Netherlands were decent when I saw them.

The Dutch have gone under the radar so far in this tournament but they are bang in form and seem to be coping well without the prolific Vivienne Miedema.
  • Haven't watched a full game but the bits and pieces I have seen I would say Sweden and Japan have impressed me the most.

I'm not sure why though as they're a very good side. Won the Euro's in 2017 and were runners up at the last world cup. Their squad is full of players who play for the top European clubs (Lyon, Arsenal, Chelsea, Wolfsburg, Man City, PSG). As you say, even without Miedema they're still very dangerous.

Last 16 Knock out starts here with the shell shocked Spanish after their big defeat to Japan v Switzerland who have cured many insomniacs this WC.

I will go for Spain to bounce back against the Swiss who have been so good defensively.

Of the matches I've seen I've been really impressed with Sweden and Norway as well as England.
Really? The two other games they played were turgid.

Bonmati with a lovely piece of skill puts the Spanish 1 up after 4 minutes.

4-1 on the stroke of HT. Spain defender making up for her mistake/OG earlier

Despite Switzerland keeping 3 clean sheets in the group stages, a step up in class against Spain and the Swiss concede 4 goals by HT.

The Swiss have their first shot after 56 minutes which the keeper saves !

    I'll go with

    Spain v Netherlands
    Japan v Sweden
    France v Australia
    England v Jamaica
Ditto, especially as Spain are 4-1 up as I write.

    5-1 Spain now.

Given Spain lost 4-0 to Japan, and the Swiss drew 0-0 with Norway… I’d not be feeling too great if I was in the Norway camp ahead of the later game against Japan!

Entertaining watching the Spanish. Second best technically to Japan in my opinion.

    What's the English translation?

1-1 and Norway back in the game.

I thought this game may be close as Norway won't let Japan have the space they had in their 3 group games.
After England thrashed the Norwegians 8-0 in Euro's when Norway were useless and England razor sharp they have had a revamp.

Japan as usual technically better but finding it harder to break down the Norwegian defence.

    Tighter game than I expected.

Norway and Japan have a rich history in the women's World Cup.

Norway lost in the inaugural WC in 91 and won in 95.

Japan won in 2011 and lost in 2015.

The pressures on Japan as they were the outstanding team in the group stages.

That honestly might be one of the worst back passes I’ve ever see.

Average height of Norwegian Women is 166cm (athletes will be mostly taller)

Average height of Japanese women is 159cm

Only one way the Norse win this I think

Norway do their second bit of bad defending and Japan 2-1
