I don’t think the crowd will warrant having all stands open but I never see the point in closing the most popular area and the one that generates any atmosphere. If anything it will deter some from attending (if we can that is)
Do you think sub-7,000 for Accrington and 8,000 for Rotherham warranted opening all stands then? On that basis we should shut the west upper permanently in L1 as we never need it (not even for Plymouth).
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I think we should close the upper West for league games as well. Makes for a better atmosphere when people aren't spaced out

A lot of the Covered End regulars are pretty spaced out at matches
Glad Covered End Upper will be open even though I'll be in the East - as we've all seen recently a great atmosphere makes for a much better match day experience. Holding off getting my tickets for a few days to see what the wankers in Downing Street are going to do next.

Why not do what Meire did and give the seats to the away fans. More away fans better atmosphere.

I don’t think it would achieve much. It has to be staffed for the media, it is cheap to open because you only need to staff the entrances not pitchside and you would, inevitably, lose season ticket holders who have established seats there.
We had this nonsense from Meire and Keohane closing blocks “to improve the atmosphere” but since few sat there anyway they could not make a difference elsewhere and the closed blocks then had to be stewarded to keep people out.
Before the club decided on what stands to open/close surely season ticket holders should have been given priority in line with previous seasons and as part of the commitment the club made when selling season tickets. As my season ticket seat has been sold already my protest will be to not go at all, they do not appear to have any justification to act the way they have and even the person I spoke to in the ticket office stated that they had received plenty of complaints about this already and will pass them on to senior management who made the decision.
We really do have some 'weird' fans! I find it very strange that with everything that is currently going on in the world that you have decided to protest by not going because your seat has been sold.
The reason I will not be attending is primarily because it has always been the norm for the club to offer season ticket holders a period where their seat is reserved for a period of time, for this match though they have changed the policy with no notice given to season ticket holders. Not sure on what basis this gives you the right to suggest that this makes me "weird". I happen to have occupied the same seat with a season ticket since the West Stand was built and during this time I have become friends with many of the fans seated around me. I have been a season ticket holder for many years previous to this and have followed CAFC for over 50 years which some people may see as "weird". With regard to everything that is currently going on in the world, I cannot control any of this but unlike some I take these things seriously but as stated above my reason for protest is simply that the club has chosen to arbitrarily change a policy without any warning.

I too have followed Charlton for over 50 yrs and never would think about protesting and not going to a game because I could not sit in my seat This game will NOT sellout and will give you plenty of opportunity to sit with your friends So do the right thing - support the team and sit with your friends in a near seat without the need to make such a song and dance about something so trivial Merry Christmas to you
If anything I would’ve thought the sensible option would’ve been to keep the East/AC closed or kept back for potential fan overflow (home and away) and keep the West & CE available for home fans.
It’s the best look for the TV cameras, people who would usually sit in the East/AC can get their sideline view from the West (upper or lower) and the Covered End is kept open to help with atmosphere generation.
Any issues with handling it this way that I’m not thinking of?

West Stand snobbery. What about season ticket holders in other stands?
Will the game go ahead, just praying footie doesn’t get shut down again, surely not….
Should do, going to turn up at 1 in a shellsuit and full kit so if they're short can step in. Can run sideways slowly and place a pass and lump it up to Stockley, so if Gunter and Watson don't fancy it am willing to step up to the shit waste of space role.
I've just had the 'pleasure' of accompanying my Norwich City supporting husband to Carrow Road to watch them against Arsenal .......... just wanted to check what the date of the fourth round draw is for us!
I think it could be successfully promoted seeing as there is no stream, the game has to be decided on the day, and in all honesty it is likely to be a close match that is winnable for us. Against it is uncertainty with Covid and I don't think making it clear the club is going to bunch everybody together will appeal to all.

You do know that JJ is our new manager and that it is safe to watch us play football again?

Can't grumble at that !

Booked my ticket in West Lower Row BB so it's not much different from being upstairs in row C.
