Amos has yet again kept us in a match at 0-0.
If we win today, I hope this is not overlooked

    Should be winning.

We really need better width. So narrow and slow at the moment.
Oh where else did I hear that recently....

A scruffy game, been disappointed with our passing, it's all been quite frantic

You can't point a finger at individuals, it's more the team play which has been a bit below par

On the evidence so far we will be lucky to walk away with a draw from this. Amos has kept us in it twice.

Bogle and Washington have had scraps so far. I just hope we can create more in the 2nd half and nick a goal from somewhere.
That really is half glass empty!

We've been the better team so far. Yes Amos has made a couple of good saves but we could easily be 2 or 3 up and we're the only team playing any sort of football.

    2-0 to Charlton.

    Lucky to be level.

    Gills look quite good.

We look rusty and far too deep when in possession.

    Maatsen is very good.

Maddison will  be after three to four matches.

Very slow build-up all the time, meaning we are spending very little time in the opposition half. I'd like to see us get the ball upfield a bit quicker.

Might as well get it going now I suppose, I've heard that Bowyer had a scrap with Bogle in the dressing room at the end of the game
Whilst Maddison instagrammed his cheeky half-time Nandos
Wrong the scrap happened at ht , I’ve got a mate who works for gillingham and said there was a little bit of argy bargy between the Charlton management and Bogle as they went back to the changing rooms

I'm desperate to score. But I doubt that's enough to let the management bring me on to take a penalty!

That was just a really boring half of football.

    Gillingham get ball.
    Attack down right.
    Comes to nothing.
    Charlton slow build up.

    Rinse and repeat.

Hopefully it will open up a bit in second half.
    "Boring"? Are you being funny?

A penalty miss, a great save from Amos, great 30 yard + free kick from Maddison, Watson's shot from his own half, Shinnie's long ranger just over the bar, a row over who takes the penalty, Steve Evan's screaming like a demented twat and various other chances ....

I was actually thinking that from a neutral perspective it' been quite a good match. Certainly compared to most of the others I've seen this season - ours and elsewhere.
Firstly thank you for mentioning why *you* found the half interesting.

I found it boring and I explained why I found it boring. Why am I 'being funny'? Why can't you simply just say, 'I personally didn't find it boring and this is why.'

What if Bogle had taken the penalty and shot wide
    We'd all be moaning...oh hang on ;)

It’s amateurish from I presume Bogle that he didn’t know penalty’s are Washington’s and if he didn’t know then it’s amateurish from the management , it’s not rocket science .
Or Bogle did know Washington is the penalty taker, but decided himself he’ll take this one.

Why isn't Maddison taking the pens?
Why not put him on goal kicks as well.....
    Weird take.

Good first half. We should be in front.

Fascinating watching us play out from the back every single time in Man city style. Actually seem really confident doing it. Just hope this confidence is well placed!

Still chuckle at those who doubted Ben Amos' ability to step in for Phillips. He's a quality goalkeeper.

Shame about the penalty but credit the goalkeeper for the save.

We will win this in the second half

And finally, Steve Evans really is a loud-mouth *****.

    Rose tints much?

I have to admit I’m a little worried with Amos’s handling as he slides out to make saves,  he appears to spill the ball more than I think he should and I’ve been a big fan of his up till last couple of matches ... so he’s well in credit ... then he produces that worldly save ... so what do i know
I can't say I'm worried about Amos at all

I mean bogle is a massive helm for assuming he was going to take the pen even though washington is penalty taker however I've got a quid on bogle 1st goal 2-0 charlton.

    FFS Washington.

I’m not blaming anyone. It was a decent penalty by Washington and a very good save by the keeper.

But for all those saying Bogle should have taken it, what evidence do we have that he’s any good at taking penalties? Unless he’s a penalty specialist, why would you take the ball away from someone who does score, and give it to someone who doesn’t.

Haven't seen as many Charlton games as most of you this season but the ones I have seen, Washington works hard but doesn't get on the ball enough. We had the same problem with Bonne in games last season.
Taylor was different type of striker/winger goal scorer.

Relax Conor  will have a goal every 3 games despite that. Just like he has already.
    I/We support our players.

Washington will make amends if not today then in the next game.

The down side to the constant changes is you can see the runs in the box look a bit random by the forwards today.

I said in the preview that I didn't think Washington would play because of the 3 games he played for NI.

That’s amateurish from Bogle I’d say

Not watching , but is it the case that Bogle definitely insisted on taking the penalty, ahead of the designated taker?

    Insisted is probably strong

    Shit penalty
How was that a shit penalty? It was a good penalty but an even better save. Why does it always have to be one or the other to some people? Not every penalty saved is bad and not every pen scored is good.
Didnt look near enough to the corner for me and didnt look like it had enough pace on it - Is that better?

Was a bit similar to Grant's penalty against Burton in 18/19 when it just about squeezed past the goalkeepet... Thought that penalty was pretty shit too
