    Wowsers!

Except my stupid stream chose that exact corner to suddenly jump 20 seconds, missing the goal  :D
I ran upstairs to tell Golfie Jnr to come down & see it on Sky to find he's watching an illegal stream in his bedroom. Cheeky git!
Well, he knows what you're like, Golfie!

He wasn't going to ask you to watch the stream with him, now was he?  - he didn't want anybody moaning all through the match.

  • Id love to see the stat for how many times Bonne has been caught offside on his return to the valley playing for the opposing team

    Feels like a bloody lot.

Well that was nice. I missed the last 10 minutes of the match plus all but the lat pensly, as I was in the car, but that is just not the Charlton way, and great to see a change in how we go into cups. And we are playing football. Early days, but good feeling.

Just woke up after snoozing on the sofa during the torture of an excrutiating recorded episode of Downton Abbey.

I had the weirdest dream that we won on penalties after Henry scored a worldy equalizer in the last minute. Bizarre.

(I WILL say that Ness looks completely unready, but hey, Egbo to come back)
You do realise he’s a Centre Back who fills in at Right Back don’t you? Give the lad a chance obviously the new management team saw something to keep him around and send Deji on loan.
He got torn to ribbons over fifteen extremely stressful minutes, admittedly by some good players.

When Egbo is fit I wouldn't be surprised if he went out on loan at the end of the window

Leaburn came alive in the box and some good play led to the corner from which we scored from.

    Don't overlook key contributions.

He's a CB, seems he may be ahead of Bakrin and Elerewe right now.

Fair enough! Maybe he'll get some minutes there in the next round

QPR celebrated their goal like it was a playoff final winner and sung about Wembley. Couldn’t happen to a bigger bunch of clowns 🤡
Celebration police are easily one of the worst new trends in football.

Plus he's 20, and Morgan could or should have got back quicker to support him. The replay showed he had Shodipo on his right too, so would have let him in if he had pressed out sooner.
Yep that was a quality strike from a Pemier League player as well so he’ll learn from that as it’s all part of his development. Let’s not forget he’s come a long way up the football pyramid in a very short space of time and gets the benefit of doubt from me ftb.

Only a minor thing but Wednesday are playing tomorrow which gives them a day less recovery. Marginal gains 😅

Celebrate the goal sure, it was a really good strike. Singing about Wembley is a bit weird though and they deserve everything they get for that.

They’re free to celebrate however they want.
just as I am free to think they’re absolute weapons for going nuts and singing about Wembley

QPR are famously terrible in cups. Pretty certain there was a heavy helping of irony

Well that was a pleasant surprise. I'm wondering whether Kirk's reaction to Henry's goal was "oh shit, am I going to have to take a penalty?"

A good tactical battle but both teams largely cancelled each other out. Not a great deal of penalty box action but two superb strikes.

Thought we were brave enough in possession and got the ball out wide pretty well. Payne was a cut above, with tight turns and quick ideas.

Clayden did himself no harm at all with a very competent performance at left back.

Henry looked a tad lightweight in general play but his goal was brilliant. He clearly has ability.

Gilbey tried hard enough but seemed to lack composure at times and will be down the pecking order for some time. Overall though, the midfield was competitive and passed well.

I got the impression that Garner knew what he was doing throughout and that the players did too.

Doubt a single QPR fan singing it thought they were going to Wembley. It's a cup match, it's what you sing. Much like England fans singing it's coming home, it's largely done ironically.

I'd prefer Henry on the pitch having the ability to do that than some of the things Gilbey offers.

That was about 75% of QPRs best team, playing to win.  Over a season you are very rarely going to ever play a team at 100% strength.

Yeah we won on pens but they only scored because they had a very good championship player, on loan from the prem.  We won't face a team, or individual, as good as that most weeks.

I think every that started for us was in the pretty good to OK range.

O'Connell showed he is a much better player than we have seen so far.

Clare is the best right back we have had since Adam Matthews the 1st (fuck knows what happened to the 2nd and 3rd ones).

JFC and Gilbey were significantly better (less worse) than you would imagine if you just read the thread.

    Jojo is POTY already.

Leaburn shouldn't play as the CF, in this formation, for the next 18 months, or so.  That's not knocking him.

DJ looked, well DJish but maybe a little sharper.

Clayden, there is definitely something to work with, but I thought that when he played right wing last summer.  Is he a left back now?  Is that his trade?

Payne will split the crowd a bit IMO a bit like Maddison was ment to be.

Very good performance. Would like to see us crate a bit more but still good. QPR we’re pony and so were their fans singing about Chelsea every other song, got incredibly boring after 5 minutes. Inthought Payne looked really good and thought Jfc done well and the centre backs look solid.

Big shout out to Bonne still an absolute pony player wouldn’t be surprised if they get rid of him by the end of the month.
  • The penalty should do O'Connells confidence a power of good.  Good that he took it.  Good that he scored.

As cringy as it originally was/is, Addicks to Victory becomes more Brent when we are actually hitting some form and I'm warming to it 🤣

Went with no expectations and thought it was a pretty good game. We probably had the better of the first half but the game completely changed when they brought Roberts on and we brought on Ness and Henry.

Thought it was game over when Roberts scored but we did so well to get back in the game. Obviously a brilliant goal but credit to Leaburn for winning us the corner as well. Think he’s absolute quality and destined for huge things.

DJ had a good game, as did Clayden and Gilbey. JFC was a bit anonymous for me and Ness looked quite bad when he came on but maybe understandable considering who he was up against and they were clearly targeting that side.

Not at all. I don't really have favourites/non favourites. I just made that point as Leaburn was getting a bit of flak on the match thread before that attack.

Not a bad welcome back to the valley. Wouldn't have guessed there was one championship and one league 1 team out there, thought we looked very good, much better in the flesh. Had my United season ticket holder mate along (as well as wifey) and he was quite impressed, mind you not hard given how shite manure are!

Lovely strike for the equaliser, also, didn't realise how big Leaburn is.

Couple of comical individual moments but, not bad, not bad at all!

Wifey is now 2 for 2 in Charlton penalty shoot outs, going to ship her over for every cup game now on.
