  • It took me less than five minutes to find out Cheltenham were going to line up 352. Adkins and his staff had ten days to prepare and to find an answer to that. It was clear almost immeditiately that they didn't. Cheltenham could have had five goals today and without even playing great, if it wasn't for MacG. We only had one shot on target and 1.5 clear cut chance. Second half wasn't much better although we tried harder, but still no idea or tactic behind our attacking play. Wonder what mr. Positivity makes of this one. I just feel sad about it really.
  • Maybe we got rid of the wrong one out of Bowyer and Gallen.

Has there been a single signing that has paid off? MacGillivray is the only one I could point to that looks a good player.

We are now ten points behind target.
    TEN.
That means winning all games at home and five away whilst drawing the rest.
Not going to happen. I think the choice now is either a relegation battle or mid table obscurity.
  • Terrible. First half was embarrassing. It looked like a team versus 11 players thrown together. The defence looked shaky, midfield chasing shadows and strikers were lost,

Leko and Washington were improvements. Overall, very poor and the positivity from the end of the transfer window is over.

On that showing it’s Cheltenham who will be in the premier league in five years , we made them look that good in the first half .

Morgan and Watson didn’t turn up until the second half and by then it was too late .

We can’t afford to be having players like Kirk and DJ and Stockley all to have bad days at the office because we’ll lose more often than now .

I don’t believe Nigel has lost the dressing room that’s reactionary nonsense but he has to sort someone out soon or we will writing this season off already .

Stockley isn't good enough to play as a lone striker. I'll be amazed if he makes double figures this season, with that system. He had an absolute stinker today.

First off Cheltenham as a squad all know exactly how to defend a lead, they walked league 2 last season defending leads

Cheltenham players all knew their jobs and worked their bollocks off, I mentioned Alfie May in one of the who would you sign threads and he was class today. So credit to Cheltenham they wanted it more and outworked us which upsets me, they showed for each other and fought for everything including it would seem, space and time.

    Anyway us

Gunter at fault for both goals, I hate scapegoating players but this happens too often him daydreaming.

Watson gave a masterclass on giving the ball away or playing hospital balls with the occasional good quick challenge or interception. Elliot Lee was class when he was involved and I think Albie played OK

Connor Washington is such a plus, works his arse off and has such a strong footballing brain, Leko less so the brain but he is a menace and caused chaos when he came on and was good for the goal.

Referee was usual league 1 standard of shite, bought every bit of gamesmanship and inexplicably failed to book Flinders for time-wasting which gave him free reign to do it all the second half.

The midfield did not work, outnumbered and outfought and at any level of football you mustn't get outnumbered in midfield

We still have idea how to defend the ball in our box and McGilvery kept us in the game, even if he doesn't control his box at all.

Hard run of games now, need a solid performance and a clean sheet as much as we need to win games but we have to sort of the defence and midfield

  • Four points from six games is just not good enough. Unless something changes we're going to finish with about 31 points from 46 games.

Always second to the ball to f**kin Cheltenham? **

Don't know what Watson's role is in a defensive situation, and I don't think he does either. Both goals, he's not marking anyone, he's just taking up a position in no man's land, seemingly hoping the ball comes to him sos he can clear it, I think.....

**Would say no disrespect, but they wound me up with the time wasting so f**k em
  • As I said on the match thread - for all the talk of fast, attacking football, I'm beginning to lose faith that NA knows how to set up a team to deliver it.  Instead we get pedestrian, toothless football; not surprising given some names in the starting line up.

    Bollocks to that.  It's embarrassing.

I don't tend to post a huge amount but feel inclined to post after that performance, however you pretty much captured my views completely.

He clearly needs more time however I've felt for a while now that our football has been completely one dimensional and quite frankly, a little boring. Clearly when you're winning nobody really cares how you play but when you start losing then there's bound to be more of a focus on the style of play and I really can't get on board with how NA sets us up. It's not just the fact we don't play an attacking style of play, its the fact we don't even try to play a decent brand.

This is absolutely no disrespect to other teams, let's face facts we are a league one club as it stands, but we are set up like a newly promoted team just coming into the league hoping to snatch a result here and there.

Today's first half was so bad if I didn't know better I'd have thought we were being managed by Tony Pulis. Except if we were at least we'd be defending better.

    Oh well onwards and upwards.

  • NA right now is defo not the answer…set us up all wrong surely…🤔,what a contrast to the Crewe game…mind we didn’t look to convincing on that one either, just a little better…

Yet Nigel talks such a good outlook. Surely worth keeping...........? Talk the talk, and you can blag a career post Thatcher.

Washington and Leko need to start next week and give Stockley rest. Like eveyone else had said the problem is when try long balls up a target man all afternoon then you in doing give your opponents a lot of the ball
  • At least we're keeping up with Ipswich...
  • To be clear their centre forward Alfie May ran us ragged (Famewo is very poor, anyone disputing this ain't watching) and he  played for Vickers in Crayford and for Erith and Belvedere.  This is a Low (as Blur said).

Currently in xbars seething at that shite....always try to get home in a reasonable time., seeing it takes me 2 hours to do it and try to savour some of Saturday night with her indoors,  but she is after all these years sympathetic to my plight.

That was awful so many first and second balls lost no craft no speed and the defending for both goals appaling. We could have been 4 down at half time.

Was contemplating gillingham and wycombe away, but no way Jose after that.

  • This isn't going to be popular but I think Dj is a dud.

Yes, he will have the occasional good game and score the occasional good goal but he puts in too many awful performances like today where he simply doesn't get involved and his shooting and crossing is hopeless.

Mind you, Kirk was even worse today. Surely he can't be that bad?

Adkins got the tactics completely wrong, one shot on target and 43% of the ball.

We simply play in a way that creates dead ends. Both full backs look awful, the midfield looks just wrong. Can't play with two wingers again especially when both have an off day and won't track back.

    Just crap

442 please. Currently we just aren't performing.

    Leko.
    Because we knew him before.

Gallen given free reign this summer hasn't found a single gem.

We just lump it up to him as our one and only tactic

Does not look as if we can play DJ and Kirk in the same 11.
Would go with Arter Morgan Lee and Washington/DJ/Kirk in midfield, with Leko and Stockley up front.
    And I miss Pratley.
  • Today was not great, we need to give things time.  Adkins hopefully will replicate his earlier successes.
  • I’ve been saying it for too long now. Adkins isn’t the man.
