  • The build to Roman/Lesnar was better than any of their previous matches -  but we don’t need to see it again.
  • I remember now why I don't like Cody, it's the voice, he has a slight lisp and a weird accent, and a jilted way of talking, it's really grating

Build up was brilliant. Match was very disappointing.
  • Not many surprises on the R.A.W (RAW After Wrestlemania) there's a few names that reportedly are healthy again and waiting for a chance to come back, and none of them showed up last night, like when will Elias ever make his return?!

The Rock is definitely the opponent they want for Reigns in WM 39 though, the promo talking about money and how Reigns is the last needle mover and the biggest draw in sports entertainment history is tailor made for The Rock to show up and run his mouth about how he's the most electrifying man in all of entertainment and Reigns is just a Sideshow Bob Bitch or some equally silly line.

Bron Breakker is The Next Big Thing though, in 10 years time he'll be main eventing Wrestlemania against Gable Steveson, without a doubt

Breakker will headline mania well before WM48
  • Obviously no one regrets not doing Hogan V Flair.  ;)

As expected 'mania wasn't amazing but not a disaster. I can't remember the main event last year and expect that to be the same with this one next year. I predicted McAfee V Theory to be decent but the post match stuff with Vince spoiled that!

Apparently Reigns got injured in the Kimura which could explain the lackluster finish. Not a fan of that type of match with kick outs of 4 finishers or so.

I like Cody, but can't see him being anything more than an upper midcarder in WWE. The entrance was something else, but it was in a stadium with 70k and not a weekly (eposonic!) show.

Glad the world titles are unified for the next couple of months at least. Should never have 2 world champions, likewise with the women.

I know, he'll headline it in about 3/4 years time, same as Steveson, I'm saying if WWE play it right, and keep them mostly apart whilst building both of them up, they'll have a match in 10 years time as big as Roman Vs Lesnar

This is the problem of developmental being on TV.   Brock main evented 12 months after his debut and the Rock about 18 but they were at OVW, or similar, for a while first.

Remember they have recently dropped the ball with Drew and Big E. Although in fairness they picked up the Roman ball big time.

  • Gable Steveson doesn’t look natural in a ‘sports entertainment’ environment each time he has appeared on screen. Maybe that will change though.

I liked Cody’s promo. At least they’re allowing him to talk the way he does and without heavy scripting. Certainly more watchable than most other WWE promos.

Saw an interview with Cody/BT Sports from the weekend where he talked about leaving AEW. Indeed it does sound like some sort of personal spat that he had with Tony Khan. Interestingly sounds like he has some beef with QT Marshall as well.
  • I reckon the Cody/Khan thing was a difference in what to do next. Most of their recent signings have been ex WWE guys, and maybe Cody didn't agree with that direction.

It will be interesting to see where they go, like Seth Rollins said in a recent interview, whilst what they're doing at AEW is different and interesting, they're not on WWE's level yet, they have some ways to go before they're selling 70k+ tickets in a football stadium 2 nights in a row

Unfortunately, to get to a point where they’re selling out 70,000 seater stadiums they’ll probably need to numb the product down for kids to enjoy - which in turn will lose the current audience. They could make more money, but they lose their identity as an ‘alternative’ long term.

Or they just need to somehow lure a few enormous names over on a Roman/Brock level.

To their credit though, they’ve done much better than many expected them to in just three years.
  • I’m a AEW fan & have been for a couple of years, getting pissed off with the constant blading that’s sneaking into it now, it’s literally every week.

Saw some of Mania, Becky v Belair was stunning & I was actually quite impressed with Logan Paul although they put him with a couple of safe vets in Mysterio & Miz

Logan Paul was a state champion in wrestling when younger, and like or absolutely abhor him and his dipshit brother, they always go into things 100% and you can bet he trained a lot to look so smooth in the ring
  • You're not meant to like them, they're heels!

The Paul brothers are annoyingly talented and people are jealous of them. Give me what they do over Happy Corbin mentioning Drew's mother.
  • Is the real?

  • That stunner though lmao.. loved this dissection of it from good ole' Jim Cornette - my fave quote; "it looked like a monkey fuckin' a football"

  • September was Extreme Rules last year, Clash of Champions the year before. Wonder if they'll do a Takeover as well as I'll be more interested in that.
  • Been waiting 30 years for this moment and it's in effing Wales! 🙄
  • Expect they opted for the stadium that had the retractable roof.

It’s long overdue, but I don’t feel tempted purely based on how inconsequential it will feel in ongoing storylines - just like the Saudi, Australian super shows.

Quite astonishing it’s taken them 30 years to do this. They literally set up an entire UK based brand/weekly show before getting round to doing a proper show.

  • Nobody:  what I really want to see is old Eric v Uncle Dave

    Tony: Hold my beer/whiteclaw/line
  • The Wheela Yuta/Jon Moxley match on Rampage was great.

Nice little story going on with Regal’s faction.

If that was Conrad and not Tony I would be very interested.

I would rather it on a q and a pod cast with cohost Brian Last....

Talking of Conrad (do you rent or own your own home) Thompson, does anyone have the add free gimmick?  I listened to a grilling Jr the other day and about 40% of it was adverts.  I wouldn't mind as much but I couldn't actually by anything that was advertised, even if I wanted to.

I'll probably watch Rampage tomorrow, I don't normally watch it, but I have just finished watching last week's Dynamite, for the second time.

I have been massively critical of it before and I actually found it unwatchable at times.  Even earlier this year I said it was an hour of very good and an hour of awful.

But that was 75% brilliant.  He finally either listening to, or give power to, people that know what they are doing.  More of that please Tony.
