Welcome Nigel and great news JJ  staying
  • Very happy with this outcome. Jacko will help Adkins get to know the team and Jacko will learn a lot from Adkins who has a lot of experience. Good outcome all round

Be the first to admit I didn’t fancy Adkins, but I’ve seen some interesting points in favour of him since.

With the likes of JJ and other people who know and love the club around him it could well be the recipe we need.

Up the addicks and hope this is the start of something!

I think after the last few months under Bowyer, Adkins will be a breath of fresh air down at Sparrows Lane. Considering where we are I’m happy with this appointment and ecstatic that JJ is staying on. Here’s to a bright future.

Got a Nigel as a manager and I'm feeling..............................boom, boom glad all over!!
  • WOW !

Late to this very significant party as usual ....but SO pleased to have finally arrived.

THIS is the news I was hoping for following a day of deliberation after Tues evening's match.

Thanks, Thomas, for what I believe is the best possible solution at this moment in time.

    Bless your cotton socks !!!

    Welcome Nige.

Bit of a coup this by Sandgaard I think.
Listened to.a recent interview with Adkins and he said he had been offered quite a few jobs both here and abroad. Said he wanted to be managing on the Prem again and thought his best chance of getting there quickly was to take over at a championship club and push them on quickly. He wouldn't have been short of championship offers.

Fantastic! Best possible outcome. Jackson will learn a lot, and we keep the Charlton connection in the coaching team, whilst appointed a solid manager for this level.

The twitter meltdown has begun. Some absolute divs on there who probably expected Pep to be bored at City and want a new challenge in League 1.

Adkins knows his way around and out of his division, is positive in personality and playing style and will bring through the youth. Coupled with Jacko as his assistant and I'm very happy with the appointment.

I think overall it's a sound appointment, the real key to if NA's a success will be the backing he receives.

Whether you feel Adkins is the right man (I don't) it's such a missed chance to give it to Jacko. Can see him managing at another club. Sincerely I hope I'm wrong on both counts btw.

    Welcome Nigel!

P.s it might be best you delete Twitter for a little while judging by some of the embarrassing fans on the clubs feed at the moment.

Very happy JJ remains as assistant, will be an important person to catch up Adkins quickly with what the team does and doesn’t do well.

I watched the Leyton Orient v Saints game the year Saints got promoted from Div1.  They had a lot of height in the side but still tried to get the ball down and play football not hoofball.  I think Slade might have been manager of Orient at the time.  They just wore Orient down and run out convincing winners 1-3.

I read an article when Adkins left Hull City that he and the board disagreed with the way forward.  As others have said Hull City results had been decent.  They sold their best players afterwards so I think its safe to say he ain't no yes man either.

I am more optimistic with Adkins coming and having JJ still there, someone that knows the current squads strengths and weakness.

Lets hope this works out successfully for us.  I will support him and give him a chance, he deserves that much and if it doesn't work out I'm sure the usual clamber will start when he isn't picking the team the experts on here would have.
