  • Felt like we kept the ball for about 5 minutes there before DJ gets the shot away just over the bar

Rather petulant hack into the trees by Kirk
3 off the tee now then
Did he manage to get it as far as the pitch & putt course then..😅
  • Nice little move there.
  • Ness is looking pretty good in that CB role today.
Interesting that Ness is the left CB and Elewere is at RB tonight, not ideal really as Elewere is hardly the sort of attacking full back you'd want against a non league side.
  • Dobson leaving for Championship ?
    Nah, Premiership. Forest.
Nah Barcelona for £50m, paid for by selling off more of their TV rights

Finding it strange there seem to be doubts whether our current player of the year, by an absolute country mile I might add, is going to be a starter, when we havent seen much of the new players. Seems either dismissive or short memories. Unless we are selling him, in which case I’ll shut up!!!🤣
Depends on what Garner thinks of him and if he fits into the new system. He's not as good on the ball as people like Fraser and Payne, and the higher press we're expecting to play means a midfield enforcer right in front of the back 4 might not be necessary. No-one is doubting his ability, it's more if he's the jigsaw piece we need or not this coming season, which he might not be once McGrandles is fit
Just to clarify I didn’t say people were doubting his ability, just his starting position. The competition may make him even better.🤷🏻‍♂️

Our player of the year from the year before (where we finished 7th so in a much better team) is also seemingly out of favour and may be sold. There are doubts over whether Dobson suits a team that is hoping to have 60% possession so I think it’s understandable that there is a debate over his place. I would still have him in the team but Garner may prefer McGrandles as he is probably better on the ball than Dobson

It's not OUR doubts about Dobson, it's whether Garner feels the same way, seeing that he has been left out of the big game this weekend, and instead is playing a team 3 divisions below us.

As the cliche goes, under a new manager everyone starts afresh

  • Gilbey pulling an Albie - almost hit it over the bar from close range
  • edited July 2022
Nice drift into the box and ROCKET of a shot exploading the crossbar from everybodies favourite midfielder.

Did Gilbey tweet something that hurt you once? :D

Or he just wants to see what other players can do against stronger opposition as its pretty clear what Dobson and a couple of others can do?

If that’s the thinking, why not sell Dobson? I think he is maybe being underestimated, don’t get me wrong his specialist position isn’t one I enjoy to watch as a player, but appreciate that particularly last season he was very good. I prefer a midfielder to be like midfielders of the past, box to box and good all round. Once again if what you are suggesting is right, for me that could be four midfielders being wasted, Dobson style doesn’t fit, Morgan& gilbey are marmite when it comes to opinion, Jfc wants to go and not sure if he can still cut it. Suddenly we are looking thin in midfield. Obviously all won’t go. Just hypothetically speaking.
  • Good to see plenty of balls going into the box though its mostly through DJ. Elerewe is a monster...raw at the moment but think will develop and learn pretty quickly.
  • Everyone assuming Kirk will simply play ahead of DJ...what are you basing that on?
  • Taylor Maloney showing that we trained him well in corner taking  ;)

    DJ not being particularly good?
  • Quiet enjoyed that half, though would have been nice to have finished one of our chances.

Thought it was the best Dobson had looked for us in pre season.

Being played in his actual position tonight, he could have had 2 goals and should have had 2 assists? In one half
  • How old is Ness? Looks very assured on the ball. Dobson has been better this game than when I saw him play last. Other than a few wayward passes has been showing for the ball well.
  • End product has been lacking

If he's being played in his actual position he's competing with CBT then?
  • Well not the most inspiring first half but if Aneke or DJ could shoot on target we’d probably be 2 or 3 up.
Eleware isn’t a right back and Clayton isn’t a left back, Kirk playing like he wishes he wasn’t there and his crosses are shite. JFC & Lavelle looking the best players on the pitch.
  • For anyone that is familiar with Avery Hill Park is the training ground now totally obscured from the park? Looks to be a lot more greenery there since I was last there. Maybe that’s what they mean when it’s behind closed doors!

     T'was ever thus.
  • Also we really need some fullbacks. Playing right back did not flatter Deji
  • Top save to deny Kirk
  • Sounds like Chin is on at right back.
