    Jackson?
    Euell?
Would love JJ to have a go. I thought we should of gone that way in first place

Also not a fan of Stockley as captain. He doesn't come across as a leader, and you can see him moaning at players. Seemed an odd choice at the time, and the more I see him with the armband, the more my view is reinforced.
    Totally agree with this.
  • Also, we have continued our 100% defeat record against Cheltenham. FFS Charlton, we have enough bogey sides from the established league teams without getting new one from a non-league standard wannabe rugby team.
  • As Charlton fans we get used to ups and downs but that was very poor today.
  • 2nd goal...Famewo couldn't be bothered to come out and go tight on their forward. The forward, received the ball under no pressure, turned and played to the winger. Famewo going tight wouldve forced the forward to play back or lose the ball. Very poor.

Why sign Dobson and Clare if you believe in as a manager that Morgan and Watson are the answer. Dobson should have been on for one of the two at halftime.

Worst first half I have seen from a Charlton side in many years in the flesh. Second half papered over some large cracks.
To be fair, I dont think he has signed any of these players.
Interesting. I thought he was part of a four man recruitment team with him, Roddy, Gallen and Sandgaard who decide on players coming in
From what Gallen told us this week, Adkins is on the receiving end of who the rest of them recruit.
This is exactly how I think it comes over n all
  • NA has made Stockley his talisman, captain, all our play dedicated to his style (i.e just long balls), think it might be his downfall, a) makes us too inflexible b) Stockley isn't good enough to have that much responsibility

I’ve seen some shite in my time at the valley but that first half was one of the worse I’ve seen.

Also, why was people (a large amount) clapping Cheltenham players off the pitch at full time… embarrassing!
I didn’t clap them at the end but I stood and clapped their second goal. I’m not blinkered enough to not recognise when the opposition has scored a good goal.
  • I think if Adkins doesn’t get a win at Wycombe or Gillingham he’ll be on borrowed time.
I opened up VoTV this morning and you're editorial said, 'All signals were at red when we got to Crewe.

Now those red lights are flashing accompanied by a loud claxton!

Just walked in!! Another very long day, but met an old buddy of mine for the first time in 52 years @Redrobo, we were with @TCE, @DaveStorry, @foresthillred and little TJ, his mum and Keith from Radio Sheppy a great bunch of people!
Then we come to game... first half we were shit, second half we weren't quite so shit!
I'm annoyed that the game ruined an otherwise great day!!
I'm still that bloody fuming about the game I'll post my thoughts tomorrow!!

    Good night!
  • What was the attendance today please? Haven't seen it posted anywhere. Was loud at times today.
  • Every game we get over run in midfield.Has to change the system. The 2 wide players are just not in the game either defensively or offensively.
We’ve been getting over run in midfield week in week out for about 10 years.

  • I love Jackson as much as most, but why would we entrust him with the side when he can't even organise our set pieces?
  • Beginning to wish we'd taken the option of T20 Finals Day next Saturday instead of the cheaper trip to Wycombe.

But, where there's life, there's hope as they say.

I bravely decided to take one for the team by "glowing" in the unexpected autumn sun wearing the yellow sweater that had witnessed the 6-1 victory in the Pizza Cup recently....

....but I hadn't factored in the "this IS Charlton ! " element. DOH !

So, another one bites the dust !

Little to add as per usual & have to agree with the majority of posters that this was yet another very disappointing performance.

Yes, Stockley works his socks off but long, high balls to him are NOT the answer. And if the gaffer fails to recognise this after today, then Specsavers is due an urgent visit.

We now have a plethora of forward looking players who can make pinpoint passes on the floor & take on their opponents but why is NA not asking them to play to their strengths?

Indeed, I recognise that the tardiness in recruitment plus the dreaded international break may have hindered him in defining the best starting eleven this afternoon but if a further 4 or 5 days at SL  doesn't clarify this, then, sadly, I foresee sickeningly wide smiles on the faces of Ainsworth & Evans by the time that Portsmouth arrive in SE7.

Nigel - You now have the necessary "tools" ( no offence meant !) at your disposal.....hopefully not too many to confuse the issue.

Now's the time to be bold, gung ho even ; throw off those shackles that served you well at Southampton ; use the formation that's tried & tested throughout the Leagues ; empower those whose skills show they can make things happen on the pitch and finally, show our lads that you have every confidence in their ability to turn this current situation around.

The backing & encouragement from the faithful is a given- there for all to hear this afternoon.

Now, the ball is in your court.

    Onwards & upwards.
  • Has anyone else noticed how many times
we miss the goal during shooting practice in the warm up.
  • Should have kept Pratley...he gave his all.
    Adkins is pointless
Losing to Cheltenham...Premier League Ambitions....bollox....manager is a wet fish

I agree with this.  We don’t know if Jackson would be any better than Adkins, I think it’s more of a romantic charm given his stellar playing career with us.

Also, if Adkins is sticking with this formation, then get DJ and Kirk out and Leko and Blackett Taylor in.  I don’t think he can carry on with his 4-3-3, but if he does, Leko is a step up on both and neither have done enough to justify a first team spot so why not give Blackett Taylor a go.  He might be hungrier given he’s only on a 6 month deal
Sorry are you saying this about 4-2-3-1 which we played today or 4-3-3?

Just listened to Adkins post match thoughts.  He’s said the right thing, didn’t try to dress it up, but he has to act on it.  The only thing I worry about is saying ‘regardless of their (Cheltenham) formation we have to do better’.  For me, he should’ve seen we were getting overrun.  He said our wide players were too wide and that’s why Morgan and Watson got overrun, but then that’s a reflection on the formation as a whole, surely?
Yup we were all saying after 10 minutes what was happening and why didn't we drop to 4 in midfield. Really really poor game management, school boy stuff.

If we were playing 4-2-3-1 no one told Kirk.
