Didn't realise they came out today - been checking the website loads - oh well, must have missed when they were getting released.

Thankfully YouTube should have it covered - unless it is on Sky

I would have thought all 4 QFs would be on Sky.

After "lounging" in the "waiting room " for 30mins I've managed to buy our tkts for the Q Final ! YES!

@PrincessFiona _- Have messaged you so can you please get back to me , thanks.
Interesting experience with their website. Took me an hour to get four but eventually managed it.

Well I suggest the following comments position where those in the profession see the future of county cricket.

Far from this hybrid cricket product being just another channel for bringing a new audience to the game it has introduced a new hierarchy.

    https://www.thecricketer.com/Topics/kent/kent_the_hundred_excuse_one_day_cup_troubles.html

After the recent statement from Mr Billings these latest comments position the demotion of Kent County Cricket is decided.

Two leading representatives of the players place their aspirational goals above and beyond the interests of their contractual employer without comment from the club.

Hello Mr Downton - is there anybody there? No, thought not.

These statements immediately place selection for a Hundred franchise, any Hundred franchise apparently whether you play or not above that of the County who employs you on the basis of playing « elite international » cricket.

    Elite international?

Afghanistan - Mohammed Nabi, Mujeeb Ar Rahman, Rashid Khan, Qais Ahmad
Australia - John Inglis, Chris Lynn, D’Arcy Short,
    Ireland - Paul Stirling
Netherlands - Brandon Glover, Fred Klaassen, Tim Van Der Gugten,
New Zealand - Finn Allen, Adam Milne, Lockie Ferguson, Colin Munro, Devon Conway, Colin de Grandhomme, Jimmy Neesham, Glen Phillips
Pakistan - Mohammed Amir, Washable Riaz,
    Scotland - Brad Wheal,
South Africa - Colin Ingram, Tabraiz Shamsi, Chris Cooke, Imran Tahir, Roelof Van De Mere,
David Wierse, Colin Ackerman, FAF Du Plessis, Dane Vilas, Quinton de Kock, Marchant De Lange, Luis De Plooy,
West Indies - Sunil Narine, Carlos Braithwaite,

20% of those names have represented Kent. With the exception of maybe 5 or 6 names they are either B list internationals, have featured regularly across the County Game or both.

Elite international selection - is it bollocks!

I begrudge nobody the right to any professional and financial opportunity but to progress such opportunity by directly diminishing the status of not only the brand you are contracted to represent but the stakeholder membership it represents reeks of double standards.

How either statement was allowed by Downton is beyond me.

A new cricket hierarchy is in play. From the pinnacle of National Representation you have financial inducements of the IPL and now The Hundred.

The County Cricket Brand has been hugely diminished.

The assertion 11 Kent players should be applauded for their recognition in securing Hundred contracts is delusional.

Only Billings, Klaassen and more latterly Milnes by default have featured regularly.

Blake has appeared once as almost an afterthought while Cox not at all.

Bell Drummond and Denly having largely embarrassed themselves and been dropped.

Leaning disappeared as quickly as he arrived.

Milne and Qais are already part of the Global T20 cricket circus leaving Crawley almost instantly to bugger off to the Test Arena.

You can determine what you feel that says about Kent Cricket.

If I am honest watching the emerging talents of players like Brooks and Smeed prompts me to ask in natural talent terms especially after Livingstone’s earlier international performances precisely what the hell Billings is doing anywhere near the England T20 or one day squad.

When was the last time anybody saw Billings play a knock anywhere near the performance of John Simpson, who is arguably the better keeper, the other night. Sky have even removed Billings from the face of the Franchise replacing him with Jason Roy.

I really don’t begrudge anybody their enjoyment of cricket via whatever channel that maybe but there is only so far you can cannabilise your core infrastructure without looking back …….to realise oops! there really is nothing there …not in this neck of woods.

I am delighted for the thousands who appear to have enjoyed the past 5 weeks of cricketing innovation but in 5 weeks time when it is all forgotten …….until next year - what’s left?

In the vacuum which was once Kent County Cricket someone please tell me there, after the coming QF, will really be anything left of substance worth being interested in.

If those who wearing the shirt don’t give a shit about the brand they represent why should I?

Middle of summer, supposedly. No kent game for 2 weeks, not that the've really played for the last month. An insult to county fans. County cricket almost dead. Killed off by greed of ECB.

