While it's certainly not the best news, the fact you've been having regular scans should hopefully mean that it's been caught early enough that it's fairly straightforward to remove. 6cm is what, about the size of your thumb? Fingers crossed the consultant will be able to put your mind at rest a bit, and that you'll be able to get it sorted pretty soon.
Beds, I'm so sorry to hear this news. You and your family must be in turmoil. All I can say is good luck, it sounds as though it has been caught early and will be dealt with quickly.
I've followed this thread closely and huge respect to Beds and others for sharing their news and updates, I'm sure it's helped. Got news yesterday that my brother has Bowel Cancer and is due chemo from next week. He's already dealt with non hodgkins lymphoma twice. Can I say fuck on this site?

@Hertsseasider, you can, as long as you're not directing it at another poster (otherwise @blackpool72 would have been banned long ago for his "just sell the club and fuck off" mantra ), and in this case I think it'd be entirely justified. I hope your brother's chemo isn't too rough on him, and that it gives him the best chance possible.

I saw the specialist yesterday and the latest is that i need an operation to remove a kidney and part of my colon where the tumour is. Good news is that it hasn't spread anywhere else as far as they can see and the operation is 3-4 hours with a week to ten day stay in hospital . Nothing like as intrusive as when i had my Pancreas and Spleen removed a year ago. I'm lucky that i have private health care through my wife's work and my op is likely to be in the next two weeks The surgeon said there is such a backlog for cancer surgery on the NHS ( he does private and NHS) the earliest i would have got the op is June and by then it would probably be too late.
Good luck Beds with the op. You say that you are "lucky" in being seen so quickly but no one is lucky to go through what you have to go through. It is indeed though, as you intimate, a sad reflection that so many other people's lives are being put at greater risk because the NHS does not have the resource. Really hope that you are back to full health and get given the "all clear" soon enough.
I missed your update @Bedsaddick on account of being carpaccioed by the NHS myself at that point. Very sorry about your setback, and wish you all the best in overcoming this latest hurdle. The bastard disease won't be as determined to get you as you, and the rest of us on your behalf, are determined not to be got. All best wishes and tons of strength.

I have my operation on Wednesday morning at The Lister Hospital in Chelsea . My Anxiety is through the roof at the moment.
