I have been critical of Clare, but as a back up player to bring energy on the pitch the signing makes sense.
He’s a very very poor man’s Jordan Cousins
I thought Cousins wasn't all that to be honest.  Over hyped.

Sometimes I think people on here just don’t like Charlton players.
What utter bollocks. That is my opinion of him and getting £1.5 million for him.was a couple.
If you disagree just say so. No need for nasty insinuating comments.
    A couple of what?
Opps. I did type coup.  Predictive txt decided I was wrong.
Try taking a couple of seconds to proof read what you've typed before posting. Not hard to do & saves people wondering what you are trying to say.
    Argee
I wonder why 4 peoe are on my ever unintended error but other grammar error  strewn pieces are never commented on. Misspellings,  poor punctuation, use of ' of 'instead of have, their instead of there, were instead of where etc.
    Another nonsense post.
Don't you feel embarrassed at your inability to string together a coherent sentence or are you unable to read/check what you post due to a disability? If we know you have a disability we can take that into consideration.

Although I don’t agree with many of his posts (no disrespect @addick1956) he has a point. Digging someone out on a internet forum over their spelling or punctuation is pathetic.

There is no need for it. Openly saying people should be embarrassed over their spelling/punctuation then mentioning disability?  - get over yourself.
Capital "g" on "Get over yourself" I think.

Least he’s admitted that we need more experienced players in. Can we get a move on with a left back??!!!
  • I'm just a bit gutted we can't compete with spending power of the mighty Wigan.

This is perhaps nice to read but little we didn't know beforehand. The risk of a Scunthorpe approach is that within a tight budget you need everything to click, and the early signs are that our midfield is very, very far from clicking. Twelve days; let's see it. If we put the entire remaining signings budget, including loans, into two central midfielders, a left-back and this Blackett-Taylor chap I'd be content

Subbing off Dobson had the air of someone who's seen quite enough thank you

"Roddy is technical director and oversees all footballing matters at the football club for the men, women and academy – as well as recruitment and the medical set-up. It was his desire for a pathway for coaches, as well as players, that saw Jason Euell promoted to first-team coach with Anthony Hayes taking charge of the U23s.

Players are identified by a combination of analysts, scouts and director of football Gallen."

An interesting part for me. It does seem that Roddy is not in fact responsible for actually identifying players at all, which was a common belief. If anything he is (supposed to be) a link between all the different footballing departments (as opposed to the commercial ones under Mumford) but whether or not he's doing that successfully I suppose is still questionable.

We must be a training knackers yard for every cast off .  What happened to proven players who would go onto better.

This is not the Brentford model. It is SE London version of Steptoe and Son. I am looking out for a player named Hercules signing for us.

    How strong is he?

Sounds like the budget is tighter than he had originally thought or been told it would be. Okay, we have to cut our cloth accordingly, rightly so. But we definitely are not at the top end of spenders in this league. Probably would sit outside the play-offs with budget I would assume.

Really hope we bring in a few players in the next few days. We can’t leave it all to loans at the end of the window.

For the wide forward type, why Sims has not been mentioned, I don’t know. Maybe he is one who has his demands a bit too high and needs to lower in order to get a contract. Would be a great signing and much better than someone who didn’t do it in League Two last season.

Interested to know who the other player that went to Wigan is that we missed out on. Amos is one, who is the second?

I think the budget would be flexed if we got promotion (don’t laugh) also.  Whereas Roland actually didn’t increase the budget for the championship.

More crap & lies then. Adkins quote on Tuesday was ..." he's player that I'm aware of...."

I would bloody hope so if he's been training with us. Or is Adkins blind or just hasn't encountered him on his daily walk around the training pitches.

See, this is what pisses me off. Just say it as it is.

"Yes, the kid has been training with us..."

If you can lie about something so obvious & that can easily be found out, what else are you lying about that can't be.

And yet still people are blaming it all on Roddy.  Steve Gallen is clearly still heavily involved in the process but people still question that.

it’s in black and white so perhaps we can let them get on with it now

It depends what you mean by budget.  If you mean total wage bill we are easily in the top 6.  If you mean what we had left of the budget to spend we could well have been around midtable.

I would wager our starting 11 against MK Dons earnt more a week than theirs despite the presents of Morgan and Inniss, who earn relatively little. That's before we bought on Watson and Kirk.

Which it is. We aren't pay the necessary wages to build the team needed.

    It appears so now.

I think the statement TS put out when he took over using words like “sustainable” and “long term” are accurate and very much part of the plan.  The bit we may of been sold under false pretences is the 5 year plan.  Because clearly premier league football is way off under this wage structure.

I think we could build a good team on low wages with the right management team around and of course good youth academy, but it’s not gonna be done in one season, we could be in this league for a while, albeit run like a proper football club again, a painful prospect short term, but it could be argued a necessary one.

I know being contrary is your shtick but this is a really hyperbolic reading. "Crap and lies" is just putting as overly a negative spin on things as you accuse Adkins of putting a positive one.

Yes, they are aware of him, they've bought him in and that's as far as it's gone. Gomes was here for a while but they avoided signing him, this could well be the same again.

I am sure NA has made a mental note to explain himself fully in future so Golfie can tell the difference between the truth and lies.

I wouldn't mind being a properly run football team in the Championship and could give a flying fk about being in the prem, give me mid table championship for the next 10 years and I'd bite your arm off.
Its just this poxy league watching with 8'000 fans and on average 500 away fans all season.

Reading through that piece from Rich with Nige, there seems to be "Too many chiefs and not enough Indians" as the saying goes, I mean all this discussing and analysing and things going on behind the scenes, who is actually making the final choice, because it seems that time is ticking while they all sit around talking..FFS get off your arse's and do something, because ....

My point is Adkins didnt tell the truth. When asked the question about a player he could & should have said..." yes, he is training with us so that we can take a look".

We knew about Gomes because he played in a couple of pre-season games. They couldn't hide that one.

I'm assuming Adkins is "aware" of Harry Kane. Is he training with us too  ?

All feels a tad flat doesn't it. It's a long season but I did worry with so many early conclusions from pre-season games as per usual.

How can you get worked up about a throw away comment in an interview about a player we have on trail, and may likely not even sign.
Because it seems that our new owner is skint ! our new Manager is a liar ! the whole pre season has been focused on getting Roddy a spot at RB at the behest of his Dad !

Agree that’s where I want to see us.  With maybe a chance of play offs (and relegation to keep it interesting).

But we are where we are.
