Great to see Holmes-Dennis back at Sparrows Lane, along with Maloney and Azeez

Especially as the former had retired - Stefan Payne is a crazy signing too for them, we were linked when he left Shrewsbury after their Play-Off campaign, yet ended up at Bristol Rovers instead

Based on last season, Dobson would be first on the team sheet, but I've not been overwhelmed with him in pre season so maybe he isn't an automatic starter for Garner?

THD before his injuries and retirement, would definitely still be a league player.

Morgan as holding mid is very risky. If our first choice midfield is going to be Payne, Morgan, Fraser then I think we will be conceding a lot of goals. Fair enough if he wants a better passer than Dobson as the holding midfielder but we have JFC or McGrandles for that. I’m hoping McGrandles starts and Leaburn is on the bench

Aneke looked like he was struggling to chase down one of their CBs at the start

Based on the season before that JFC would have been.

Finding it strange there seem to be doubts whether our current player of the year, by an absolute country mile I might add, is going to be a starter, when we havent seen much of the new players. Seems either dismissive or short memories. Unless we are selling him, in which case I’ll shut up!!!🤣

Does look like a second string. And would not be entirely surprised if Dobson is not in our first 11. I'm not sure he fits the planned style.

Still reckon the midfield 3 of choice will be Payne, McGrandles and Fraser. With Grandles taking up the DM spot.

Depends on what Garner thinks of him and if he fits into the new system. He's not as good on the ball as people like Fraser and Payne, and the higher press we're expecting to play means a midfield enforcer right in front of the back 4 might not be necessary. No-one is doubting his ability, it's more if he's the jigsaw piece we need or not this coming season, which he might not be once McGrandles is fit

Think this is him coming out of retirement, unless he's helping to make up the numbers and is working at Charlton.

Haven't seen his name on any other Welling teamsheets this summer.

High energy, moves the ball forward, good at winning back possession and more?

I feel this is more giving different players a chance to play together. The whole squad needs to be a team.

Gilbey has so much time to take a touch and turn there and he just passes it 15-yards backwards

It's not OUR doubts about Dobson, it's whether Garner feels the same way, seeing that he has been left out of the big game this weekend, and instead is playing a team 3 divisions below us.

As the cliche goes, under a new manager everyone starts afresh

He said on twitter 26th June he is getting back out on the grass this season, whatever level he gets to he said he'd be happy just play again

Ness is looking pretty good in that CB role today.

Deji and Ness look very uncomfortable with the ball under pressure.  I am feeling more and more comfortable with the concept of Clayden as a reserve left back.
