Defensively we coped very well. we looked a lot better when Purrington come on .. great clearance by Gunter but we kept them
at arms length for long periods .... we struggled in mid only because the way the game was played and up front there was very little created for the front men ...
all in all it’s a decent point4 -
Absolute dog shite of a performance.
It was strange how Fleetwood had no problems playing in the windy conditions, whereas Charlton just couldn’t adapt.
Promotion. You’re having a laugh.0 -
Absolute garbage second half. We were atrocious playing into the wind, whereas in the first half Fleetwood found a way of passing the ball and creating chances.
Yes we started the second half badly, but still baffling why we made 4 subs by the 60th minute, it looked a bit desperate
Bowyer looked a beaten man in the VP interview2 -
Crafty57 said:Well that was abysmal! The diamond doesn’t work, why keep going there, stick to 442, but our midfield are pedestrian at best. Technically our midfield is good enough for league one, but there’s no pace there. The one player we did have to attack players with the ball fell out of favour with LB and is now at Cardiff. So with that in mind, the defence will always be under pressure, and our attack gets no service as we don’t seem to win second balls. And how many times did we get away with this torrid passing out at the back, which is fine if we actually pass intelligently, which we don’t.
This is league 1, basic football gets results, pretty football is great if it comes off, but these teams just take advantage of that and pressure us into errors. What really concerns me is that all our younger players seem to have their confidence knocked. With the exception of Millar, Albie doesn’t look half the player he is, Maatsen also, and Smith just started to look like he was getting in the game, and was substituted.Thankfully we’re playing Tuesday, as a week of training doesn’t seem to achieve much.
I still say we have the squad good enough to win this league, but for whatever reason we are definitely underachieving. Which has cost us automatic, and is threatening a play off place, and on that performance, we need a rethink if we want to get anything this season.0 -
Wasn't Robbo sacked (or, like, left by mutual consent) after a draw against this lot?2

Have to admit the performance today was indefensible.I really don’t like Ben Watson and hope he never wears the shirt again.
We’ve been quite unlikely this season, today was definitely a change5 -
paulsturgess said:Think that was the worst we’ve played all seasonThe things is that every player pretty much was awful for 90 minutes. I would think Amos,s possession of the ball made up 90% of Charlton 48%. We rarely put two passes together, we found no space, yet allowed Fleetwood acres to roam into. It’s remarkable that we make any average side we play, look like they should be top 3. The blip in our season was winning a few games early on. We really do look like a side capable of going down.I’m lost as to how we change this. I go into every game with the hope, that this will be the game where it clicks. But, every game it seems to get worse.5

Terrible 2nd half! I can't stop myself watching the games, I wish I could. I am always very optimistic when it comes to Charlton, but I know deep down we are not good enough this season.7

What a load of shit! Positives for me were Stockley and having Famewo back. It's good to have a defender who has the nous to realise that you can defend by cutting the ball off from the man. I'm going to temper some of the praise Amos is getting by saying that his distribution was dreadful. All either high balls up in the air (or off the side of the pitch) or pathetically short passes drawing everyone back and inviting more pressure. Surely every amateur keeper in the land knows that when you're kicking into the wind you keep it low. Is he not strong enough to do this or has he never been told? It also pissed me off that we needed to score to win and he's crossing the pitch to take goal kicks from the opposite side. To be fair, in the context of the game it was probably the best thing to do, but for me it belied a lack of ambition which is frankly unacceptable.3

For anyone who enjoyed the Fleetwood goal music...

That was meant to be the ONE highlighlight of the day! Now watching Torquay vs Halifax... we are no better than them and definitely have less desire. Crazy meaningless season.0

That's the last tenner that I waste on this shower of shite. Amos constantly putting us under pressure by throwing the ball out. Shinnie one decent centre then at fault for their goal. Only one's who could come out with any credit in my opinion are Famewo and Stockley. Gunter loves throwing to Fleetwood players. Have seen some piss poor games this season but this must have been the worst! Terrible conditions for both teams.0

Sounds like I had a result skipping the game!
Disappointing to hear we sounded like strangers but not overly surprised. Doesn't seem to matter what formation or players play we are destined for mid table this season.0 -
How did Fleetwood get on in there last game before today?0

It doesn’t get any worse than that .. oh wait, we’re playing Burton on Tuesday. I’m amazed I didn’t fall asleep. At lease Ant and Dec’s Saturday night takeaway is back for a new series tonight0

Bowyer's post match interview given with all the enthusiasm of someone who's given up, or someone who knows he's about to be sacked5

The only game I can remember that was worse than this was Dagenham & Redbridge in the Cup.
I'm sure there were some pretty bad ones under some of the lunatics that the Belgian fostered upon us but I've managed to block those out for my own sanity.
Pretty grim when the highlight was the Captain Pugwash theme tune, despite meaning that they'd scored. I was almost looking forward to a second rendition just to put me out of my misery.7 -
The point at which my WIFI froze after the game says it all...58

our saviour Famewo did 90 but looked ropey.
Millar all puff.
Stockley scored and we only conceded one so there's that
That's iFollow for you!

Just a couple of seasons ago we would have had a wind swept 300 up there who wouldn’t have told us in any real detail until Sunday morning that it was shit, and thousands of us at home who would have seen the final score on our phones, BBC1 or Sky and thought ‘fair point’.

I looked at the stats before KO and Fleetwood were 8th on home form and there are not many goals scored at Highbury either end.
We were 2nd on away form, but probably 4th after others catch up their games in hand.
On paper 1-1 looked the most likely outcome and so it proved.
A good point away from home, although we rode our luck 2nd half.
Amos played a blinder. Gunter & Oshilaja were ok. Maatsen as usual was too easily beaten and Famewo looked solid and composed early on, looked a bit heavy and struggled a bit 2nd half (understandably).
Miller started off really good & faded 2nd half.
Shinnie assisted our goal and their goal and looked decent, until their goal.
I didn't even know he was out there for 30 mins of the 2nd half.
Pratley looked good and was winning the ball until carded and subbed.
Smith was ok.
Stockley played well, Schwartz hardly touched the ball once again.
Morgan & Washington hardly got a kick for 30 mins.
Watson was a bit more involved but is too slow and looks a liability to me.
Purrington was an improvement on Maatsen.
We have lost many games that we shouldn't have this season, so a very hard fought point against a 2nd half gale force wind is fair enough in my opinion.
Bowyer did his best to lose the game by making Amos roll the ball out to our marked players and we nearly gave them 3/4 goals, because of the sheer lunacy of the tactics.
I can understand not wanting your goalie kicking the ball into a gale force wind where you may lose possession just inside your own half, but surely it's better to lose the ball 40 yards out, than on the edge of your penalty box?
I was literally shouting at the TV for Bowyer to stop the ridiculous tactics but to no avail.
We scraped home with a point, but do deserve a bit of fortune for a change.7 -

Fleetwood were busy, adapted well to their familiar windy coastal conditions - but really, they had little more cutting edge than we had.

I remember being at reading away last season and thinking we always do better in the second half after Bowyers team talk. Now we tend to look worse after half time. Today we looked clueless.3
