    Wrighty spot on.
    100%
  • Kane worried about his big move. At least Lyle was honest about his head not being in the right place.
  • That game was like watching every game against Millwall rolled into one, but without the sucker punch at the end.
  • Sounness and Keene bang on as well
  • Ian Wright knows. I get the feeling he isn’t a fan of the way we’re playing right now either.
  • Good point.
    Qualification assured.
    Job done.

This way we can possibly avoid finishing in the dreaded top spot.
Portugal drew all three group games in '16 and won the tournament.

There's more to come from England......
On that note I'm going to log of and chill. I can also here boogie boogie at Wembley...sad times.
Pretty angry with that performance it was shocking.
    But we will qualify
  • What did the pundits say? Turned it off post match.

painfully one paced for me, and needs a Henderson on the pitch to boss it around a bit

Ian Wright saying we are not good enough and should be building on the momentum of winning the first game. Souness saying if we continue to play like that football ain’t coming home
  • There's something very wrong with Kane. A pale shadow of his usual self.
  • After staying up all night to watch that shite I've now got Australians doing the Post Match review ffs. Off to bed, It's  5 am here but I won't sleep for a while cos I'm so pissed off with that performance.

He looks disinterested and that post match interview he wasn’t his usual positive self.

I think there are some underlying problems in terms of tactics here.
  • Scotland, if they had more quality up front, or took their chances, would have won both their games.
This tactic of Kane taken players out of position and us looking for balls over the top to Sterling or Foden is becoming too predictable. Need to vary it
Thought we lacked tempo and invention.
4 points is a strong position, but we if we lose to the Czechs we could find ourselves out

Two holding midfielders was not working but Southgate was to afraid to change it. My biggest worry about him is he is a bottler. Having said that, it was actually a decent result as if we win the group, there is no way we are beating France, Portugal or Germany. As it stands second would give us a last 16 game against Slovakia, Sweden or Poland. But unless the manager grows a pair, that is probably as far as we will go.

Grealish should have come on for Phillips and Rashford for Sterling (who was poor) and Calvert-Lewin on for Cane. I though James was a bit anonymous and I'd have Chilwell above Shaw every day of the week just for that extra bit of quality he has. Mount left his nine iron at home too which was frustrating!

All been waxing lyrical about the performance of the tournament. Keane drooling over England's incisive passing and the vision shown to set up so many gilt-edged chances. Souness has started speaking in tongues and Wright was incredulous at the dissatisfaction of the crowd after 92 minutes of pure entertainment. Puggatch was just reeling off a list of clichés - standard stuff really
  • I hated Southgate as a player and hate him even more as a manager.  Felt like a loss , everyone played shit   . Just embarrassing.  Scotland for fuck sake .
  • I'll take the point in the context of trying to get out of the group, but England will need to find a way to play a lot better than this. All too ponderous in attack. Changes to personnel and shape needed imo.

Am loving the footage of Scotland fans "enjoying" themselves in London. Hilarious stuff and good luck to them! Popped into spoons in Crawley earlier and there was a table of fellas getting pissed and playing that boogie song on their phones. Good natured stuff, but I'd be amazed if they make it to the game - the had 4 tickets apparently. They were well on their way if y'know what I mean haha! England should win this one comfortably, but I reckon we might get a scare along the way. 3-1
    I'll never get that.

Get pissed last night, have a couple of drinks before the game, get pissed afterwards etc, but why drink all day and risk missing the game?  Or not being able to remember it at all?
Changed my mind, wish I'd have got pissed and missed that.

Yep. "Football isn't coming home with that team playing like that."
  • One shot on target.

It’s so depressing not being able to be excited about such an exciting squad of players.

There’s a small percentage of me that wouldn’t mind seeing us get grouped if it meant 100% that Southgate was gone. He’s taken us as far as he can and we will be wasting our potential keeping him.
We're basically through already.  For all the good it'll do if we play like that.
  • Well, pretty poor performance but to be honest this was always going to be a lot tougher than people gave it credit for. A point in a charged match like this is fine, though they'll have to do better from here. Still, there won't be another game like this in the tournament. Just need a point against the Czechs now to progress, which is what we want to do.
Some of you need to either calm down or stop watching football altogether though. Bloody hell.
A point may be fine, playing like that certainly isn’t.
  • Imagine actually choosing a team that suits your squad of players.

Rather than shoehorning in average players to fit some weird conservative tactic you've dreamed up.

Surely it's better to play the 2nd team in Group F in the last 16 than the 1st team in Group F in the Quarter Finals?
  • In tournament terms, we were the winners. We just need a draw and Scotland need a win. The stupidity of having 24 teams makes these games more likely. Potentially, England could repeat the farce v Czech of East Germany v Austria (I think they were the two sides) who played a dead 0-0 draw so that they both qualified in the WC. It kinda makes sense - preserves players, avoids injuries.

If Stones had scored rather than hit the post, it would have been 3-0. If the ref had gone to VAR, we would have missed the penalty.

Good enough, I say, albeit dire to watch but I never had high expectations from this game.

I think you could give another manager the 15 players that didn’t start tonight and they’d batter that 11.

    That says a lot.
  • Neville wrong here. It's all the tactics and selection, how can he not see that?
