  • Rory feels completely let down by USPGA over the Liv situation and I completely agreed with him, they used him when they were fighting Liv, and then let the players back in who had their pockets lined, I would be pissed off as well.
But that isn't a recent thing is it? He didn't act this way before, during and after the Masters did he? The leaking of the driver issue seems to have been a catalyst for the tantrums, even more so because he's been forced to go back to his old one. He won't confirm that publicly because it will be seen to undermine the company that pays him shedloads to promote the new one and the media, like a dog with a bone, won't let that go. I still think that there is more to all of this but only McIlroy really knows.

Agreed, plus it's a USGA event rather than PGA Tour. I think he's in a weird, maybe low head-space after the highs of Augusta. Perhaps he's setting a precedent to try avoid some of the ridiculous attention he'll get around Portrush.

I'm not sure who but I think we'll have a playoff tonight. The US Open hasn't had one since '08.
  • Watching the Womens Amateur Championship. Very high quality golf being played.
  • Spaun not getting any luck, Scott looking decent, Burns still strong, Hatton almost made a terrific eagle and is 4 off the lead. Hovland making errors. Scheffler creeping up
  • That 50yds spin back after hitting the flag was brutal!
  • This will be a Monday finish
  • Everyone is getting beaten up right now. Burns double bogeyed and leads on level par
  • Desperate to stay up but can’t write off tomorrow. Will have to pick up in morning and hope I don’t see the result
  • That seemed a pretty harsh ruling for Burns' ball sitting in water.
  • Very harsh.

MacIntyre might just be favourite to win this now.

  • +1 might be enough to get the job done for MacIntyre.
  • What a way to win it J J Spaun.
  • Fabulous finish
  • He deserved it after the awful run of bad luck at the start of his round
  • That seemed a pretty harsh ruling for Burns' ball sitting in water.
I must be the only one who thinks the ruling was fair. There was no casual water around & no water at all coming up by his shoes as he stood to address the ball. Yes it was wet.....but it had been raining for 3 hours by then.
  • J J Spaun carries the air of someone that has been invited to a party but, once there, is overcome with imposter syndrome. It was thrilling to see that putt go in and the interaction as it did between Spaun and his caddie. Give me a J J Spaun any day of the week over a Tyrell Hatton who acts as if golf owes him victory and there's always something else to blame when things do go wrong.

Special mention to Robert McIntyre for his final round and for his gracious response to Spaun's final putt. He will win many more tournaments in a long and successful career with The Open this year being a real possibility given that he finished for a tie for 6th in 2019 at Royal Portrush.

I don't think Spaun would have got that done without being runner up at Sawgrass, that has his 'major' near-miss instead of a normal one. If there's been a longer putt holed to win a major then it was a long, long time ago.

I loved the old style US Open brutality. Next year is Shinnecock, which gets spicy but they'll probably look to have a few-under win.

I believe it was Shinnecock in 2016 that had ridiculous greens that couldnt hold the ball near the hole. Mickelson should have DQ'd himself for hitting a moving ball but took a 2 shot penalty iirc.
  • This competition sure does produce some finishes, what with Brysons bunker shot last year, and now a 65 foot putt.Good luck to JJ,havent really heard of him before last year, but he is now in the mix with the big names,so really hard now to predict who is going to win these events.
  • Everything crossed this is finally Tommys weekend.

It helps that Scheffler & Thomas are playing like a 12 handicappers and Rory takes 1 step forward & then 2 back.

So hope he doesn’t melt. Some of us he stuff Scheffler and Thomas played tonight was bonkers.
  • Fleetwood has taken over the mantle from "cant putt" Westwood. Good professional players but just dont have what's needed when the time comes.

1 bogey in 3 rounds and 3 in the 1st 4 holes today. Poopers squeaking. Scheffler on the charge. Yank fans annoying as ever with the U S A shit. Keegan Bradleys pre shot routine is really annoying me as well for some reason
  • After many years playing golf,  I now realise I know nothing about the rules,  RM spent some time improving the ground where he intended to drop the ball, definitely a penalty I would have thought,  but no,  he dropped the ball and played the shot no problem,  surely a clear case of improving stance and lie of the ball, obviously I'm well out dated.
  • Tommy doing his best to blow his lead
  • Proper bottle job
  • Take a bow Tommy, you absolutely bottled it today ffs
  • The only player in the top 10 over par today and to lose it to that twat Bradley😡
  • Top level melting. Absolutely gutted for him
