Has Bowyer lost it?

22 points from 20 matches and most of those games were against teams in the bottom half of the table including the bottom side who did the double over us - they've only won 4 other games all season!!!!

I said that LB shouldn't go 'til it is virtually impossible to get into the Play Offs. That isn't that far off in reality.

  • As terrible a time it was under duchatelet, at least you knew when a manager was shit there was a bloody good chance he’d get sacked (freaye the exception)!

bowyer is too stubborn to walk, and I worry that Sandgaard is too shit scared to pull the trigger... let’s hope Ged Roddy has got some bollocks
  • In excuses bingo I'm going to go with the offside goal in the first half as Bowyers excuse tonight, and so therefore it's the linesmans fault.
  • Utterly clueless - no tactics and bizarre team selections. Run out of excuses.
  • Ok.

Have defended and argued for Bowyer to stay.

Today’s result and performance confirms that he is not going to pull us out of this. Starting formation smacked of trying something radical in a shit or bust manner.

    Didn’t pay off.

Time for a change and hopefully the season ends on us heading upwards rather than downwards.

Some great memories - the play off final of course is at the top but I will long remember the first half performance against Forest last season as the best I had seen in a decade.
  • We’re just rudderless at the moment. Totally brittle mentally. Any kind of setback after a decent start, even just conceding an equalizer and it’s like it’s game over. Starting formation was weird but the surprise factor seemed to work for us. Once Burton adjusted though we’ve offered very little and the subs only destabilized us. We look a million miles away from an organized team unit. I’m an extremely patient fan but even I’m starting to wonder what the fuck Bowyer gets up to Monday to Friday in training. It’s a big test for a manager, being able to turn a slide around. We’ve been sliding since November 2019 and there are fewer and fewer signs that Bows knows how to stop it.
  • So much appreciation for everything Lee has done for us for the past few years, but he lost this team weeks ago.

If he's still manager on Saturday I'd give up watching

  • 22 points from 21 games against teams with an average position of 15th.  2.75 goals average let in per home game.

Outplayed by bottom place Burton, old played by a hugely out of form Fleteood, beaten by Gillingham.

It is mental he has lasted this long.  Season chucked away by indecision.

  • It’s the messages I think. So much chopping and changing. The players haven’t got a clue how they’re supposed to be playing.
  • I think the time has come for Lee, I think he may walk before he his pushed to save face. I do feel a bit awkward for TS because I think he totally believed in Lee and the team, but some time you have to be cruel to be kind. We just cant carry on like this, things are just showing no signs of changing.
  • How many points did Karl Robinson have when he got sacked?

    Roughly 30 games played?

I think Bowyers out. Probably the right thing to do now.
  • Have made a number of comments recently criticising Bowyer and that another manager could do better with this squad. However, I've been reluctant to fully commit to saying that it's time for him to go, perhaps due to a sense of loyalty and respect for the man.

That's changed this evening. Thanks for the memories, Lee.
  • If he isn’t sacked after that I really don’t know what Thomas is in this for, maybe just naivety but surely Ged is in his ear. He simply has to go.
  • We can't need three or more goals too win a match.
  • Personally I think he will walk rather than wait for the bullet. If he does go what happens to the back room staff do they go as well?

Why would he walk when he has a long contract?

  • Surely Thomas would of heard of or at least be briefed on “new manager bounce”.  It’s not a cliche, it’s great short term, you could make example after example of it working, why not now?  It can’t get worse.

Short term contract for a journeyman manager and assess in the summer, imagine if there was a crowd there it would be toxic.

He will know that he can do no more and would do what is right for everyone, it’s not as if he needs the money,
  • Even though I had been on the Bowyer out camp I guess pretty early in the thread, I kind of believed that we should have a replacement lined up ready to go (Paul Cook is who I want), and if we don't then keep him til that is sorted. I guess even then I've changed that he just has to go tonight. I'd like to see Euell get a chance as a caretaker so he can impress and get a managers job elsewhere potentially, but even if he does well as caretaker we need to be looking outside to rebuild. I mean you don't know for sure, but I don't think JJ is right for it either.

It's one of those at this stage where Bowyer needs to go soon so as soon as he is gone, he can just go back to being remembered fondly and thinking of the good times and being a friend of the club whatever he does next. Seems like it's just being spoiled the more this goes on. He's done a lot but yeah this ship just doesn't look like turning in this direction we're going in now and we need to stop before this gets worse.

Paul Cook ideally, but the Cowleys I'd buy into as well as options to sound out and see if they are interested. Think the salary cap ruling makes us A LOT more appealing job than we would have been a month or so ago.

I do honestly think if there was a crowd, we wouldn’t be in this position!

But there isn’t any fans, and we are in this position sooooo

    Mutual consent?

I think he could come to an agreement. His heart or his head doesn't seem to be in it anymore.
  • Yeah, think this one has run it's course.

I've never thought he was a genius or anything like that, but always admired his ability to get the team working hard for each other, but it's just gone isn't it?

That 18/19 team was a ridiculously talented team and we scraped up (what a day, obviously). I think I was more impressed by what he did in the championship because that team had no right to mid-table come December and the fact that we nearly stayed up, despite being worse than the team we had the previous year, was an outstanding effort.

This season though, man. It's not enjoyable, it's not even productive. This is an above-average league one squad IMO, should be comfortably playoffs at least. This isn't good enough.

Not sure TS will pull the trigger and tbh I'm slightly worried just how expensive it would be to sack him because I imagine that Bowyer had Southall bent over a barrel when discussing that contract. Maybe it's best to wait the season out and give Bowyer the chance of a miracle push for the championship, because it almost feels too late for anyone else to come in.

    Hit reset in the summer.

    Thanks Lee

I’d really get Curbs in. Makes total sense. Watched all the games, knows the players.
    Agreed.