It's farcical that you play the group stages of the Blast, the players go off for the 100, then several weeks later the competition resumes!

The 100 final is on Saturday 21st, then 3 days later there's the first Blast QF. Indeed other than the Test match, the 4 QFs are the ONLY men's cricket that week...

We dont need any white ball cricket, we need more red ball otherwise kiss goodbye to a decent test team - the players don't play enough red ball cricket at county level to get into any form for tests

The same applies to bowlers as well as batsmen. White ball bowling (for the likes of Moeen and Curran) is very different from red ball bowling

The counties voted for the ECB 100 plan, including reducing their future voting power. They could have said no, split the reserves and appointed new ECB staff. Kent thought about it i think but had little support.
It’s the greed of the counties and their players for short term gains.

A quick look showed there was no Kent team in the Hundred  and I've barely checked the results since. I grew up on Kent cricket,  poor as it often is, and I won't be suporting London, Birmingham or Southampton.
I have no idea if the new teams will bring in fresh fans, but I doubt I'm the only one disenfranchised by the Hundred. And if it strangles the county game, the ECB should hang their heads in shame.

If you were to put together a world X1 from those currently playing in the Hundred verses those not playing in the Hundred how many would get into both?

Rashid Khan and.............well then I'm struggling. If we were to do the same with the IPL we would be talking an all together different language.

Khan would be the only one for me , think the amount of players that were originally signed and then pulled out for various reasons has impacted it. It's left you with overseas that you'd normally see in the Blast anyway.

This 100%. And I certainly won't be supporting the franchise which, according to Wikipedia, is supposed to be "representing the historic county of Kent". One Kent player in their side and about 93 Surrey. And before anyone says that the side is picked on merit, may I just remind you which of the two teams qualified for the T20 quarter finals? Clue - it wasn't Surrey. Down with the Oval Invincibles Surrey Incognitos!
  • Fantastic post again @Grapevine49. Not that I'm surprised, given the school you attended!

On a positive note (of sorts) for Kent, Alex Blake played tonight and got a decent 44no, so hopefully will return to us in a bit of form

Agree with this covid has had a big effect. Wasn’t Warner and others originally drafted ?

The BBCI don’t let the Indian players play in any other short form tournament apart from the IPL which takes a bit chunk of the world best  players out of consideration.
  • It never bothers me when threads go off topic but…..the 100 is killing cricket and I despise it with a passion,  please take 100 talk to the relevant thread please

Not quite. I believe that the counties that had borrowed from the ECB had their votes pretty much decided for them (or some rather strong suggestions that the ECB wouldn't be so generous in the future and couldn't guarantee interest wouldn't start to be levied at a much higher rate). That amounted to more than half the counties. Other counties went in for the annual bribe. A few counties opposed for as long as they could but couldnt risk losing out on the bribe. Surrey and Essex were the last to give in.

The remaining County Championship games are now on open sale. I'm sure people will be desperate to watch Kent in the 3rd division of this season's competition!

A good chance for Zak to get some runs though

Best laid plans and all that.

Booked an hotel for the T20 QF at a good price as soon as we knew the date. Cancelable too in case we didn't get tickets.

Just found out the hotel is being taken over by the government (for refugees) and of course all other good options are already gone, but have managed to get something.

I know it is horrific what is happening in Afghanistan and other people are going to have hotel bookings canceled too

How does a fully fit, in form, batsman go 50 days, at the height of the summer, without one minute in the middle? Because that's the situation that Jordan Cox has found himself in - last batted on 7th July and will, potentially, be in our QF side on Friday having not picked up a bat in anger since then!

And whilst he has been rewarded for doing nothing, that really doesn't help Kent does it?

    I bet Jordan has.

I reckon he's picked up his bat and waved it in the air shouting "why the hell aren't I getting a chance to play and bat?! Bloody incompetent ECB and their chuffin' Hundred rubbish stuffing up a sensible program for the County game instead of pandering to idiots with an attention span shorter than an England test opener's innings ..."

A number of Kent players were pretty peripheral to the proceedings. The stats don't make great reading really

    https://www.thehundred.com/stats/men?stat=runsScored

Denly had 5 innings, Blake and DBD 3. Zak played once before being recalled to England duty and dropped.

Adam Milne had a great tournament, is he returning to Kent?
