This has been an interesting thread, worthy of some thought.

I've come to the conclusion that it would be safer for a driver to drive a car on the pavement as that way there would be a greatly reduced risk of the driver being injured in collisions with other cars and HGVs, etc. I mean, fuck the other pavement users - right?
Seriously 800 dying a year against someone having to move aside.would you seriously make you child ride on a road. I’ve never seen a child riding a e scooter on a road but according to some they should and they should die.
If you kid was going to ride his bike would you say make sure you ride on the road.
How come we’ve got all these old train lines routes where cyclist and walkers use together if it’s so dangerous.

Children are not required to cycle on the road.
  • Having done PCE (Post Collision Examination)of a Motor Cyclist vs HGV, the worst outcome is always for the people on 2 wheelers.
The only thing that will change legislation is when the KSI ,figures start to rise.

I'm thinking of doing a course myself.
Who comes off worse in a collision between an Elephant and a Hamster.
Can't wait to see the results.
I dare say the Government  will give you a grant for that, and assuming it will take 3 years, could be several million pounds.

Nope same for children as adults except children under 10 have no criminal liability.

  • I’ve stopped walking on the tow path along Regent’s canal due to the number of cyclists. Its okay when the cyclist are coming towards but as you can’t hear cyclists, its always a shocker when they come from behind (oooahh matron). 🤓

So Dave oh wise one off the pavements and roads what’s your opinion on the mobility scooters. Some off them are quite fast nowadays should they be on road or pavement.
It depends on the class of mobility scooter. Class 2 has a max speed of 4mph and is pavement only. Class 3 can be up to 8mph and can be road or pavement - although if you're on the pavement you shouldn't go faster than 4mph. Anything that can go over 8mph is road only.

    https://www.gov.uk/mobility-scooters-and-powered-wheelchairs-rules

    You're welcome.
So just had a look on line some mobility scooters can go up to 18 mph.
That’s faster than most e-bikes crazy I might get rid of me car and get one of these to commute
do you have to pay road tax
  • Melbourne have now banned them.

“ children under the age of 10 are below the age of criminal responsibility. Therefore, they cannot be prosecuted for a criminal offence. They cannot be issued with a fixed penalty notice either as they cannot be given to anyone under the age of 16.

This means that, whilst police officers can theoretically stop young children (aged under 10) who are cycling on pavements, they have no powers to arrest, fine or even caution them.”

They can if there call them far right  😀
so basically it’s same as adults it’s illegal but no one cares except people who hate cyclists and wish they could drive over them killing them because they overtake them and get home quicker than them because of the congestion on the roads.

Why do you say ‘having’ to move aside rather than the cyclist dismounting and waiting?

do you have to pay road tax

    Vehicle tax, registration and insurance

Mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs in ‘class 3’ or not in a class must be registered with DVLA.

You do not need to pay vehicle tax if your vehicle is registered with DVLA as a mobility scooter or powered wheelchair.

You may also need to insure your mobility scooter or powered wheelchair, depending on its weight.

Because that’s what I do if a cyclist  is coming towards me I move out the way and let them past. In fact I normally move out of way of other people who are also walking and let them pass if it’s a narrow path it’s nearly always me that steps into the road.
So thinking about it.Its all to do with people’s mind set some people just think they have priority over everyone else.
What do people do with mobility scooters do you make the mobility scooter stop and pull over to one side while you pass.
If there behind you do you make them stay behind you at your speed or do you make them go in the road or do you move aside and let them past what’s the difference doing this to a mobility scooter a bike or a e scooter.

  • because bike riders are breaking the law, disabled people are not.

    How is that not obvious
  • edited August 15
It’s not to do with law it’s to do with respect.
What about people riding horses do they dismount and let you past.
For some people they just hate cyclists for some reason.
Dave’s already said cyclists should be chucked under buses
Really can’t understand some people what do you want stu everybody that has rode on a pavement locked up I think you’d find there wouldn’t be many people free.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

    Hope that helps.

    Afternoon SMTW2GH

Been too busy today to play unfortunately!

Get it right ffs, I actually said the ones using the pavement should kicked in front of busses
  • I don't dislike cyclists, just I dislike having to make way for cyclists when I am walking along the pavement.
If a cyclist came across an adult walking a couple of toddlers along the pavement whilst holding their hands, wouldn't a cyclist wait rather than force the adult to wrangle the toddlers out of the way? They may also have a dog on a lead.

Should the criminals not have the respect to not inconvenience law abiding citizens?

And no, I don’t think people should be locked up, but fined absolutely
  • Nice of you to show up Dave knob head I owed you one. So all kids riding there bikes on pavements should be kicked under a bus.according to Dave
    nice one.

    Wrong again I’m afraid

“Any adult cyclist or scooter rider that goes on the pavement should be kicked in front of a bus, the pavement is for pedestrians.”

  • We’ve got riots people driving with no tax and insurance nonce news readers. People roaming the streets knifing people and stu wants the police to prioritise people riding on pavements.
    Get a fucking grip man.
  • Can you please show me where I said that it should be a police priority?

Continually making stuff up isn’t a good look.

Actually stu I’ve just called the police to arrest all our first team squad because I’m sure I see them all cycling on the pavement pre season. I’ve got video evidence too

You can lead a horse to water but a pencil must be lead.
  • Thanks for the entertainment again today lads ready to cycle home now feel like actually cycling on the pavement tonight just for the sake  of anarchy.
Glad Dave don’t drive could see him driving a bus and mounting pavement to take me out for the sake of humanity.
