It seems that Beale's Charlton connections have given QPR Charltonesque injury and fitness problems!4

Well worth it for Henry's goal alone but the penalty shoot out and a win makes it well worth the £15 that some we're whinging about.
Another psychological boost beating a higher division side for the first time since I can't remember when and we remain unbeaten.
A lot of good performances, especially at the back where we needed to make a lot of blocks and tackles.
QPR probably edged it in terms of pressure but we stood up well and played our football.
Dobson was very good again, Morgan looked very good when he came on and Clayden was a star at full back. Lavelle and O’Connell stood firm and Clare and DJ caused at lot of problems.
Ness was up against a greyhound bit stuck with it.
Henry had a difficult game as Rangers were getting on top after he came on but he came up with the goods twice.
Credit to BG and who the flip is Michael Beale😉
On to the next round and anyone but Palace as we don't need the distraction

Oh, and Lee Bowyer was there as were Chris Houghton and Andrew Crofts.
Dream team?

Andrew Crofts currently head coach of Brighton U21s. Who are we getting on loan then?0

Fair play. Bows would have enjoyed that and can now say he made Leaburn and Henry.4

Beale going out of his way to be nice about Charlton a few times there. Good stuff5

First game I've been to in a long while, was surprised how much Leaburn has bulked up over the summer and for 18 years old looks a real prospect. We played some great football first half and were the better side.
Looks like we have a Manager who is fully prepared to have a go rather than be negative and sterile like some recently. His subs were a sign of that.
Really impressed with QPR's turnout for a nothing game. Mouthy as they come so hope they enjoy their schlep back home 😀

Fair play to him that's a very honest assessment.6 -
Surprised that it was QPR's best available team. Puts our performance in an even better light.7

Wouldn't mind getting Evan Ferguson their young Irish striker on loan if he's made available. Looked very impressive in the youth cup against us along with Andy Moran.2 -

Was up at 5am in Majorca and got home mid afternoon. Knackered but always struggle to resist Charlton at The Valley. So glad I went, thoroughly enjoyable evening. Really pleased with what we were trying to do in possession and how we moved the ball around. It was only when making numerous changes second half, notably Dobson and Clare, that we lost our fluidity a bit and generally weakened as a team. Their goal felt a real killer as by that stage we weren’t looking a goal threat. It was Leaburn’s best work of the night winning the corner and then a cracking strike from Henry. No idea if his general play will prove good enough but that’s a few decent strikes in his locker now.The back four all impressed. Particularly highlighting Clayden, first time I’ve properly watched him. Tired near the end but a good touch, positive with the ball, very encouraging. Central pairing gelled well and looked secure. Clare I think is a class act. In midfield Dobson had his usual game and DJ looked better from what I saw last season.Gilbey and JFC didn’t exactly disappoint, but for senior players I expect more. Leaburn looks closer to being ready than Burstow did last year, but he almost tried too hard and will need to learn to be a bit cuter in his individual battles. Otherwise he’s going to be getting a lot of free kicks given against him.Other disappointing aspects were (mentioned elsewhere), the awful home turnout, the only two attempts at a home atmosphere in the first 60 mins were the embarrassing Feeesh and equally embarrassing quickening hand clap at corners, and the lack of hot food selection in the West before the game.
Do to the lack of Charlton fans, could park near the ground, the drive home was traffic free, so every cloud and all that.

Enjoyed the game. Thought we completely matched QPR. Their first 3 subs injected a bit of quality and pace up top but we held pretty firm.
Good performances throughout the side but Clayden and Clare were excellent seeing neither are really full backs by trade. Thought O'Connell looked really solid having not seen him previously. Lavelle also played well and Wollacott was largely untroubled. Can't really say that JFC or Gilbey did much to put them in contention for making the first 11. Morgan looked better when he came on. DJ was pretty effective I thought as was Payne.
Felt a bit for Ness who was a bit all over the place after his error for their (very well taken) goal. Also a tough game for Leaburn leading the line. Can see his reading of the game wasn't quite there a couple of times but he'll improve with more experience and he kept going right to the last minute.
All in all feeling pretty positive after that. Great to see the ball on the deck and us being confident playing it around like we did.6 -

And could actually get a table in the Fansbar and served with no queue0

Once they took off Bonne they looked much better, which didn't surprise me in the slightest as he's like playing with 10 men. Thought there would be only one winner after that and their goal but what a strike from Henry. I didn't think he was playing well at all before he banged that one in, unbelievable technique.
Ness really isn't a right back, would have made more sense to bring Chin on. Hopefully he gets a run out at CB in the pizza cup as I thought he outshone Lavelle in the pre-season game he played and looked very comfortable on the ball.2 -
Bit gutted it wasn’t a clean sheet win if I’m honest.2

Clayden was a stand out for me - really solid - given he has literally no senior minutes No need to buy a back up left back in my opinion. Odd some of the low scores he got in the ratings thread.17

QPR stopped trying to go down his side when they realised they would have a lot more joy against Ness.4 -
We won a must win game.
Deservedly so.
I have been impressed so far with Garners attitude to the use, deployment, and substitutions of our players.
I am also impressed with what seems to be the influence Garner has on players in making them better and more effective.
Although I did think Mac would play in goal this evening, so he may be the unhappy guy, but looking at how much opportunity all squad players have had so far I don't think there can be any complaints from any of them.
QPR fans went big on being disparaging (as well as an impressive turnout) so good old Karma decided to teach them some humility.0
