Seen a few comments on social media calling for him to be dropped as he hasn't scored yet. Madness! Yes it's disappointing he's yet to score yet, but he offers so much more than that - can't believe people can't see that.
The prime objective for a striker is to score goals.
Leaburn has played 10 league games this season and has not scored a single goal.
I know he works hard and I know what he offers the team.
But the longer he goes without a goal it's hardly surprising some fans are calling for him to be dropped.

His Dad is literally considered a legend of our club despite not being a prolific goal scorer & I think Miles has all the potential, at what is still a young age, to be a better goalscorer than Carl. He's certainly shown bundles more this season than anyone else up top

I'd rather play Grant or Kelman up top as they are both better at scoring than Leaburn.
I'd prefer to see Leaburn as a number 10.

I said as much last week I think Leaburn and Grant would work better if they swapped places.

I think we are still in a situation where we need the supply to whoever plays up top to be better and more often, our strikers aren’t getting the ball in positions to score, but I would caveat that by saying they need to keep demanding that from the midfield/wingers, I’m not sure the best strikers would score many for us at the moment, but it’s a working progress.

It's a very low bar for Miles tbf.

    You're not asking for much.

The prime objective for a striker is to help the team win games, as it is for any player. We are 13th in the league, which is good for us and Leaburn is playing a big part in that. It doesn’t matter who scores the goals, Leaburn is helping the team get results and that’s all that matters.

Kelman might score more goals but if the team is worse with him there instead of Leaburn then it’s meaningless. Take Leaburn out and then TC would score less goals, we’d be worse from set pieces in both boxes, may struggle to get up the pitch without his hold up play. It’s not just as simple as a striker not scoring so should be dropped

All I'm saying is it's not hard to see certain fans having a pop at a striker  that hasn't scored in ten games.
Not saying I'd drop him btw , but I'd  rather see him playing as a ten.
But I can see why others are calling for him to be dropped.

I think Leaburn will score in the next few games. We’ve barely created any chances for him this season, no striker would have scored from that service. However, the last 2 games we’ve created more chances than any other games this season, Leaburn himself had 1 of those chances on Tuesday. If we continue to create more chances then he will benefit and the goals will come. If we create him chances and he misses them, then there’s a conversation to be had about his place in the team

We went though this last season. Kelman would get a few starts ahead of TC because he could score goals.

When he wasn’t scoring goals we weren’t creating enough, so we’d put TC back in and we’d start creating more.

TC couldn’t score so we’d put Kelman back and so on.

The solution isn’t to play Leaburn or Kelman. Neither offer everything we need, so we’ll try different options and hopefully pick up enough points along the way.

It’s the same with the AM and RW positions until we sign better or someone steps up.

    Been superb all season.

Barely missed a chance until the header the night, because he’s not getting service and is doing most of his work scrapping around in thankless circumstances miles away from the goal.

He would be revelling in a more front footed team and would probably be getting a very generous return. Unlikely to ever do that with us the way we play; but looking at Cardiff for example how front footed and the situations they created in and around our box, he would have scored a good few for them this season I’m sure

big fan of the kid and hope he grows with us over the next few years

I think Leaburn has played well this season but he shouldn't accept a lack of goals. Part of the issue is the way we use him. He needs more touches in the box. If he wants to be the player I think he can be, and that is Premier League, he needs to add the goals. Confidence is also a factor if course and I'm hoping one will lead to many.

I think that Miles will grow/develop, like TC did, and all of a sudden it’ll be a case of how long can we keep them.

The prime job for a centre forward is to score goals. The prime job for a goalkeeper is to stop goals. Yes there other jobs that both need to do. But whoever heard of a non scoring centre forward? When we score goals there is a better chance of winning, I like Leaburn but we need a more prolific goal scorer to play beside him or instead of him.

Leaburn is quality. He is a centre forward and that’s his proper position. How we get other players to support him I really don’t know.
I think it’s time for Carey to step up.

There is a reason that strikers get and cost the big bucks! You can’t just say it doesn’t matter who scores because our strikers don’t!!, 😂

We need to get Kelman in. I’d push Miles to the right, play Kelman in the CF role and TC on the left. Either try Grant in the 10 role again or drop him and try Carey/Knibbs there.

There are plenty of teams where the strikers aren’t the main goalscorers, they help the other players score goals - usually that’s the wide forwards. Of course they usually also score some themselves but I’m sure Leaburn will score some eventually

What Leaburn is doing is helping the team score goals, mainly TC.

Derby at home - Leaburn’s run in behind gets us up the pitch, TC picks up the loose ball and scores

West Ham away - Leaburn wins the ball back from the centre back, TC does the rest

West Brom away - Leaburn is the target of a cross, not sure if he meant it but the knock down ends at TC’s feet for him to do the rest

Burnley away - Leaburn blocks the keeper and Ramsay scores

We’ve only scored 10 goals and he’s had involvement in 4 of them. Yes he needs to add some goals himself, but he also needs chances to be able to do that. Last 2 games we’ve created good chances so if that continues Leaburn needs to capitalise or he will then have to come out of the team

The primary role of every player is to help the team win games. Scoring goals is just one way of doing that, helping others score them is another, holding the ball up, getting us up the pitch, pressing from the front, defending from set plays etc are all things that help the team win games. Leaburn is doing a lot of these things very well, so taking him out risks you losing that

Not faulting his effort, but I’d bench him and put Kelman in at the start, Kelman needs a run of games and will change the dynamic a bit which I think we need, Leaburn has often looked better with a bit of anger off the bench.

Miles has scored 2 goals in his last 48 league games. His contribution to play may be getting better, but he needs more goals. Its not as if we have a Clive Mendonca or David Whyte next to him scoring for fun.

I'm not overly concerned about Miles and his lack of goals, because apart from the header vs. Burnley, how many chances can you say there has been moment where we've gone: "Miles you've wasted that" or "Miles why werent you there at the end of that ball" - The moment we start having to do that, there's a problem

I think he has missed 3 decent chances this season that I recall.  I also think he maybe has not done enough to get into the right positions for more chances, if Godden had played the same number of games I have no doubt he would have had more chances for instance.

That isn't a dig at Leaburn who I have hugely high hopes for, it's just that part of his game needs to develop, when it does he will progress rapidly and I do think it is when.

Our issue is we could likely do with having him not playing every minute but we don't have adequate back up.

This is where I am with Miles.
I think that his overall play has been excellent.
When he starts getting and missing chances then people can complain.
Because of the way we play, if we take Miles out of the line-up we would create less.
Grant has been disappointing and he is the player that I would remove and give Kelman a go.
