Well that's put a cat among the pigeons. I tweeted #announcejacko fair play to guitar man Thomas for holding his nerve. Gutted nevertheless really crap game in the end. The sort of game that makes you really hate this league.
It is about building a management and squad for a promotion push next season. Defeats will come in the interim. Long way to go yet to get to the right quality. Still short of central defender, quality creative midfielder and two strikers I think.
Hate to say it... But is the foul on Dobson overly different to Pearce's challenge on Flanagan @ Wembley?
Was Dobson just a beaten man and has made it look worse than it actually looks in an attempt to win a Free-Kick out of a moment where the opponent has just been stronger
As JJ has just said we have 14 points in 7 games, that normally gets you promoted, if we lose just 1 in 7 games going forward that's what he would take, we lost a game, we are understrength, we are not invincible it happens. We can now take a break from the league and have a couple of cup games, lets see, as Curbs has just said can we get 14 points from the next 7 league games, if so we are really on the up!

I dunno, it’s one game. We were below par (on current form), but sandgaard stuck with Adkins when we were absolutely dire. If his has some kind of knee jerk reaction after 1 disappointing result, then he is in the wrong game.
I wonder if the people begging Sandgaard to hire Jackson permanently and saying that we shouldn't wait are the same people now saying the honeymoon's over and wetting themselves because we're not winning every game anymore. I feel for Jackson in that we're in a real injury crisis but it isn't talked about anywhere near as much as it was under Bowyer. Missing 4 key defenders and turning up with a left back and a centre mid in the back three, and as a result costing ourselves one of our best attacking threats at LWB, it's no wonder we're a bit disjointed. We've got an issue up front in that Davison would ideally be 4th choice striker, but we only really have three. Leko was thrown in but is obviously coming back from injury and without Stockley we're seeing how much we need to get another striker in in January.
It's a shame how little calm there is on this board whenever we have a setback. We've struggled with injuries, tiredness as a result of that and some horrible refereeing decisions, and we've still seen a massive improvement under Jackson. Conceding that late hurts, but Jesus, some of you need to get it together. You don't get to play well and win every match, and if you need that then following a crap third division team isn't for you.
The voice of reason. Bang on. No more needs to be said.
Commendable management, making the best of what you have got. Thin squad. Given what we've got, recent run is probably as good as it gets. Let us not forget that many "great" managers are bank-rolled to success. Wonder how Sir Alec Ferguson may have got on at (no disrespect to) Halifax on their budget ? Having quality cover in duplicate is a managerial dream to which few can aspire. Like Lawrenson, Curbishley....... making the best of what is there, as in any profession, is the sign of good management.

Under Adkins we looked woeful. When in possession it was truly a matter of what calamity was coming next. It was embarrassing at times: most of the times.
We’ve lost today in a scrappy, poor match under harsh conditions. We’ve had a poor refereeing decision cost us.
Under Jacko we’ve looked confident in and out of possession, solid in defence, and dangerous in attack. We’re not going to revert to the Adkins era. I don’t see this good run having ended, at least not down to anything we have or haven’t done: We was robbed and, if anything, I think the boys will be aggrieved and come back even harder.
Just starting to feel my feet again. Thought we looked tired again at times and Shrewsbury sat back and we couldn't unlocked them. Pape spare I don't want to see again. Didn't see the dobson incident but now seen it back, how has the referee missed that, then again he missed alot. I'm not sure what Davison offers. This was a game for Stockley.
Unfortunately in this league you get results like that. It does mean that the "play off" dream is simply that a dream. Season is a write off.
Yeah, in Bowyer's promotion year, remember Rochdale away? We dropped to 13th.
Didn't stop us being promoted though.
Totally but do we honestly believe we have even a fraction of the team we did that season? I hope we can do it, but 9 defeats in 20 games might be a step too far.
Interesting that we never used the 3rd sub today. That shows what Jacko thinks of Kirk as an attacking option at the moment.
Nope, I believe that perhaps you've got it the wrong way round? ...... more like,Jacko would have had to take Souare off to bring Kirk on - and didn't want to risk leaving our left side defensively exposed.
I don’t like that the refs just pick up their match fee and walk away no questions asked. He should be asked about the incident at the end….watch it and comment.
If Adkins had been in charge today with that performance he would be getting shit abuse … today was poor we never looked up for the game .. lots of ball but done very little with it … wing back changes were questionable and affected us .. This is why you don’t give the job to a manager till you see how he reacts to a poor performance.. Ipswich at home is now JJ job application …. let’s see if the players are really behind him . Big plus will be Stockley and Pearce available we badly missed them this week with these two results would have been diff
Very tough day at the office. Was always going to be 1 goal which separated the clubs. Squad doesn’t have enough quality to sustain a promotion push. Had a draw chances but not enough to deserve all three points.
To the referees amongst us, what happens to the officials in a case like this? How exactly would a situation like this reflect on the referee as part of the routine performance review. And what role does Charlton’s take on the official’s perforce play, assuming the club has a role?
I’m not suggesting it’s crime of the century, because if we had done what we’re capable of doing we would have been free and clear before the incident, but just interested in the process of assessment of officials.
Didn’t get a chance to watch. Sounds a bit of a meh game. Pretty much no team is ever going to go unbeaten for to long in this league, so I’m not feeling to despondent by the result.
Its how we react to this now over the next 4 - 6 games that’s important. It’s difficult to take out the emotion, but as we shouldn’t have been having meltdowns about JJ not being made permanent after the Plymouth win, we shouldn’t be having meltdowns about the last 2 results either.

Who is this Lawrenson you speak of?
Sorry, I am an old man that can remember "real" football, even though I have trouble remembering names. The mist is certainly rolling in for me! Congratulations on your swift observation, and scathing wit.
Any chance of a summary for those of us who don't have the stream?
It was nothing. Just a throwaway comment from Jackson about Stockley getting back fit and ready to play after Minto quipped that Stockley was a decent 'pundit'.

It's 1 loss in 7 ...... and some people already throwing the towel in.

EDIT: We lost just 10 games that season...
