After a protracted period of negotiation Mino Raiola finally got the deal over the line and I joined from Netaddicks in Oct 2007.
The ratio of absolute, nasty idiots and wum's to lovely, genuine, people on this site is tiny. Sometimes I need to remember that not everyone is like [edited] and focus on the great people that make this forum the best around.
Pah - You need to spend less time on here and more time making sure the bins are empty for when we visit the beach mate…
Charlton Life has been a joy for the 14 years I have been on it. Apart from the hot news and a bit of inside info at times, it has been a constant source of debate and amusement. What I like best is that the vast majority of like-minded Charlton fans I know are also on it and, in spite of the occasional bust-up, we all remains on good terms and we have come together frequently to raise money for club-related things which we should all be very proud of. The Mods do a great job ensuring it doesn't descend into anarchy and any real arses are eventually sent packing. I have asked Danny why there is no 'donate' button so we can chip in a few quid every now and then to help with the running costs etc but he's never wanted to go there, which is again typical of how the site is run. If you ever look at other club's forums (or other Charlton ones for that matter), you will know how fortunate we are.
I joined in Jan 2007 after switching from Netaddicks. I’m a bit of an old fart and don’t do social media apart from this site but this is enough for me. Already knew a lot of people on here but have made some good friends since.

I knew from the moment I met you we were kindred, both with equally puerile, disgusting senses of humour and both have massive chods

I'm a newcomer here. I have been going to most away games for years and always travel on my own ( my friends think I'm loopy going g to watch Charlton lol ) most of the faces are recognisable to me now as away games unfortunately there are not that many of us lol. I'm really looking forward to trying to match people to my perceived vision of them once this season starts as in I will be thinking " I wonder if that's so and so from CL lol " For me in my short time 2 threads stand out. The takeover thread which I was literally glued to and my misses actually thought I was having a breakdown whilst reading live the Southall ejection and Nimers meltdown ! The other one is the recent moving home thread, to witness the assistance that fans will give to another fan is truly humbling
@AndyG i was convinced you were a non-fan when you joined and assumed you were someone who had crossed paths/ been wronged by Southall.
We had a number of northern based posters join over a few months all wanting to post disparaging comments about either Southall or Farrell / Nimer. Won’t say where you are based but you also fitted that profile particularly as you seemed obsessed with Southall and I could trace no Charlton / SE London link to you.

Many Apologies if I got you wrong.
No problem at all. I was born and brought up in Charlton although moved away 35 years ago now. I joined CL as I wanted to see if there was anything I could do to assist in fighting Southall etc. I had the misfortune of meeting him in the car park at Preston as he was parking his infamous RR next to me as we both arrived together. In hindsight he and the 2 wronguns with him were obviously crooks. Wish I had ran the twat over now lol Anyway I'm honestly not a northern aly of the said crooks and have been a lifelong fan unfortunately lol
Thanks to all who run and contribute to this great site. I joined a couple of years after I moved away from SE3 and it's been a brilliant way to still feel part of the Charlton community from afar. Much appreciated!
Joined from netaddicks aug 2006 also, met some proper decent Charlton through this site and slept with prob 70/80% of the birds on here hats off to @AFKABartramand@LoOkOuT long may it reign
I joined in October 2006. I starting blogging in 2004, and there was a birth of online Charlton content with @InspectorSands and Wyn Grant leading the way. Many came and went, but we were missing a proper place to gather, and I always ignored the other forums back then. Charlton Life filled the void perfectly and has continued to do so.
Being a fan abroad in the mid-2000’s was way harder than it is now, and CL gave me insight, humour and a togetherness that I really missed. Still do, although the Charlton world is much smaller now thanks in many ways to CL.
I spend way to much time on here, although I’m too busy to get embroiled in the off-piste arguments and baiting, but I do love the irrelevant threads and I’m ever amazed by the intelligence, knowledge and compassion that other members offer.
Danny and Adam I have both had the pleasure to spend a little time with. Gents - absolutely incredible job. Same to the mods too. Here’s to the next 15 years.

Oh sweet lover! You helped me through my transition... mwwwwahh!
PWOR About time it got toilet trained and stopped pissing itself the second anything happens/doesn’t happen precisely to some half cocked fanciful fairy tale notion 💦💦💦

This did make me laugh... you need to get back posting more!

Now we wonder if the 20% told him to f off or they are still waiting
The takeover thread is obviously the one that most remember. But I also appreciate the TV and film threads on here, I've watched a lot that I wouldn't have bothered with. Appreciate all of it. Just would like people to be less judgmental in general.

I blame @AFKA and @LoOkOuT for Charlton now being in the Third Division.

Gave me one of the best ever Charlton days when I got to play for a winning team at The Valley.
Took a sabbatical for a while after I started a Pardew out thread when we got hammered at home v Colchester. Was I right or was I wrong?
Love all the good this forum has done regarding shirt sponsorship, the Upbeats, standing up to Duchatelet and many other worthy causes.
Sincere thanks to AFKA, Lookie and all the mods - well, most of them 😉
Cheers Charltonlife
