ll try and stay invisible for a while!😉) RIP Des, not quite my cup of tea tbh , but I used to work with a huge fan of his who had met him a few times and she said he was a really nice bloke. 👍🏻
I think of Des as my first gig it was at the London Palidium and I can date it as August 1971 as me and me Dad missed Charlton beating Peterborough in the League Cup. He'd done his ankle in but still performed sitting down. Didn't mind his voice actually
Always loved his ad-lib responses to contestants on his gameshows or when doing standup. Showed great timing and a very intelligent mind. RIP a comedy legend in my era.
Des and Roger Whittaker performed as a duo singing the Skye Boat Song. It was that awful it was hilarious. I am sure he knew that. The Kop adopted "Careless Hands" when the late Gary Sprake threw the ball into his own net. As AFKA said, Des loved to send himself up.RIP.
That was the only Des O'Connor record I ever owned, and even that was bought for me as a joke by my Scottish girlfriend at the time.
Showbiz legend and a top entertainer who evolved without ever being hip!
Not only did Alan Simonsen buy a beige shirt from me in Allders Bromley, but Des O'Conner "bought" a set of bedlinen from me. He was doing a special appearance and I think they got part of their fee in goods from the store. For some reason I think he was appearing with Suzanne Danielle.

Remember watching him in a charity football match on Woolwich Common
One of the nicer Millwall supporters.
Another of the generation of variety artists who could sing, dance, tell jokes and be a presenter or compere.
Now Des and Bruce have gone I'm not sure anyone else of that generation of all round entertainers are left ? (British)
Des was married 4 times and leaves 4 Daughters, and a young son from his last marriage.
RIP Des.

RIP
A beacon of light, who never took himself too seriously and never publicly took offence at the jokes directed towards him.
I'll forgive Des for that. He had the biggest smile and always happy to do things to help out people.
RIP

Had decent US comedians on the show, partly I think because it was syndicated in the US.
