Good gutsy performance. We are much stronger when Innis plays. The whole team got stuck in, especially Dobbo. The usual weaknesses with DJ's crossing and Lee's set plays. Leko unlucky when he missed an open goal. I thought he played quite well. Burstow did okay. Toughen him up in the gym. Trouble is, this was us playing at our best and we lost! Fingers crossed against Crewe on Wednesday.

Norwich are a very poor PL side, but in reality with a bit of confidence they're a very good Championship side, to give today some perspective.

We tried hard, but without Stockley and Washington looked very light up front, not helped by the lack of goals in midfield. Therefore set pieces become even more important as a means of nicking a goal against better opposition, and ours were atrocious.
They weren't today, lets be real. They were on par with any League One side we've played this season.
  • Another thing, we're not the brightest team are we? One last chance to stick it in the box with 10 seconds of the first half left, but we dick about going short and the ref blows up. Unbelievable. The most Charlton Athletic thing i will ever see.
DJ eventually got the cross in (as the whistle blew) but unfortunately he aimed it at a Norwich fan half way inside the Jimmy Seed stand.

The ref blew before DJ hit the cross, which he smacked into the crowd probably in frustration

Pukki is way above L1 level

Winnable game lost because of our attacking composure.

Norwich would not look out of place in League One and we would have beaten them with a better striker.
    Give it a rest ffs
He hasn't said anything wrong there. That game was there for the taking, and our inability to score is why we lost.
He never says anything else. That’s the point.
Because it literally happens every game?
    EVERY game huh!!
    Plymouth 1-0 Charlton

    Charlton 0-1 Wycombe

    Charlton 0-1 Norwich

    Are you seeing a pattern?
It does take long before the moronic negative

    Norwich we’re lucky today,
if we knew how to finish or had a decent proper striker we would have won 3-1 today including the woodwork we hit.
the referee was a total Arsehole also 👍👍👍

I have great faith in JJ as long as our owner puts his hand in his pocket 👍👍👍

We aspire to be a championship side, they'll be a championship side next year, so it shouldn't have been a big difference between us and it wasn't. I thought we had the better chances but failed to convert them, they got lucky.

Concentrate on the Papa Johns now.

    This is exactly my point.
  • Burstow is almost ready just physically weak. I like him

err, yeah that was most likely why...

Can bet your life that Norwich get one of the big 6
    Or Palace Away 😢
Then I’d be glad we’d been knocked out, because that would be a nightmare.

    A decent Norwich side.

Am surprised that Idah isnt getting a run out for Norwich.

Kinda glad he isnt as well
Sargent has fallen behind him in the pecking order it seems.
Well thats a kick in the privates
You deserve Corporal punishment for that!

When did we hit the woodwork?

Thought we did DJ a disservice by taking him off, unfortunately today you could see Burstow and Leko haven't played as strikers together, they just didn't link up at all really, and like many have said if Washington or Stockley were involved today I think we would have won.

Hanley wouldn't have enjoyed it against Jayden at all, the bullying prick
You'd better hope that Mrs Stockley doesn't hear you say that sort of thing about her son...

Played well, out muscled Norwich and caused them problems without ever really looking like scoring. We need to be very careful with Burstow, he was blowing out of his arse after 55mins, he needs to be managed or we risk him going backwards.

The turning point was Gunter going into the back 3, we looked composed and in control up to that point. His presence just seems to create chaos, he is hopeless. Innis was great today, especially after he picked up an early booking. Sean Clare just gets better and better, I want him to stay in the side regardless of who gets fit.

Would have been interesting to have had Washington and Stockley in the side. Suspect we would have nicked it.

Norwich were an embrassment. Premier League? Do me a favour. They paid 8m for that Carthorse Sargeant who played up front! I will not be surprised if they don't get another point this season. Pukki was about the only player who showed any quality.

They had a £5m midfield player and our midfield was better. Sadly our two main strikers were out and we simply are too short there. We need to bring somebody in quickly as this is costing us points as well as today. Needed a bit of quality up front and of course a bit of luck which wasn't forthcoming.

Was that just before the Lee miss? I thought Krul had saved the header, didn't realise it was crossbar

How long before our coaches, managers and of course the welsh selectors realise this fact.

    Yes.

I think because of the Lee/CBT miss we ignore that Purrington should have done a lot better with that free header a few yards out from goal.
  • A pretty good warm up for the coming run of league games, all of which are winnable and should see us start to narrow the gap for the play off places. Disappointed only with CBT who didn’t seem to have got the memo today - he’s far better than that and needs to start making sure people know it. Some superb performances today otherwise against PL players, even if they are crap PL players atm, and the charlton players can take that away and put that in their lockers

Ah man, so frustrating. That was a game that was there to be won and we really should have. Just not good enough in the final third and our quality from wide areas and corners was just not at the required level.

A very gallant effort none the less, just couldn’t turn play and pressure into a goal. A keep saying every game ‘we wouldn’t have lost that with Stockley playing’ and I’m starting to wonder if I’m over-championing him.

    Dobson was outstanding I thought

We are not far off being a very decent side but we need two, maybe three players.

We already are a decent side, just not clinical enough in the final third

no disgrace losing to what is a Prem outfit, albeit a struggling one .. the pity is, we had enough chances to win this and blew it

Story of the last few weeks.  We need to sort our set pieces out and acquire a striker or two .  Will be a challenge.
