  • No idea why, but confident of this one.

    Amos
    Matthews - Gunter - Oshilaja - Maatsen
    Morgan - F.Caskey
    Williams                             Millar
    Washington - Bogle

I can see Aneke and Schwartz coming on for the last 30. We'll win 2-0.

Gunter with a goal saving slide tackle with 2 minutes to go, we all think it's a foul but ref misses it and we score on the counter.
  • Didn't Bowyer say Matthews would play RB and Gunter CB in his conference?

Think, and hope, that's pretty close to the Team Bowyer picks. I like Maatsen and Millar down that left, think they have shown they can work well together.

I can understand why but in a way I want Gunter to stay at right back.

He dealt with the Rochdale kid well with better positioning, timing his tackles & interceptions he also had a role to play with the last 2 goals his cross for Aneke and the tackle to start off the move for Schwartz goal. His switch back to RB and 2nd half performance was inspirational imo.

As long as we don't go with 5 at the back again, we don't seem to grasp it tactically.
  • 3-1 to them
  • 2-1 to Bristol Rovers.
  • I think a good start of at least not going behind again will be key. Not confident we can keep a clean sheet. Chucks has had 3 days to recover so should start. I am really hopeful for a win. We need to start getting 3 points otherwise the season fizzles out. Hope Schwartz is fit. Go with Chucks and him up front with Washington to come later and do some running and hassling. Can't see a clean sheet but remarkably I am going for a 2-0 Charlton!!
  • As ever no confidence in these players whatsoever. Rovers are organised now and on the up under Tisdale.

Yet some on here talk about resting players for the Posh game. What are you not seeing over the last month?

2-0 to the Pirates and Bowyer to say we were the better side.

  • Its an away match so classic careful start and execution of fast counter attack. Must play side that finished, poss exception Aneke to bench. I predict a win if we score first. 1-2
  • Cannot see us keeping a clean sheet at the moment so Bristol Rovers 1 - Charlton 3
  • Maybe another 5-5.

Last five:  Rovers lost 2 won 3.  Addicks lost 2 drew 3.

    Rovers 2 Charlton 0
  • 7-7, I reckon. It will be a game we will remember for years to come. I don't like teams that wear quarters much; they should stick to rugby. I'm hoping we come home with three points.
  • I'll be astonished if Chuks starts the game - it'll go against everything LB says publicly about "managing" him.
I expect Bogle and Washington to start, with Chuks and Ronnie brought on for the last 20 or 30.
I'm also expecting Gunter to partner Oshi at CB.
Impossible to predict us at the moment.
If the defence is as disorganised and off their game as Friday, we're toast.
If we play with the attacking drive, invention and finishing as Friday's 2nd half we could win handsomely (and be bloody entertaining to boot).
A combination of both and anything could happen.
    2-2
  • 2-2

    Aneke
    Schwartz
  • Tisdale is an experienced and canny manager but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to pinpoint our current weaknesses. The lack of physicality in midfield is a problem and I think that Rovers will try and play a high energy, pressing game to force errors and get us on the back foot.

I can see Aneke and Schwartz coming on for the last 30 minutes or at half time if we're losing. The problem is that, without Chuks, the ball tends not to stick up front and that puts us under increasing pressure - pressure which we're ill equipped to absorb with a makeshift central defence.

This is the sort of game that a team with promotion aspirations has to be looking to win but I am struggling to see us getting more than a point.
  • If I was managing a side against us I would ensure we had bodies behind the ball when defending and broke quickly.
  • Tisdale wants chaos. They've realised we score and concede lots of goals. Worryingly for us, hardly any fans would define us as an attacking team, but one that aims to be completely disciplined but have failed to be that, leading to goals, goals and goals in this shite league.

  • I see no-one has mentioned Gilbey, even as a sub, so I expect Bowyer will start him just to piss us all off.

I know this is tongue in cheek Large but this to me would be a classic case of a manager having really wanted this type of player in his squad  who he’s pursued . And he’s going to play him come he’ll or high water until he comes good to justify his decision to sign him.

Having said that LB did hook him off at HT on Tuesday. It may work out but at the moment the fans don’t have that belief in or loyalty to the player and won’t put him in their preferred line ups.
  • The only thing that pleases me is that most on here predict anything but a win, so ........................?
  • Just for you ross 1, I'll go 0-2 to the rip roaring Addicks, Chucks and Ronnie to make our day.
  • I find it impossible to predict as I don't know what this manager gone rogue is going to do next. Tuesday was probably as optimistic I have been for a while when I saw the team, but I didn't realise he was going 5 at the back.

I suppose, if he starts the team that came out in the second half  with Barker in for Pearce, we might just win this.
  • I wonder if barker has played against hanlan and so knows his game. If this is the case I’d start barker.

Hanlan is 6 years older than Barker so probably not
  • Hmmm he had got him self in a bit of a tricky situation here.

He has almost got to start the team that started the second half on Tuesday, with either Barker or Matthews coming in for Pearce.

But he can't because he had to leave Chuks and Williams on too long and Schwartz probably isn't ready to start.

If he starts two of Washington, Bogle or Smyth they will know that at least one of them is coming off at half time unless we are winning.  That's not ideal.

I *think* the team he will start will be:

    Amos
    Matthews|Gunter|Oshilaja|Maatsen
    Smyth|Gilbey|JFC|Morgan
    Washington|Millar

Wether that's a 442 or the same 433 we saw against Accrington.   Then it will probably be 3 or 4 changes in personal and a change in formation for Peterborough.

This could be anything from a hammering to us hammering them.
  • Nobody predicting Smyth at RWB ?
