Experience like Stockley and Lee and Shinnie who you then have a chance of bringing in on perms are good try before you buy options potentially.6

It doesn’t tell us whether they’ll be 27 like Elliot Lee or 32 like Harry Arter.
After the way older signings like this Watson and Arter have worked out I’ll be surprised if we bring in other similar players. It can work at CB but it’s clear those ahead of them need to be quicker, fitter and more energetic.0 -
Not going up, not going down. Use this upcoming transfer window with next season now on mind. The crap start in the first 13 games was always a mountain too high to conquer.
Only bring in loans if they are to be turned into a permanent deal during the summer. Otherwise it’s a waste of a wage.

Don’t like this not going down stance that people have. Two years ago people where saying “we aren’t going down because we have Jonny Williams in our team”.With only 1 good forward (who currently has a niggle) Charlton can go down.0

Shinnie would have been great competition with Lee for that role in the team this season. Imagine his worth in the squad than Kirk/Morgan.

JJ clearly doesn't rate Davison based on that interview.4

Bringing this over from the Post Match thread:
Clem_Snide said:Shithoused by the biggest set of shithousers I have seen in a long time. Fuck watching that nonsense every week.We were ok imo and never really threatened (the goal aside obviously). We looked rusty and the two week break hasn't done us any favours. The glaring deficiency in the squad is a lack of options up front. Davison is nowhere near good enough to be starting games in league one. We need someone to replace Stockley when he isn't there. Have heard rumours that we are looking at some ex Wycombe bloke who moved to Middlesbrough in the close season - can't remember his name.I'd also like Jackson to show us his Plan B. At some point 3-5-2 just isn't going to work, what will we do differently when that happens?Play offs are gone. I hope we don't burn money on pointless loans, would rather save the money for the summer or look to invest with next seaso. In mind.
Uche Ikpeazu fits this description. 26 year old, has played 20 times in the league for Boro this season (11 starts), only scored twice. Scored 6 in 31 for Wycombe in the Championship last year. He's bounced around a lot. Never really been prolific. Has largely played at higher levels the last 3-4 years though (Championship and Hearts in Scotland). If we were a side where goals came from everywhere, I'd be a lot more intrigued. But I think our regular midfield has like three goals between them, and then Purrington's four or whatever it is. Point being, we rely on our forward for goals and I'm not sure Ikpeazu provides that. 6'3", decent athlete, but probably won't score many. But hey, it's January and everyone wants a forward so pickings will be slim for a side sitting in mid-table in League One. Especially for a forward likely to be third in the pecking order. So perhaps I'm being too greedy.0 -

They've just brought in (or about to bring in) Connolly from Brighton and Ikpeazu is the odd one out.Stats can be deceiving and I would be very happy with him coming in, if he's interested in us. Our pal Nixon seems to think he's on Millwall's list of targets so may not even need to consider League One interest.

Seems to have lost even this now and looks out of place in this league. A pity.0 -

They've been winning games without McGeady (he's been injured for a month) so when he returns that might just be enough to give them automatic.1 -

I think we need to look at getting a head start on next season, not overly keen on wasting time with loans unless they're of a decent age and with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
Signing players like Arter, Gunter or Watson who've already been at the top level and have zero motivation to do anything in league one other than collect a wage are not for me. I'd rather we focused on players who want to progress with us.12 -

Pages and pages on who we are going to sign.
Personally I think we also need to hope that a cheeky little bid doesn't come in for Gilbey, Stockley and Washington and that they are still with us at the end of the window.
If I was a Championship manager of a team who needs reinforcements Id be running my eye over those 3, particularly Gilbey.2 - Sponsored links:

Let’s look at this sensibly. In all of Jackson’s games in charge, we have missed Washington or Stockley in 6 of them.
That’s quite a lot in a small number of games.
Out of those 6, we have picked up 7 points. A win at Burton where Washington was on international duty and Stockley got sent off. A win at home to Plymouth. A draw at Morecambe and losing to Shrewsbury, Plymouth, and now Wycombe.
In those games we have scored 5 goals. 2 from Washington, 2 from Purrington, and 1 from Jaiyesimi.
It is glaringly obvious where our weakness is even under the great form and results we have had under Jackson. We simply do not have anyone else to come in when Washington and/or Stockley are out of the team.
We desperately need a striker of the same or better quality of those two because without it, we simply do not look like scoring or picking up results. And this counts for next season too.
Sign up Washington and look to get in another couple of strikers in of good quality before August.
Let Davison go and allow Burstow to grow, it was only 12 months ago he was starting to break in and do well for the U18s. Let him develop more and he can be 5th choice next season or out on loan.30 -

You could say exactly the same for Famewo. We aren't the same team without Purrington. I don't want to think what would happen if Dobson, Lee or Gilbey aren't available let alone two of them.
Pearce was only missed as much because Inniss AND Lavelle were both out as well. I make that 7 players we have no real viable replacement for. It will be a miracle if you can get more than 5 on the pitch every game especially playing Saturday Tuesday Saturday for most of the rest of the season.0 -
Josh Parker has unfinished business.12

The irony is that Parker or even Bogle would have performed much better if they played the first 45 minutes up from yesterday. The last laugh is not with us.2

Let’s be honest. We have a mid table league one squad. For that to change we need yet another major overhaul. Chop at least eight to ten out of what we currently have and replace with significantly better. Not easy but unless we want yet another season of league one disappointment that’s exactly what we have to do. Still early in TS window dealings but we’ve got an awful lot of work to do.3

We'll be having a major overhaul anyway, as it stands, 14 players are leaving us in the summer. Blessing in disguise maybe, but we'll have to sign better starters AND better quality back ups.
With one squad space spare we won't be doing much to start that process now.

Might as well go the whole hog and get Bogle & Ronnie back as well!0

we need at a minimum .. 1 central defender, 1 right wing back, 1 extra striker .. try to send Davison, Morgan and Kirk out on loan and (somehow) offload, Watson and Matthews1
