  • Are tickets on sale yet?
  • My god how times have changed.

We draw a Premier League club at home and plenty of posters already hoping Norwich rest their first team and play reserves so it increases our chances of winning.

What happened to the days when we were buzzing that we would get the chance to see top division stars playing at The Valley and our lesser known players and manager pitting their wits against them.

Thank god I am old enough to remember going to Liverpool, Man United and Blackburn in the FA Cup to witness full strength first team sides going up against each other.

If Norwich had any top division stars, I'd agree with you, but they're Norwich so they don't.

So let's hope they send their crocks and kids and we give 'em a right doing over.

I guess I'll have to watch WHU/LU on my 'phone - I can't deny myself such excitement.

Smith's not gonna risk any of his available league regulars.  Not that he's got any chance of avoiding relegation.  Mixed blessing, the fringe players might just put on a show as they'll be in the shop window for once and won't be wanting to get relegated.

Our manager will need to stick to his first choice XI, Norwich could be there for the taking and a cup run would be good for us all, bugger the later fixture congestion.
  • Are tickets on sale yet?
    No
  • FA Cup third and fourth-round replays have been scrapped this season to help with the fixture backlog caused by Covid-19 postponements.

  • Sensible decision
  • The PL typically prioritising their games over the FA Cup, where money spinning replays can be crucial to smaller clubs

Having said that I doubt Jacko would want a 3rd round replay
  • No bad thing for us. A replay wouldn’t be of much use. One shot at a big upset with potential for ET/pens makes it more appealing for fans too IMO

The money from a replay would come in handy as I am sure there would be more at Carrow Road than at The Valley

Hope Chesterfield beat Chelsea on penalties now and the latter dont win a single trophy.
The Premier League & The EFL should be telling Chelsea that if they are bothered about the number of Covid cases they have & therefore not having enough players to fulfil a fixture then they should try recalling some of the 50 players that they have loaned out around the world in 2 weeks time.
    Starting with Conor Gallagher.
Which I think will actually happen 😀

Chelsea cant if the other thread is true

Seems that lot have a clause in the deal which says that Chelsea can only recall if he's played less than 50% of their games - I think he's played in all of them

Just spoken  pretty confident we had the same clause with Chelsea when Conor was on loan with us but still got recalled back.!

Pretty sure Chelsea had a recall clause for January when he was with us.

Chelsea could bend that a bit and say we meant all Palace games ever not just this season.

They would certainly have had one covering loan fees not being paid.
  • Not all stands open. I know there is a good chance no one will be allowed in, but surely with people having Covid concerns you open up all stands for this, alongside the process that have been set
  • Effectively the club are suggesting that they feel the attendance will likely be smaller than what we would get at a normal League One game.

This is why some people, like myself, aren’t completely bowled over about the idea of facing Norwich. The fact they are in the Premier League currently doesn’t necessarily mean it comes with the typical attraction of facing a PL side. They’re basically “Championship plus”.
  • I would have closed the AC and Upper West personally, but understand why a decision has been made to not open the whole ground immediately.

Anyone who thought this would be a sell out was kidding themselves.

Right prices, wrong decision on the Covered End. If the club disclosed the figures you would see why - tiny saving, split with Norwich - and it will put people off because again it is a statement that fans shouldn’t bother with the game. On this logic, why not close it for league matches? Bigger saving to Charlton (i.e. cost not split) and we have the spare seats.

Obviously I support opening the AC stand, not least because when it is only the lower west and the CU lower, 85% of fans go in the west. Would be ridiculous to force those people into the west upper by shutting the other side.
  • I'm surprised they're not opening the Upper CE. You wonder if CE regulars will hold off buying tickets, expecting/hoping that the Upper CE will be open

Perhaps they could start a waiting list …

Realistically, the seats are unlikely to be needed numerically but it’s the most popular area of the ground so closing it makes no sense, especially when it shares safety staffing with the lower.

It’s quite possible fans won’t be allowed in at all, but if they are it seems reckless regarding Covid not to give people room to space out anyway. That ought to be a bigger current priority to the club than this small cost.
  • i can see why they have done it, to try and bunch everybody up nearer the pitch but closing the upper CE, i'd agree, is a mistake and may well deter some from going / kill the atmosphere - close the upper west and half the east stand towards the away end would have been better
