Fourth round weekend (5 Feb) we are schedule to play AFC Wimbledon at home. If we beat Norwich (or more likely Wimbledon beat Boreham Wood/St Albans) then that fixture will be postponed.

It could end up being a free weekend if the Dons progress and we do not. Or it could be the date for the rearranged fixture away at Crewe.

Happy with that. I live in Norwich and always hope we draw them away so I can walk to a Charlton game for a change instead of driving over 100 miles! Generally do ok against the yellows
Let me guess, John. Ketts Hill?
  • Millwall v Palace will be the TV game for the potential upset, and then maybe Kidderminster v Reading, and the other two are United v Villa and West Ham v Leeds

It's 6 TV games, 1 on Friday, 2 on Saturday and Sunday, 1 on Monday. 3 each between the BBC and ITV
  • Add Hull v Everton and Forest v Arsenal then

Great draw, nice to have a Premier League side who’s attention is elsewhere at the Valley.

as for being on the Telly, nah, can’t see it
Move the sofa, maybe ? 😀

I can remember an old Div 1 match vs Norwich at Selhurst in the late 80’s which we lost , maybe 1-0. It was dark days for Charlton, a home crowd of well under 10k, probably not much more than 5k, maybe bottom of the league and they were singing  ‘What’s it like to have no ground’!!!ffs. No great respect therefore for Norwich fans.
I wrote to Lennie Lawrence after this match ( no email then!) and told home to keep fighting, no matter what. He sent me a brief note of reply expressing ‘Tks’.
The story had a happy ending - we miraculously avoided relegation - and Lennie remains a Charlton legend. The story of the ascent from the ruins of Selhurst back the Valley and the journey since is one of the great football stories and hopefully will see us restored again to the pinnacle of English football over the next few years.🤞
So let’s win this match and put those Norwich fans back in their box.
    Just checked my facts 🤔
Maybe we did get relegated that year (if it was 1989/90) but the taunting of the Norwich fans was not appreciated.
This is not the time to get mad, however - just get even!
  • Must have missed Forest Green being in League 1 last season. Love seeing people getting their facts correct.
Really hate the coverage on ITV these days .

It is even worse that they are repeating the Big Match and you see the legend that was Brian Moore who was at least the equal of any football commentator .
  • What is the chance of a ticket offer on this game, it would make sense.

People calling this winnable need their heads tested.
Why? If they were to rest a few, I can't imagine they'll be massively motivated for the game.
Personally think their 2nd string would still tear us apart. Our best CB isn't even on the brink of their bench.

Hopefully I'm proved wrong and we can get a decent draw in the 4th round!
A team 61 places below us got close to a result against us on Friday. I doubt very much Norwich are looking for a cup run. The big prize is staying in the Prem.
  • Honestly, that is a very very winnable tie. Expect Norwich to play a load of reserves as they will be fully focused on trying to stay up.

Get a big crowd in and that could be one of the "upsets" of the round.
We won't get a big crowd for that unless we give tickets away and that is not very likely.... Ah wait

We can’t make them too cheap or free as the FA rules wouldn’t allow it . I’d hope they will be £10 Adults a £5 Kids if Norwich agree to that .

  • Don’t think we can do an offer as gate receipts are split aren’t they?
  • No chance it'll be on tv.

    Definites:
    Man U v Villa
    Swindon v Man City
    West ham v Leeds

    Possibles:
    Forest v Arsenal
    Millwall v Palace
    Kidderminster v Reading
    Yeovil v Bournemouth
Chelsea V Chesterfield will surely be on?

If it was at Chesterfield then yes but i don't think watching Chelsea reserves win about 6-0 has much appeal to viewers

Not saying it'll be a sell out but off the back of a few "Fill the Valley" matches and Premier League opposition... I could see a total nearing 20,000?

Might give this game a miss as a hear the Palace ultras will be in the area.
  • Just back from a weekend on the IOW with a couple of Narwich fans, one called it on the ferry back yesterday. Another chance to catch up with them again. PL team at home, winnable game too. Can’t see the point drawing Man City and getting spanked. Leave that to the semi final at Wembley.
  • Don’t think we can do an offer as gate receipts are split aren’t they?
Minimum admission is £10. I personally think it will stand a higher price, although not our regular matchday prices. Norwich are a club the police would probably agree could share the AC stand, if the demand was there.

The FA control the number of comps issued. Essentially if Charlton want to issue more they have to pay into the pool and the opposition their share of each ticket, which is unlikely.
  • Don’t think we can do an offer as gate receipts are split aren’t they?
Yeah would have to be agreed with Norwich. Don't think this will sell out, 20k max
  • Don’t think we can do an offer as gate receipts are split aren’t they?
Think both clubs have to agree ticket prices and the FA won’t let it be too low but I’m sure Norwich will play ball as their prices are amongst the cheapest in the PL.

They changed the rules so the home side decide.

Norwich fans seem quite happy they have us.
They're some of the nicest fans in the Football League - They'd find a positive out of anything
I’ve always found them to be the complete opposite whenever we’ve played them. Very arrogant and always trying to tell everyone why their club is better than anyone else.
    Really ??

I have never experienced anything with Norwich fans other than positive - similar to Sunderland fans - decent, happy to chat football etc

Yes - all clubs have their knob head supporters, and Norwich will be no different - but on a % basis, they are way down the list compared to a list of clubs I am sure we could produce a lengthy list of…..
Then all I can say is your experiences have been different from mine!
