Peanuts.. Early days and all that but what is your gut feeling about the possibility of Noble Yeats chance of winning again next year or even going on to equal the record?
Tricky one and everything depends on weight.
Of course, the way he travelled and jumped and the strength of his finish was really impressive. Sam WC did get a whip suspension (as a digression, in my book that should always prompt a disqualification but he has himself been the victim of whip abuse when Jason Maguire and Ballabriggs held off Oscar Time in 2011) but it doesn’t deny the quality on display.
That said, my gut feeling is "no" he won't win again next year if the handicapper's reaction is consistent. If so, I think he'll be clobbered when his mark is updated tomorrow and it will likely do for him, even on his upgraded CV.
According to the RP, he notched a career-high RPR160 yesterday (+11lbs) and that seems fair relative to Any Second Now, whose 2nd (20L clear of 3rd) the RP also rated a career-high RPR170 (+3lbs on his 2021 3rd). That might get revised but it looks fair enough to me, since he's clearly progressed this term (Bobbyjo win in Feb was impressive too).
I don't expect the handicapper to treat Noble Yeats any more leniently than they have other recent GN winners who've finished strongly and, if Minella Times' OR this term is anything to go by, even a modest campaign next season (bear in mind, Noble Yeats comes from a Curley-esque, gambling stables!) won't elicit any mercy.
I think he'll get at least +10lbs to OR157+ on Tuesday and if that's his assigned GNOR next Feb, there would have to be a record topweight this century of 168 (Galvin's current mark) for him to carry <11.00. As his CV and stats now stand, burdened with 1 hard test-fail without Wild Risk on his damside, 11.00+ will mean he'll likely fail at least 3 (target is 0~2), even with only +4lbs on his back.
Obviously he might chalk up another CV-enhancing run next term that established a better stat-score, but it would likely prompt a still-higher mark. But you can never say never. We'll see.
For me that was the most enjoyable Grand Nationals since I was a kid. It used to be a bit of a tradition like in many houses my dad showing me the paper and us both picking horses mostly just on liking the name and my dad sticking a few quid on each way. I even won a couple of pounds using this system. My dad has long since passed on and a guess with him some of the nostalgic charm of the race for me.
@PeanutsMolloy I have enjoyed immensely reading your posts over that last few weeks since the thread caught my notice. I love the way that you have developed such a well honed model and are so free to share not only the predictions from it and the methodology. I have found your posts both fascinating and enlightening. After following your predictions and taking advantage of @bobmunro’s attractive each way offer I not only thoroughly enjoyed watching the race yesterday but also came away with a 20% profit in a race that everyone refers to as a lottery. Fantastic work and thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks @PeanutsMolloy as always. We had Delta Works, Fiddler and Dylan thanks to you and, as always, your comprehensive analysis is compulsive reading and greatly enhances the enjoyment of the build up to the big race.
Agreed. Used to go racing a lot in the 80s, and the GN thread is definitely rekindling my interest. 👍 Used to go to Sandown, Kempton, Newbury, and Windsor evening meetings, and read the Sporting Life and Sporting Chronical.
always quite sad the gn as end of jumps season for me - punchestown I always find extremely hard to bet on and the sandown finale due to lack of talent in Britain never lives up to its hype
Is it just me, i don't feel i have been credited for the eachway part of the bet? I could be wrong but i haven't noticed it hit my account. Is there anyway to check without speaking to customer service/ chat?

Me too. I've sent 3 email messages via the Bet365 website and no reply. Hoping they will resolve it before I have to waste more of my time attempting to pursue it. Problem is how to pursue it if the email complaint doesn't even elicit a reply. The Live-Chat function is utterly useless at even acknowledging such an issue (just tells me the offer's finished - I know that!) and I'm buggered if I can see a phone option to raise the issue. Very grateful if you could kindly kick some arse @bobmunro

Well hopefully if its not just us, they must be looking into it. I often find ringing them up is best to sort things but also have shit phone signal at home, so hopefully we can get some form of an update or that will be the next course of action.

When you say the "each way part of the bet" I assume you mean the place part of the winning bet and not the refund of half of the stake as the latter is automatically done when you placed the bet i.e. for a £5 EW bet they only take £5 although once you reached the maximum £250 there is no notification that you have done so and the £10 would be taken at that point with no subsequent refund.

Personally i dont remember it being credited, i could be mistaken but i am sure i would have noticed.
I only put 3 * £10 bets (£5ew on each), so the limit will not apply, also one got a return so only expecting £10 back, but still feel like either i have made an error, or it hasn't been credited.
Just trying to find out the easiest way to find out if i am honest.

