There was only ever going to be a brief moment of quality in a match like this, hosted in the swirling winds of the north west, but to which side the opportunity would fall was the question. Shrewsbury started the brighter, but were unable to make hay. After twenty minutes the Addicks came into their own, taking possession and advancing their passing play. We won opportunities in key places, from open play and set pieces, but there was no breaking through a resolute, deep defending Shrewsbury Town.
From set pieces we looked vulnerable at times, but for ninety percent of the match we were in control. And it was from a corner that Shrewsbury scored the winner in the final minutes. Cosgrove went straight through the back of Dobson, as clear a foul as you’ll ever see, and the ball fell the right way for the Shrewsbury man to put the ball past MacG who was unable to palm it around the post.
It was not a pretty spectacle, with Shrewsbury dragging us into the mud with them. They were lucky that their patience paid off and, with a bit of poor refereeing, they were able to see us off and take all the points.
Jacko’s run had to come to an end at some point. It’s gutting that it has in the manner it has, but perhaps the sting will provide extra impetus in upcoming matches. Jacko has proved thus far that he and the team have what it takes to learn from each match and I expect this will be an important lesson.

Two crap results in a row - bit of a reality check.13

@ct_addick Under Jacko?
Edit: and we didn’t “give up late goals like this” today: there was a blatant foul not given.5 -
JJ new manager bounce now over.
Personally I think he's still the right man for the job and I expect a big response against Ipswich.
But we were pony today.6 -
Thought we played well considering the conditions and the players missing.Famewo and Dobson in particular were excellent.Don’t rate Souare, and thought we missed Purringtons desire to get forward.Referees have cost us 4 points this week.25

This 3-5-2 works well against top teams because the wing backs are able to defend but then work very well on the counter. Against teams like Morecambe and Shrewsbury it doesn’t work at all because both games they were sat too deep and limited us to speculative crosses only. Never mind the poor quality crosses, without Stockley we don’t have any aerial threat at all.
Really disappointed by today’s result and performance and leaves me feeling quite negative about the rest of the season just as things were looking up.

JFH should get a reaction in the cup next week……5

Jacko's billy big bollocks routine in the dressing room after the Plymouth game has backfired massively 😐17

Shite again. On to the next one.0

There are games like this every season (yes even promotion ones) in this god awful league where you wonder why you bother watching.
Horrible weather resulting in horrible football from both sides and it’s decided by a terrible referee decision. One of those days.
Couple of weeks until the next league game. Let’s hope we’re refreshed and ready to go.14 -
Think we did ok tbh. Playing square pegs in round holes all over the pitch and for 1.5 of this 3 game spell we were at maximum points. Get Jayden and Pearce back, Soure out for Ben P and Leko to start - and batter Ipswich in front of a full house. And give Jacko the job, stop dicking around.6

Shit league shit referees shit grounds but we are going to be stuck in it for a few more years2

The most blatant foul you could wish to see.
Quite astonishing incompetence or, if not, just bias on the part of the referee.
As I said on Tuesday, we are jinxed by injuries and shit refs.2 -
Browny said 30 seconds before, they don't deserve to win the game, we need to hold strong and clear our lines, and we didn't.

Two shit performances this week. Tuesday's draw was only an ok result with a win today. Top 6? No chance on that showing1

If we struggle to create and score goals against a poor side because we have a single attacking player out, it points to poor recruitment.
Davison isn't good enough to be the back-up striker.4 -
Ever since Martin Sangaard has been on board, it’s turned to custard. Sack him Tommy. He’s just a shit Tommy Driessen.8

Unfortunately in this league you get results like that. It does mean that the "play off" dream is simply that a dream. Season is a write off.0

So…A six game unbeaten run comes to an end.
In that time a points yield of 14/21. Two points per game.
No Innis. No Lavelle. No Stockley. No Matthews. No Leko.A rejuvenated Dobson. Clare found to be a very decent option at right centre back.
Seven points from 9 against teams in the top 5.
11 goals for and 4 against.
I think we all would have taken that seven games ago?
I think we all know enough about JJ that this performance and result will hurt bad and I totally back him to come back from it. A decent length of time between now and our next league game.
This is football, folks. Especially third tier football with third tier level players.Annoying but we are in a much better place in a short space of time and there is a hell of a lot to play for.46 -

Jacko looks so pissed off in his post match interview, trying to be up beat but he looks like he just wants to get out of Shrewsbury at top speed before he bad mouths that prick of a ref after that blatant foul, neither team deserved to win really but that result is a kick in the bollox..4

I wonder if the people begging Sandgaard to hire Jackson permanently and saying that we shouldn't wait are the same people now saying the honeymoon's over and wetting themselves because we're not winning every game anymore. I feel for Jackson in that we're in a real injury crisis but it isn't talked about anywhere near as much as it was under Bowyer. Missing 4 key defenders and turning up with a left back and a centre mid in the back three, and as a result costing ourselves one of our best attacking threats at LWB, it's no wonder we're a bit disjointed. We've got an issue up front in that Davison would ideally be 4th choice striker, but we only really have three. Leko was thrown in but is obviously coming back from injury and without Stockley we're seeing how much we need to get another striker in in January. It's a shame how little calm there is on this board whenever we have a setback. We've struggled with injuries, tiredness as a result of that and some horrible refereeing decisions, and we've still seen a massive improvement under Jackson. Conceding that late hurts, but Jesus, some of you need to get it together. You don't get to play well and win every match, and if you need that then following a crap third division team isn't for you.64
