I’m still in hospital. Seven weeks and counting . I have a kink in my lower intestine after the operation which is stopping me being able to eat . I’m hoping to go home with a feed drip soon and the kink will naturally sort itself out . I’m going absolutely stir crazy stuck in hospital this long.

Sorry to hear that @Bedsaddick - I've definitely had the stir crazy thing, and that was only after 1 week, let alone 7! Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll be able to go home soon, and proper food (even if in very small quantities to begin with) will follow in short order. I hope that apart from that the operation has done what you needed it to.

Good to hear from you Beds, hopefully you will be home soon in your own surroundings and on the road to a full recovery.
Just a quick update. All tests now complete, 2 bloods and 3 stools. All have been sent for analysis, I'm just waiting, with trepidation, for the results. On a separate note I have my annual cardiology check this coming Tuesday (23rd), I'm at least hoping that goes well! I'll give further updates as and when I have them. Thanks also for your very kind comments. Cheers Malc
Having a slightly difficult time here. 2 weeks ago Gail, the Lass, was admitted to hospital, on discharge she was informed that she has lymphoma or terminal cancer. We got back to hospital next Wednesday for the results of all the tests, it is our 45th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks. Gail is in remission from another cancer and a few years ago she suffered a brain aneurysm - we have survived these and we will survive this as well.

my sincere best wishes mate. Keep fighting Gail.....you will survive I'm sure. Thoughts and prayers with you all x
So sorry to hear that, lancashire lad. Gail sounds like a strong girl, and with your support I'm sure she can overcome this latest bad news. You're both in my thoughts, and best of luck to you.
Hi a quick update. Firstly my cardiology appt today has been cancelled as my consultant has phoned in sick! Secondly, test results are back and it's looking as though I may have Ulcerated colitis or crohns disease. I will have further tests in next 10 days, colonoscopy and/or MRI to confirm. Weight loss is 2 stones, but hopefully once the problem is identified I can start to get better and put some, not all, weight back on. I'm hopeful that I can dismiss cancer completely, but will remain cautious for now, however Dr's do seem to be pointing to UC as the issue. I'll keep you updated, and once again thanks for your kind and thoughtful comments. Cheers Malc
Good news Redmidland. I've had ulcerative colitis for nearly 20 years. Personally, I put it down to stress as does anyone I've spoken to, who has it. The experts always said there was no proven link, which I've always found strange.
My advice is to find out what aggravates it and stop doing it, if possible. I switched to part time work as I'm certain it was work related stress. This helped and reduced but didn't eradicate the stress, so I resigned.
I also worked out what food/drink triggered it and had to cut out/reduce those. People seem to be triggered by different things, but for me it was spicy foods, nuts and alcohol.
As long as I don't have too much of the above I'm generally ok. I'm happy to answer any questions if you want to message me.
@Covered End thanks for your advice, can I ask did you have surgery or medication to help ease the issue? I now work PT, but didn't when the problem first started, my alcohol intake nowadays is red wine at the weekend. I don't eat nuts, due to an allergy, but I love spicey food of all sorts. Would it be worth, if confirmed, cutting out red meat, as recently I've found I need to go to the loo loads more, up to 10 times a day, if I have steak? Thanks for your help so far. NB I'll message you with any further questions or for advice.
I take 2 basalazide capsules twice a day and if I have a rare flare up I up the dose to 3, 3 times a day for maybe a week. I can drink sensibly but possibly not over indulge for a few days running. So I could probably have 5 pints today, but may be in trouble if I did it a few days running. The thing is you don't know how it may react if you don't do it. Curries were a no no for me for some years. It's really a case of cutting items out you had the day before if they appear to upset you. It's trial and error I'm afraid. But over the years I improved and have been able to reintroduce things, but try and be a bit sensible.
I want to say thanks to the lifers on here who are keeping us updated on their progress through what most would consider a personal nightmare. A lot of people would have little knowledge about the various diseases and their treatments mentioned here and there is a pretty good chance that some of us may know someone off this board who may be facing a similar situation and it can be a pretty scary place to be, without support and knowledge. Both of those qualities are here in abundance, well done to all.
The Lass got her diagnosis today and she has a rare aggressive form of T cell lymphoma and they want to start chemo asap which will be Thursday. Not what we expected but we'll deal with it as best we can.
Redmidland - good news keep going we need your sensibility on CL.

@Redmidland keeping everything crossed that all goes well ♥️
Sincere best wishes.
Please give Gail & huge hug for me and tell her we're all rooting for her at this difficult time.
It must be years since we saw each other at an away match - the one I remember was an evening game at Elland Rd.
I fervently hope that we're able to do so once again in the not too distant future.
x
Sending you both much love ♥️