Mine came in instantly and I immediately lost it on Australian horse racing. Who do I complain to about that?

Australians? to be fair I am not complaining, just put on here to see if anyone else has not been credited. I am now in two minds if it's my mistake (didn't see?) or not.
Probably the only way i can find out is to call them.
@johnnybev1987 The refund should have been instant (was for me) so perhaps you just didn't notice it. Also the offer expired at midday on the Saturday so any bets placed after that would have been placed without the offer. What time did you get on?

Thank you for your response Bertie, i did place pre midday on the day. I bet them a few days before as soon as the promotion was released, it's very possible my mistake if i am honest. But i will still get them to clarify, normally i would have expected to notice it instantly crediting. Also it did say if it loses, so surely that part means it might settle after?
either way only small ball, just if i am due a £10 i can put on something else lol

I just looked at my balance after placing each bet to make sure that they only took half the stake. Probably the only way to check is to look at your deposits and then settled bets and work it back from there.
My understanding of it was it wasn't conditional on the result of the bet, it was effectively an instant refund on half the stake of the bet. Like anything app/IT based errors can occur so worth you checking with them like you say. Good luck getting an answer

I complied with all the terms, placed in the time window. Placed x1 £75 each way (total debited to my balance £150) and x1 £50 each way (total debited £100). The terms said it might take a few hours to credit refund (max £125 due) but was not immediately refunded and have not been since. 3 email messages pointing this out and not even an acknowledgement of any of my messages. I've been a big fan of Bet365 but this isn't on tbh. What's particularly galling is that both were losing bets and I certainly only placed the £75 e/w wager because of the offer.

Clearly didn’t work mate as when I did mine it only changed my balance by half the stake in one action. Hope you get sorted

I'll see what I can find out. I know there was a major systems issue on Saturday (as reported on here) that is still having a lag effect and on Customer Service responses (there were tens of thousands of emails). I can assure you the refund element will be credited.
Can I ask if anyone is still waiting for bets to be settled?

That does sound strange. The other issue with Bet365 is that they have closed (be it temporary or otherwise) their phone service - I just tried 0800 028 8365 - so live chat would seem to be the only option although as you say this doesn't seem to be satisfactory either. Are you on twitter because they are responding to queries raised on there?

The phone service has been suspended for a long time as a result of so many contact centre staff working remotely during the pandemic - telephony systems are laced with security requirements and impossible (at the moment) to replicate remotely.

Cheers @bobmunro My winning bets were settled by Sunday (the first time I'd looked) but the £125 refund had not been and still has not been credited. Even now, my history shows the full stakes debited on the first day of the Offer and my updated cash balance reconciles only to the winning returns on Delta and Fiddler - no £125 refund at any stage. Thanks for your reassurance - obviously happy to have come away nicely ahead (refund or not) and my experience of the Bet365 product down the years has been exemplary but fair's fair.

Cheers @Addick Addict I'm sure there was a phone number given in the days running up to the race - maybe the post race crash made its removal a necessity. But it makes it all the more important to respond in a reasonable timeframe to an email, even if its only an acknowledgement. Frankly the failure to make communications' channels effective over a number of days seriously lets down the brand. I will try Twitter however - thanks for the heads up.
EDIT - thanks for the update re the phone @bobmunro (I thought I'd seen a phone number prior to the race - I'd thought about chasing the refund then but figured it might just take a while for wheels to turn. I was obviously mistaken about a phone number being displayed). I'm sure you'll appreciate the point about ensuring there's an effective alternative. For 3 emails to be met with silence is not on, in my view and I imagine not in yours either.
I have rediscovered (not that I would ever go down any gambling online rabbit hole anyway), that one manner for settling bets is to visit the betting shop at your convenience and a cheery member of staff pays you in cash. Almost Medieval.
The way the B365 offer works there is no refund is there? You place the £5 e/w bet and instead of £10, only £5 is knocked off your balance - that's how it has worked for me each year anyway. Also worth noting that the offer ended (am pretty sure) at midday on Saturday so if you placed your bets after that, there's no refund!

We'll see.

a) someone who's put on about £50k in various bet combos and is only showing off the one slip they "won" with; or
b) someone who likes a bit of cut and paste on their slip after the event.

Can I ask if anyone is still waiting for bets to be settled?
My winning bets were settled by Sunday (the first time I'd looked) but the £125 refund had not been and still has not been credited.
I'm sure there was a phone number given in the days running up to the race - maybe the post race crash made its removal a necessity.
Almost Medieval.
Also worth noting that the offer ended (am pretty sure) at midday on Saturday so if you placed your bets after that, there's no refund!
