Going from william hill's match information the next game is at 2am UK time,  Friday morning, then the next game kicks off at 3am, then there's the Canada game at 8pm. I cannot get my head around time zones but that doesn't feel right at all.
Yes, it's odd for the 2nd game for the second game, held in the same country, (at 3am) to be 5 hours after the first one ended. Not helped by different Mexican time zones, but for the audience outside the country, it rather kills the momentum.
So that the corupt FIFA execs have time to get on their private jets to fly from Mexico City to Guadalajara to take in both games.

I thought Korea looked a decent side, moved the ball well. Don’t think Mexico will pose the same threat as Czech did from set pieces, so can see Korea winning the group.

"I got the World Cup gig, amazing!  When do I fly out?"

'Oh no, sorry, you'll be working in Salford at 3am with Clinton Morrison.'

A game of 4 quarters that adds plenty of time for adverts (sorry…hydration breaks). By chance, does this happen in American football?  I wasn’t impressed with the opening ceremony or the football. 🥸
I had no interest in watching an opening ceremony. I started watching the Mexico v South Africa game but it was so hard going and gave up at half time. In the past I’d more or less watch every game of the tournament. I suspect I’ll won’t be watching too many games of this one.

I woke up at 4am and watched the second half, was a very good last 20 minutes. Regretting it now though sat at my desk.

Same here. Would have preferred winner and 4 best runner ups in each group to go into a round of 16. Will probably leave it until round of sixteen before I start bothering.

Listening to the radio they interviewed some yanks and they seem more bothered about some basketball game or something than they are about this world cup. Complete waste staging it there.

There is a spoiler though, for the Mexico v South Africa game it says 3 red cards.

The Play Offs will most likely end at the weekend and the Knicks is a bigger story than could have been predicted. Plus the group stages are almost meaningless with this format. It'll ramp up after that a bit

Just a PSA, if you want to watch the BBC highlight of the games throughout the night you can use https://bbc.co.uk/nospoilers and it takes you straight to the highlights without mention of the scores

So you wouldn't be talking about an ongoing Ashes series whilst a world cup is on?

NBA finals are coming to a close (potentially this weekend) and basketball is huge there so it's hardly a shock. Also the last game was probably one of the best in NBA playoff history so it's natural people are talking about it.

Wimbledon starts at the end of this month, i imagine a lot of Brits will watch that as well as the World Cup.

... and The Open concludes the same day as the World Cup Final!

Yeah but the world cup isn't in England and the ashes isn't on. Kent however are playing.

So have I got this right re corners?
If the ref gives a corner and it clearly isn’t, VAR can intervene and overturn.
BUT if a ref gives a goal kick when it clearly should have been a corner, VAR aren’t allowed to get involved.

Who the feck thought that shit up?

Enjoyed RTÉ commentary, although Ritchie Sadler clearly has the hump about the officiating and the standard of some teams.

Yeah that's what I heard. It's ridiculous, why can't they do both? And surely you would want more corners.

And a wide-screen TV so you can watch this once in a lifetime important basketball world final game with surround sound so you can hear every squeak of their shoes.
