Fuck me give it rest, play a system that puts crosses into our only centre forward then you might see a change in those stats, then you would have to find another scapegoat.
You are assuming that I am not making the same eloquent point as you?
I apologise if you are but I think the continued chasing down of one of our, in my opinion, better players is wearing, he needs support Mendonca from nearly everyone.

How many goals are scored from aerial crosses into the box these days ?

I actually don't know but go on enlighten me
The one we conceded was from a cross wasn't it, so that's one.
Back home in Shropshire, I’ve enjoyed all the northern away matches this season so far , despite the results, After 50 years of watching Charlton I’m used to it, by far the must depressing thing is reading comments on here and seeing so many empty seats at the valley. If you think that not being promoted is disastrous your supporting the wrong team. The football is so much better to watch then last year and I’m still stupidly hopeful every Saturday. Cheers to everyone who travelled much further then me today

I generally agree with this / I think the football is better than last year but it is very disappointing that we didn’t recruit another decent striker (or kept Washington ) which would have made all the difference lyle Taylor would score 25 goals in this team given the amount of possession we have particularly at home. We might not get promoted but we do need to have the hope and expectation that we will be competitive at the top end rather than battling in the bottom half

There is no way on God's Green Earth that anyone associated with our club should accept mid table mediocrity in the third tier FFS. It's that acceptance of absolute shit that allows Sandgaard and the fucking chancers before him to get away with being terrible owners.
We look like drawing a lot of games this season. Even with Stockley struggling we look like scoring most matches, but we’re inconsistent, even across 90 minutes, and will give away few good chances to the opposition as well. Not prolific scorers and not water tight defensively = draw specialists, likely = mid table, probably bottom half.
Not impossible this gets better but we’ve gone backwards in many ways compared to earlier games. I would say only O’Connell and Fraser have got better as the season has gone on.
I agree with Curbs post match, whatever system we settle on it needs to be designed to get the best out of our double barrelled wingers CBT and JRS because when they’re at it fullbacks at this level can’t live with them. Sticking one up front and one at wing back is not the way to get the best out of them.

I suspect far fewer than there were 30 years ago. I’d rather we ditched Stockley , rather than changed approach to suit him

Agree the football Is better, but still turd. It's just so uninspiring and I think that shows with the attendances at the valley and even away matches, also the pricing is poor. I don't "expect" Charlton to get promoted. But expect us to have a challenge for top 6. However I can barely see us finishing top half. For me that last day of the transfer window was a massive kick in the balls, and reality sunk in that it's going to be just the same as last year. I really don't think I can have another season like that. But things can change quickly in football.

So people moan about it ad nauseam. What good does that do? You think we don't know where the club is at?
If we’re not beating the likes of Cambridge, FGR and Fleetwood and another dozen clubs in this division more times than not then we know the club is underperforming, given the disparity in resources. I have no idea why we would settle for that.

We've conceded about 10 goals already this season from crosses, aerial or otherwise. Only one I can think of off the top of my head is the goal Plymouth scored against us.

Away matches?
Away attendance has dropped massively. Loads of things at play to attribute to that, but we are definitely taking less away than we did last season.
Still six points behind target. If JRS had finished it could be down to four. Mind you at half time it looked as if the deficit would be up to seven. Barnsley is now a must win.

On what planet does this make any sense. Maybe I’ve been exposed to some odd US coaching ideas, but successful coaches design around the players they have, not around the players the don’t.
If you have one consistently fit striker (Stockley) who showed he could score goals in a shit team last year, what is point of playing to his weaknesses. You may as well not play him - so it’s either Leaburn or?
At this point, getting to January where reinforcements can make a difference is the important thing. Stockley is what you have, use him correctly. If you want to stick to a style of play that doesn’t suit him, that’s the manager’s fault, unless he can find a striking option that works from either his midfielders of the youth team.
That's it from me, all things Charlton. 55 years a Charlton supporter - cannot take any more crap. Lower half league one side with a Premiership stadium ain't gonna get any better soon. Good Bye!
Not sure if it’s been mentioned but I’m not entirely convinced that wollacott is any better than mcgavillary. Haven’t ever seen a keeper look so nervous and therefore it’s rubbing off on the defence
Without meaning to offend any individual posters, I find it incredible that some are still eulogising the style of football. We are mid table in L1. Give me a ground out 1-0 professional away performance/ win like I used to enjoy -whether Mike Bailey, Lennie Lawrence, Curbs or Sir Chris Powell in charge. Feel free to call me old-fashioned.
10 pts from 9 games. Extrapolate that out over a season and that’s pure, unadulterated league one consolidationism. Nothing’s changed from last season other than some new faces. Today those that blithely cling to hope talk of Egbo as a new face that might make a difference. We do this time and time again. Delusion takes over our senses, if draws became wins, the second half showed more promise. We’re exactly where we were this time a year ago, it’s the same jigsaw with the pieces arranged in a different way.
We try and pick the positives out of 2 consecutive 1-1 draws with FGR and Fleetwood. How many times have we played Fleetwood since 2016? That tells you all you need to know

You'll.find out next week. Woolacott is away on International duty.
And then there us the World Cup in November & December.

Not sure anyone would settle for that. Realistic solutions as to what we could do to improve things would be welcome, though.
All very well telling an owner he should splash the cash but not that practical when he is looking at the bigger picture - his business's future in the current economic climate.
A simple and obvious wish to meet our expectations and entitlements, is to encourage him to sell to a party with no such financial concerns. Or maybe rustle up some investors? Ideas, anyone?
As I said, it's easy to tell others what they should do for our needs and wants.
And don't think for one minute I am not totally pee'd off with the current situation but there's bugger all I can do to effectively change it.

Only Morecambe and Burton have won fewer.
Fleetwood the only side to have drawn more than us too.
Get the ball to the wing, and then cross with first touch.
