We’re playing a f******* ski resort ffs
No attacking prowess, just passing it backwards and forwards in the final third against a team that are ranked so low that you have to scroll to the bottom of the FIFA rankings. Their players play at 6th tier football clubs.
Southgate’s football may have been boring because he was defensive. Tuchel’s is boring because he wants to attack but doesn’t know how to do it.
Southgate didn’t win anything but put us in 2 semi finals and one final. Tuchel out now otherwise we’ll get 2nd round in 2026 at the very best.3 -
That has to be up there as one of the most boring England games i've ever seen. Utter shit and if Southgate was still in charge he'd have been absolutely crucified for a performance like that.
Yes we won, of course we were always going to win, but the most damning stat of all for me is that we had just 11 shots. At home. To Andorra. That is absolutely pathetic.
France had 16 shots v Ukraine.
Portugal had 24 shots v Armenia.
Italy had 40 (yes forty) v Estonia.
You can point to the likes of Foden, Palmer, Bellingham and Saka being out injured but realistically any XI we put out should be doing much better than that. I wouldn't mind betting that Carsley's Under 21s would've done better and created more. Not been convinced at all by Tuchel so far, and midweek will be his first real serious test.7 -

Like limited overs cricket (50 and 20 over matches) I wonder if there should he a rule that you have to keep 2 players inside the centre circle at all times. Or draw a line 50 yards from goal and only 8 players are allowed behind it.
Does’nt surprise me this result. We’ve been shit and won nothing since I was three (1966) and I can’t see it changing anytime soon.1 -

I look at these games like Pre-season friendlies, mean fuck all. Will Tuchel get us over the line in a QF against France, would he beat Spain in a final, or Croatia in a semi. This has been our problem with this group of players, so I’m holding out till we get there.2

Really don’t enjoy watching England at the moment!2

absolute crap, turned over to Bromley v Gillingham, much better entertainment,If this side played France or Spain at the moment we would get wiped out,I do not rate Tuchel one bit,so far football has been the most boring I can recall from an England team.1

Messi will be 39 during next year's world Cup.
Regarding the GOAT debate, he pretty much wipes the floor with every other contender.
I wonder what he decides to do after his playing career.1 -

Thought I’d throw a bit of politics into this.
With rare exceptions such as Ukraine fans singing insults at Putin, if the fans are going on about politics then that sends the team a very clear message that no-one cares about them.1 -
If England played better we’d all get called over exaggerators and we laud our players, the English media go over the top blah blah blah; it’s easier to c*** em off.2

The English media are shit.
They have always been shit. That won't ever change.5 -

His post-match comments didn't exactly inspire confidence either:
"I liked the performance. It was a good performance, a solid performance against a low block." - was it? I don't think a single England fan would agree that was a good performance."The second goal came too late to play with maybe 100% freedom that is needed to score more" - if we can't play with freedom at home to Andorra in a game where we could've probably played without a goalkeeper and still won then when will we?

You also need to factor in Saka, Palmer and Bellingham being back at the World Cup. Not to mention Stones alongside Guehi instead of Burn.
Still not sure who sits alongside Rice in midfield.
Is the Mainoo experiment over? What’s happened to Gallagher?2 -
Too late?! The second goal was in the 67th minute. If the manager thinks that’s too late to change things then we better sack him now.
I wonder how any English managers, from let’s say League Two or The National League, would have played that match with the players at his disposal and against that opposition. I reckon that they’d be rubbing their hands in glee, and they’d certainly get them making more than 23% forward passes.
I don’t think that only Tuchel would play this style. So many top managers are so obsessed with passing the ball backwards and sideways. I can understand the approach against top teams because you risk leaving yourself open and getting caught out.
If we’d had our players making more runs, more forward passes, and also some taking it occasionally and running at them in central positions then maybe we might have let in a goal or two but I’m convinced we’d have scored a bucketful.
I’ve read on here and in the media that long gone are the days when you can expect 7 or 8-0 against these minnows but why is that? It’s because today’s managers pay too much attention to stats on laptops and drawing diagrams etc. They and the tools they use are looking at all opposition like they all have players as dangerous as ours.
If we had played a Bobby Robson or Venables team, who weren’t better players than those we have now, against that lot yesterday we would have pissed all over them.
If anyone thinks I’m talking crap, have a look at their team yesterday, and the clubs they play for:Iker Álvarez Córdoba CFBiel Borra FC L’EscalaMax Llovera CP San CristóbalChristian García UE Santa ColomaIan Olivera UD BarbastroMoisés San Nicolás FC Santa ColomaAron Rodrigo SD HuescaPau Babot Hanauer SC 1960Marc Vales CE Atlètic (Lleida)Joel Guillén CD BinéfarRicard Fernández UE Santa Coloma0 - Sponsored links:

How does Rashford get a game, can’t see any benefit in him playing.
Overall disjointed and lacking any spark whatsoever, wouldn’t be surprised if we lost on Tuesday.1 -

Thought I’d throw a bit of politics into this. It’s a very weird fanbase at times. And I say that as someone who actually follows England home and away regularly myself.8 -
Now 17 countries qualified as Morocco won their African qualifying group on Friday with 2 of their 8 games still to play.3

I liked it when only 16 nations could play in the euro finals.
It at least actually meant something to qualify for the tournament and the euro knockout stage fixture list was clear.
4 groups. A,B,C,D

4 groups. A,B,C,D100%Then the qualifying games were more exciting as there were so few teams able to go through.Nowadays it is almost impossible for the major countries not to qualify as there are a lot more teams being able to get through. Consequently many games are foregone conclusions and not much more than a training exercise. As for the Champions League.............this is just a money fest. It had more meaning when it was the European Cup, nowadays it is just a glorified UEFA Cup.4 -
That Norn Iron goal, wow!
