That would be a third qualifier who have never been to a World Cup before. They have two games in October to get the three points they need to be sure, and one of the games is at home to the last-placed team in their group.

England currently hold the biggest points lead (7) of any European team in qualifying.

A win in Latvia next month guarantees at least a playoff berth. Follow that up with a draw or better against Serbia at Wembley in November and we’ll be in the draw in December.

Helps we've played loads of games, some have only played 2 I think?

I really don't think anyone ever doubted this.

In Cape Verde's instance it's due to them being good rather than due to the expansion.
  • No new qualifier yesterday, but we got the second of the six countries that go into the intercontinental playoffs - Bolivia are the South American representative, joining New Caledonia. I suspect whoever wins the African and North American playoffs to qualify for the intercontinental games will be pretty relaxed about playing either of those two.

Bolivia got there by beating Brazil, which isn't the same sort of achievement it once was. Plus it was at home, at altitude and with Brazil already qualified so not caring. But a win's a win and into the hat they go.

They needed the win as they went into the last game, one point (and a worse Goal Difference) behind Venezuela, who are the one team from South America never to make the World Cup, and lost 3-6 at home to Colombia, who had also qualified already.

Bolivia aiming to qualify for the first time since 1994... the last time it was in the United States ironically.

  • Aasgaard with 4 goals after only coming on as a sub with 25 minutes left.
Haaland with 5 goals and 2 assists.

Poor effort by Haaland in comparison really.  I don't know what the fuss is about.
  • Wonder how much we'll get for our Jamaicans.

  • Now it makes sense why we’re signing half their nation

It sounds like there'll be waves of emails going out every couple of days and if you were unsuccessful, FIFA will email to tell you that by the end of this month.

If you got a cat 4 ticket to watch your team for every game including the final, that alone will set you back nearly $3200, apparently.

For those in the England Supporters Club that go to games outside of tournaments it will be a lot cheaper.

I think for the Euro 2024 final I paid about 300 Euros, but those with more points were getting them for 100ish.

Has it been confirmed that that is definitely the case? I haven't seen anything confirming the cheaper tickets for the ESTC from the usual channels, just that it was assumed.

Don’t think so yet, but I assumed the original prices were based on ‘general sale’ numbers as it was a public ballot where anyone could enter.

Now 17 countries qualified as Morocco won their African qualifying group on Friday with 2 of their 8 games still to play.
Up to 18 qualifiers today after Tunisia also win their group with 2 games in hand, although in their case they've played 8 of 10. No real shocks about the first two qualifiers from Africa, but with 9 to qualify this time there are some relatively unfamiliar names among the countries still in contention.
Egypt won their group yesterday, during the second-last round of games in Africa, making it 19 qualifiers to date.
  • Round 4 of the Asian qualifiers started last night. Saudi took a big step towards qualification with a win.

The runners up of each group at this stage then go into a two-legged play off (round 5) next month. The winner of that goes into the Intercontinental play off, and should an Asian team come through that to qualify it would mean they have played TWENTY TWO games to qualify.

Crazy numbers, considering some European sides will qualify after playing just 6.

Those were the standard prices for the final - ESTC got an allocation made up of tickets from each category (same in Euro 2020), but we paid the same as everyone else in the stadium in equivalent seats. And, consequently, we'll get robbed blind next year, same as everyone else. Only possible benefit is that ESTC's allocation might not be subject to this dynamic pricing robbery (that's a guess, not based on any inside info).

I fear I may have got it wrong about ESTC tickets being cheaper. Sounds like the reservation of cheaper tickets for supporters clubs is more of a UEFA initiative, and not a FIFA one.

UEFA has a ‘fans first’ pricing tier, but not FIFA.

And even still, the cheaper tickets for the Final are going to be well oversubscribed, even at $2000+ each.

FIFA tournaments often involve actually paying for the ticket well in advance via the country’s official supporters club in order to reserve your place. And it then gets refunded if your country don’t make it.

So basically FIFA make a ton of money in interest just sitting in the bank from support groups all around the world hoping their team gets to the final.

And if you really want to see something sickening, look up the ‘NFT’ option to get tickets….
